Greetings, all I just returned from Japan where it is not an original idea to look at cherry blossoms --in fact, it is a national pastime and one of the few times of the year that the Japanese people get to let their hair down, so to speak. Here are a few pics, including a couple of wristband shots. xo C In Tokyo, with a pink variety of blossom: A red umbrella and cherry blossoms in Kyoto: A famous crab restaurant in Kyoto (the crab's arms move up and down): Maruyama Park is home to Kyoto's biggest sakura-viewing parties, with lots of beer, food stalls, and drinking games: Court musicians and dancer at the Imperial Palace which is only open to the public 8 days a year. The gardens at the Imperial Palace, Kyoto: Weeping willow variety blossoms are planted along canals: last one!:

Thanks everyone, glad you enjoy them. Tonight I have been invited to dinner with fashion designers Yohji Yamamoto, Derek Lam, Giambattista Vall and a few others. I really don't think I'll have the nerve to ask them for WB pix as this is a work-related event, but maybe if they've had a few drinks and seem open minded....

you guys should not encourage me -- I am far too bold as it is. Anyhooooo, went to fab dinner where everyone was decked out in diamonds and designer clothes, the waiters were opera singers in disguise, and there was lots of air kissing. Too fab. I felt like I was in some ridiculous scene from Truman Capote's life. Or something. Met Yohji, John Rochas and lots more -- but didn't take pix or do any ST-ing it was so not the place or time! in meantime am slave to my desk and currently have, count them7 articles due, plus 7 more to edit and 8 pages of web copy to write. Holy-moley. I need a a drink. Speaking of which, one of the articles is on night life in HK --and I get expenses. Think it's time to re-acquaint myself with the scene since my life is so not about staying up past 11! xo C

Hey Trees, Thanks for bringing that photo of Marty over to this thread. We had a wonderful first outing and this colt is going places, winning 2 firsts and a second plus 2 championships is outstanding work, he now has his photo on 2 horse websites and has attracted many fans already. The name (real) Marty picked for him is gonna be so well known. I just love Glenene Clarity, and it is one name many of my fellow competitors are hopefully gonna be sick of hearing as we will be beating them for the big prizes! Bye for now, Helen.

I should get over here more often. Fantastic pics. Little Marty is gorgeous and Chk your pics of Japan are breathtaking. I can not believe how much Little Marty has grown since December. It looks as if that may be the best time of year to go to Japan. My Pink Dogwood did not bloom this year due to the late snows here in the Midwest. Thanks C and Hel. You both brightened my day! Den

omg so sorry I missed the pic of marty when it was first posted. THAT IS BRILLIANT, mate! How exciting to see the ribbon on our boy -- it does coordinate very well with the wristband! Glad everyone is stopping by -- I'll try to do a whirlwind tour of the board while I have five minutes. YAYAYAYAYAYAY for Glenene Clarity! Congrats, Helen!

chk - thank you for sharing your pictures from Japan, especially weeping willows I always admired Yamamoto's designs, for me she is a fashion equivalent of Picasso, I always thought there is a place to draw a geometrical figure in her pieces of clothing. Big Talent. Helen - Little Marty is just adorable, congratulations on all winnings

Just a quickie to say that Stella M is the nicest, most down-to-earth person you could meet. Absolutely adore her. Met her in a.m. for press thing (she walked around introducing herself to everyone -Hi, I'm Stella") and had a couple of chats again at party last night. The cool thing was that her assistant waited for me to arrive so I could be taken to hang out with her --no kidding. I am a hero to my friend who came with me. Venue was ancient warehouse in old fishing village turned manufacturing centre, completely decked out in lights. A marquee out front with her name, disco laser lights in top-floor dance hall, dangling lightbulbs in the billiards room where models hung out shooting pool and showing the clothes, and on the roof a gazebo plus outdoor terrace strung with dozens of pastel-coloured Chinese lanterns. The food was all veggie and organic and too pretty to eat: pastel-coloured marshmallows, shaved ice, and cocktails. Lots of fun -- especially grooving with SM to funny 80's type band. She laughed when I asked her if they reminded her of Flock of Seagulls. I was thinking it takes some kinda cojones to play in front of a McCartney --the woman has seen it all!
