Let's call it angbIt's on Fri.- nights - 7 p.m. central time - Fox channel. Tonight was the first show. Damn!!! I wish the guys could of been on this show!!! But I think their "contract" with Epic or Sony or whoever it is (they are truly pathetic) would exclude them. Anyway - this was two hours of kick ass, good times music and fun. They ended up with 12 bands for the final competition that cover almost all genres of band culture. There is a band named . . . (dot, dot, dot) from Chi town that were good but not AS GOOD! One group consisted of five young men ranging in age from 12 - 15 and they did Iron Butterfly!! A group from Philly that had me up dancin'!! And the judges get big props for this - an all female band, yah!! So....................anyone interested ??

You know I sat through this dreadful two hour pilot thinking it might be tolerable. Boy, was I wrong. Thank good I had Tivo'ed it and when the bands got too bad, I could fast forward to the cutting comments. I don't have a favorite here....they let through quite a few that I would have gotten rid of. Is this really the best they can come up with?

The producers were so busy trying to cover every genre and demographic. I wish it was simply, The Next Great American ROCK Band. Some of them I won't be able to sit through. I'm hooked anyway, of course, because I love me some singing competitions. Loved the Leper Pop recaps.

Hmmm, I wonder if we'll get this shown in the UK? I'll look out for it.

I forgot to vote Friday night! I don't really have a favorite but since Tres Bien is John Reznick's girlfriend's favorite... and I want to be John Reznick's girlfriend when I grow up... maybe Tres Bien should be my favorite. Is that logical? I wanted to vote for Dot Dot Dot because I have friends who LOVE them.

Honestly, there isn't any band on this show that I want to spend my time and energy voting for ... at leastways not like I did once upon a time for one certain blonde-hair, blue-eyed boy we all know ... But, that said, I did have fun watching the show with my youngin's and making comments about the bands and the songs. I'll probably watch it agian on Friday. The bands I enjoyed the most were: Cliff Wagner and the Old No. 7., Light of Doom, and Denver and the Mile High Orchestra! Can you get any more diverse than that! Are any of them "The Next Great American Band"? Don't think so. But I guess SOMEBODY on that show has to win the title ... eta: And don't forget the Leper Pop guys are working their spin on this show as well. Go give them some love. MC: I'm Marty Casey, and I approve of Leper Pop.

NGAB was pretty good tonight. And Rocket and The Muggs went home. Yea!!!
Cliff Wagner and the Old No. 7 were really good. And the Light of Doom! Wow, they really brought the rock. I was impressed.
Be on the watch for Leper Pop's recap ....

Only one band went home last night, Franklin Bridge. I kind of expected it, but I was hoping Tres Bien would fall first.
Dot Dot Dot impressed me with their version of Love Potion No. 9! If you didn't see the show last night that'd be worth watching at the msn website when they get that posted.
Next week they are doing covers of Rolling Stones songs. That ought to be fun!
My complaint about this show -- you don't get enough about the bands, beyond their performance, to really care about them. The little snippets they show right before the bands perform are, well, just lame. I guess because it's been highly edited to fit tv. The show last night was only an hour, too. I guess down to this few bands, the show was cut proportionately, but it would have been interesting if they could have kept the time the same, and let the bands perform more and/or shown more footage about the bands. Just one woman's opinion.
What do y'all think? Who's going home next week?

I'm glad I popped by. I love the Leperpop and I didn't realize they were reviewing this show.
I'm really liking the show - esp. the Clark Brothers.
Dot Dot Dot reminded me of Marty in that the lead singer went from going overboard on the stage movement to staying still and putting the emotion into his singing because he listened to the comments of the judges. They're nowhere near as good as Marty but I like that they listen and improve in the same way that Marty did!

Hi Kim!
Cliff and the Old No. 7 fell last night. I wasn't surprised, I didn't think they'd go the distance in this competition, but I really did like them. Judge John (from the Goo Goo dolls) had a LOT of nice words to say about them.
The Clark Brothers and Sixwire were the ones that really impressed me last night. Really good performances!

I'm impressed by the Clark Brothers.
Considering there is only three of them.
They did a very good job last night..................they really worked the song well.

The Clark Brothers are phenomenal! And I didn't want to like them at all.
I also really enjoy Tres Bien. Their Stones cover was so much fun! I'd definitely pay to see them.

Now that they have weeded out the not so good.....this show is fun to watch. (I haven't missed an episode yet, so there must be some reason I keep coming back.)
I gotta agree guys. The Clark Brothers are great on every song they do. They aren't necessarily of my preferred genre of music...but they have real talent. And they play and sing the shit out of every thing they are handed.
And my second favorite is dot dot dot with Tres Bien a close third. Both of those bands seem to be having real fun and have lots of energy in their performances.
Not such a big fan of the Denver and Mile High Orchestra folks as horns and stuff are not my favorite. But I do recognize that they are very good at what they do and deserve to be up there.
The kiddie rockers are doing really well and you can't help but root for them because they are so young. I can see that among young viewers they would be a top pick. And Sixwire is really good too. They are just a bit too countryish for my taste. But no denying they have talent.

I've been watching the show since day one. The Clark Bros. are amazing and like Cindy, I'm not a country music fan either but they have soooo much talent and give it all they have with their song choices. I'm rooting for them to win the whole thing. My least favorite is Denver & TMHO. It should be the Lounge Singer & TMHO . But I like everyone else in between.

Well, Tres Bien was finally deemed NOT and went home tonight. Light of Doom hanging in there and really rocked well for a bunch of kids in a garage band (hmmm, like anyone we know ...).
Dot Dot Dot really needs to re-think their lead singer, AND they didn't showcase their strength tonight --- the girls on guitars. Might not be a smart move.
I enjoyed Sixwire's performance again tonight.
Next week they do Queen songs. Should be interesting!

Denver needs to find his way to Vegas or Broadway. I'm disappointed that DMHO stayed and Tres Bien were sent home. I thought it was one of Dot Dot Dot's best performances. Adam still needs to reign it in a little bit. He has a really strong voice and he could use it more effectively. I really hate that Hot Legs song. Sixwire did it well, but when you hate the song, it's still hard to listen to. Light of Doom's vocals sounded better. I need to hear them perform a ballad. All great rock bands can play awesome ballads. I feel like they keep doing the same thing over and over. The Clark Brothers. Amazing. They better tour. I really want to see them live. I'm concerned that if they take Dicko's advice and bring in another brother, it could screw up their chemistry. Next week will definitely be interesting!

Hey Y'alllll!! I've really missed being on the boards since I moved on 10/26! Haven't had a puter since then but will remedy soon. I have to agree with you all about the Clark Bros. They get more f*ing awesome each week (can't believe I said that about some good old Christan boys!) I have to keep this short. 'puter I'm using keeps kicking me off.
