Dad is doing better today. They can't drain the abscess because it is too close to his lung, but the antibiotics appear to be helping. He is without fever and his white blood count is down almost to normal. The doctor says that if they have a change for the worse, then they will figure out some way to go and drain it.

Hey Star - sorry I've been away all weekend, but you've been in my thoughts. That's excellent about the Transformers & cars being there - Art would have loved that It's got to be another world living in LA. I hope you're dad responds well to treatment & today will be a good day for news.

Hi STAR - that is good your Dad is doing better. I hope it continues. It sounds like your son had a fun time. Nice that he got to see the actual cars.

You need to get out too, not sit around in front of a computer screen all day...lol {{{Hugs}}} The cars were awesome... they had Bubble Bee ( I love that Camero), Iron Hide ( the biggest freakin truck that I have ever seen), Optimus Prime ( pretty sweet up close), and I can't recall the characters name, but a silver Corvette. I'm a classic muscle car kinda gal... my Daddy raised me loving the classics... so, seeing the body style of the new Camero was awesome. It is all power and speed... so hot!!! Sorry... I had a moment...lol Living in LA is interesting... I was born and raised here in this area of Southern California all my life. It's all I have ever known. Sometimes it is like living in another world... it's just a matter of no getting wrapped up in all the bad stuff that comes with living in this 'world'. The good news is my Dad is continuing to respond well to his treatment still with the antibiotics and is getting better. We are hoping that he might be well enough to come home by the end of next week.

My son loved seeing the actual cars used in the movie... and he really enjoyed walking around Hollywood. It was all new to him. Too bad that he is scared of going on a plane with me... I think he would love Chicago.

Excellent news about your dad I'll do the cheering for you Star - I'm guessing you're still not breathing out yet The cars sound so cool - I told Art, he's jealous! I thought he would be! I think I'd be amazed walking round, looking for sets - although I assume they're everywhere. I picture it as movies are being made all the time and you could walk onto a set at any time! maybe I've been warped by too many movies Huge hugs to everyone that needs them.

Thank you Yup... breathing isn't easy still, but I have faith in my blood so that is keeping my body going strong. He really is doing better. They told my Mom that he may be able to come home by the end of this week!!! So he might be home by the 4th Jill. No fireworks however. Our city doesn't allow them due to drought conditions and high risk of fire hazards. People still do... but, we will most likely just stay in that night and chill. Normally I would try to take my son to a professional show (safer that way). Dad overall is being a bit of a punk though today with my Mom. He wants to come home, and is grumpy... she is the only one there for him to take his frustrations out on... thus, he is being a Grumpy Gus with her. She says she will come home early today...lol Poor Mom

LA is a big movie set...lol Well at least I see a lot of people always in character. What they are being casted for, I have not a clue... It's cool here. You see filming taking place often in different parts of the city. The cast trailers are all around. Security. Maybe, not enough to walk onto at any given time... but, living here you see filming taking place all the time and celebs too. After a while it all seems normal... at least to me it does. My cousin runs his own security company for the movies and they have a lot of work in the industry. They have done security for The Fast and The Furious, Spider Man, Transformers (both movies and also the third coming up)... etc. They also do security for the studios themselves and the 'Talent' they cast in the films. Anyway, you would be surprised how often work is filmed in the smaller cities in LA County and not just on closed sets. If you and Art ever get a chance to come to the States to visit, they do have tours of the studios for free

Thanks Nancy My little guy did love it... the entire experience for him was overwhelming. I want to take him to other parts of the city and State. I think he is at an age where he is able to appreciate it. We just have to see what is left open now that we are at the July deadline for the State Budget crisis... a lot of things will be closed if they don't mend the huge hole in our deficit.

That paragraph is enough to make Art find money to come & see you. Spider man is his favourite ever (his 30th is coming up & once again, it'll be a spider man cake ) Hopefully you're dad will stop taking his frustration out on your mum & both will be home & resting

That's funny And nothing wrong about turning 30 again... Yeah, yesterday was a pain for my Mom. But, the way I hear it, my Dad was taking it out on everyone... including the nurses. My Mom says that she will leave early again today if he keeps it up. I don't blame her personally. I mean she wakes up at 5 am to be at the hospital by 6 am and stays till at least 6pm every single day. Then by the time she gets home, takes care of what she needs to do, and settles in for the night to go to sleep it is at least 11pm. I try to take on as much as I can, but she pushing herself way too hard.

I'm not turning 30 - I did that a few years ago - Art is For once we'll be in the same decade & I think I'm much happier about it than he is! Such a long day for your mum, hopefully your dad will wake up in a better frame of mind today - acting out isn't going to help, but it must be frustrating for him. My thoughts & best wishes are with you & your family as always

Personally I find older men exciting... a man who has gained life experience, can use that experience to the best of his ability, and knows what he wants. A man that has his head on his shoulders... now that is a turn on. So, I think Art should be very proud of his age ... just as you are proud to be the woman in his life Oh... and good news!!! They are letting my Dad come home tomorrow!!! He has to have a feeding tube still, but he is well enough to leave the hospital. Yay!!! Edit: * I almost for got to add... Thank you all for your continued prayers. We are all very blessed in my family to have your support through all of this. {{{Hugs}}}

Fudge buckets... They won't be releasing my Dad today after all. He was ill last night and threw up bile. So, he has to stay another day for observation. Not sure if he will be set free this weekend now. I don't blame them for not wanting to risk his health... I wouldn't want to risk it. It just sucks...

Thank you CF {{Hugs}}. They are going to keep him this weekend. They are running some more tests. Right now his body is all wacky... but, the doctor says that is all due to his body adjusting to not having a stomach and it's new arrangement inside with the intestines. They say it will take time. Until then they want to make sure that before they agree to send him home, that they are taking care not to miss anything.
Right now it's just a lot... we want him home just as much as he wants to come home. But, he can't come out until they say he is well enough to do that. It's almost been a month now...
Faith looks forward... never back. So, I guess I just have to keep looking at the road ahead and not worry about the past.
God bless and keep all of those who are in need of prayer and comfort safe. May blessings greet you at your door, and love fill your homes. Amen.
Happy 4th of July everyone... and a huge thank you to all those in our military that continue to make our independence possible.

Oh Star, I'm so sorry to hear that you're dad didn't come home - I even commented to Art when we were decorating on Saturday. It's good though that the docs aren't letting him out of their sight until they know he's well enough.
