Okay Hammerheads! I'm sure most of you have gotten your LH newsletter. The big thing to focus on is Dino's idea to help get the word out on our band: GRASSROOTS CD CAMPAIGN Dino has a theory that if anyone listens to the CD, they will enjoy it. The problem is getting people exposed to it, so Dino invented the "10 Person Whisper." Basically, he says that all people have to do if they believe in the music is tell 10 friends to check out the CD, and eventually the whole world should have a copy. Dino may have been on pain killers when he thought of this, but he still stands by it - so in order to humor him, we want to test it next week. Everyone's homework is to tell 10 people to check out the CD starting Tuesday, April 25. We know it is sometimes difficult to get people out to the store, and many stores aren't keeping a great inventory, so you may have to work a bit harder - ask the friends if they want it - once you get 10 "Yes" answers, get the CDs and deliver them to your friends. You can also order them online here. This is as grassroots as it gets, and honestly I can't think of ANY fans other than Hammerheads that would do this. Anyway, let's try this out, and see what happens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So let's get together and share some ideas on how to make this happen or any thoughts.

So my first thought is to take a moment to scope out or phone the stores around you to make sure they have the CD in stock. That way you know where to send your friends so you don't waste their time.
Of course there's all the online outlets like amazon, sony's store, and itunes...

How about offering an incentive for your friends in exchange for them buying/downloading the CD?
For instance, maybe you have season tickets and there's some games you can't make. Or maybe you have extra tickets/passes to an event.
I do the occasional babysitting and pet sitting/house watching and could work something out.
If you provide a service, think about offering a one-time discount.
I don't know - just brainstorming here............

Hey Everyone What a great campaign... count me in. I noticed in Dino's email that he suggests if ordering on line that we use Sony Music Store which sounds like a great plan. If we all order from the same place it might show Sony/Epic that the guys have a dedicated fan base! I will certainly order 10 no problem.

Some stores are weighted stores, meaning that if you purchase from them, that sale is counted double, triple, or even 10 times.
Weighted stores:
Chicago, IL Reckless Records Rolling Stone Records
Milwaukee, MN Atomic Down in the Valley (http://www.downinthevalley.com/aboutus.htm)
I will add more as we find them.

I bought most of my CDs on line in the past. But the only store that I know of in my town that sells it is Target. Sometimes I notice they are out, but each Tuesday it seems they restock. When I was in there the other day that had about 5 copies, and they had been moved from the new releases to the Rock section with it's own "Marty Casey & Lovehammers" marker. That's cool! Even thought this is short notice for all of us, and I'm sure many of us cannot afford to buy 10 CDs next week, I will still do my part as I always have to get the word out. My daughters also have friends in mind who would definately want to check them out.

I've bought at least 10 copies of the cd to give to people, but I will buy some more now. I've bought them from Sony, Target, FYE.com, Virgin Records, among other places. I'm trying to decide if I should order more from Sony or buy some at Best Buy tonight. ;D For anyone who cannot afford to buy more copies, please just do what you can to spread the word to anyone you can think of. BTW - good ideas, radioclash! Also, remember to hit VH1.com and contact radio stations to request "Trees". Those things can help the band just as much as record sales. The band wouldn't ask for this push if they didn't think it was important. Hammerheads are great people!

Hey, just a quick note. There has been some talk about if buying more than one CD does it only count as one sale on the charts. So, you may want to purchase them one at a time.
Unfortunately, I hate shopping and going to stores, but I will do this for the guys. Just means I can do the CD shuffle in a bunch of stores - that doesn't count as shopping, it's promoting! lol

And we know they will count for Billboard. :~)

I think that's what happened to us when we all downloaded Trees multiple times on iTunes. I have no idea why it works that way.....

Hi guys, I'll do my best to do my part but as the CD isn't released still here in Oz it makes it quite expensive to order them from Sony online and get them shipped down under!! ROCK ON LOVEHAMMERS Hel

Yes, we're supposed to start this campaign on Tuesday, April 25th, and run through Monday, May 1st. If you're ordering the CDs online, I would suggest ordering it on Tuesday to make sure that it gets counted for that week.

Hi guys, I'll do my best to do my part but as the CD isn't released still here in Oz it makes it quite expensive to order them from Sony online and get them shipped down under!! ROCK ON LOVEHAMMERS Hel Now that the CD is available in NZ, would that be an option that wouldn't be quite so expensive for Aussies wanting to participate? Would the purchase in NZ count toward the Billboard charts or is that only U.S. purchases? Den

My hubby suggested we buy a CD for each of the boys on my sons baseball team. I am going to include a note that they can say thank you buy gifting Trees to a friend of their's on Itunes. Hope that spreads the music.

That's a great idea, itybits! And I like yours, too Isa!
Yes - this certainly is the one of those times of the year when there's lots of gifts to be bought.
Den - I'll look into the NZ & Billboard question. Maybe someone here already has the answer ?

RE: international sales:
From a Billboard.com FAQ:
"Since 1991, Billboard has relied on the data compiled by Nielsen SoundScan, which tracks U.S. point-of-purchase sales, to inform its sales charts."
So Billboard is US only.
