Yes, Yes we all agree the picture is yucky but how many have we ordered so far? Okay, I only see Ricky Lake now and no Dino. And a gross beard. Ugh.

I'm curious about something different (and I agree about the first photo): most of the songs on the new album are old. Are these new recordings? And "Trees' is only listed once. Did they drop the one with Dave Navarro?

Did they drop the one with Dave Navarro? This was Dino's post on the LH.com board re the new CD: The only songs that have been released are (Tunnel, Eyes, Clouds, Call of Distress, and Rain) These songs are different now... Everything else has just been on demos or something. All songs were at least re-mixed, some were totally re-recorded, some got new vocals, etc - most likely all songs will sound different, and hopefully better to you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We wanted this album to be somewhat of a History of the band, we wanted to keep it raw, but at the same time feel comfortable with the songs - I think everyone will dig them. Casualty is a cool rock song that Marty and this dude Mitch Allen wrote right after Marty finished the show - we thought it was a cool rock song, and written about the show, so why not include it on the album!!!!!!!I think Marty said that the acoustic version of Trees recorded with Dave Navarro is not on the album, but is being released separately (I guess as another single).

Now that they've signed to a major label, I feel they could sell out. And wtf's with the new name - that's just the corporate rock wh*res r*ping the band - milking Marty's publicity shamelessly. And their already re-releasing songs......to me this rings alarm bells that already their creative juices are running dry.... I'm just scared that people will forget the band as a whole and just think of Marty and soon the record companies might want to change the 'backing' band members, and split up the band. I feel they should've stayed independant.....Screw corporate rock wh*res!

Amp26 you certainly are passionate about your views and I respect your right to feel however you do.
Perhaps you are ready to judge a band you may have loved because they are taking steps to move from having to work other jobs to help support themselves to doing their music full time with the support of a label. Or for not fighting against "evil corporations." I'm not.
I tend to think about things in a bit more optimistic light. The guys had a short time to put an record out--they did a whole album in 6 weeks. Bands often take six months or years to put new material in an album. In my mind, they are simply making the best of an opportunity. Many people haven't had the opportunity to hear those songs. They are great songs.
Marty decided to Rock Star for a reason--his reasons are personal to him. But I have to believe that exposure for him and the band were part of the reason. They would be foolish not to capitalize on that exposure. "Milking the publicity" is part of the process. People can't buy records if they don't know about them.
Without Rockstar--I wouldn't know about the Lovehammers. It is really hard for Independent bands to get National Exposure. There are a lot of people who didn't watch Rockstar that now will have the opportunity to discover the band.
Yes signing with a label will have some compromises but also benefits. I guess I prefer to look at the benefits. Every change in life has compromise. That's just part of living. What's the old saying--you gotta give to get?
The real test will be in the album and their long-term careers and where they go from here. I'm willing and excited to see where that is. I trust the bond between the Lovehammers and Mary's commitment to his bros in the band.

cjs, well put, i could't agree more and while I understand where you're coming from amp, I also trust these guys.
Initially when they signed I felt a bit of chill through me, recognising the prospect of having our beloved LH swallowed up in the big music machine.
But they're not kids rushing into this with their eyes shut, and I think they'll always be true to their fans. I'm really looking forward now to them getting the recognition they obviously want, and deserve.
...just my opinion anyway

I just looked at the lovehammers site and compared the two pictures. The first one is so much more natural and they all look like they do in person.
The second picture is terrible and totally airbrushed. I mean Marty is skinny, but not as skinny as he looks in that picture.
Poor Dino, that is not at all how he looks--Did they have any say in this? I'm confused!!
Of course we already ordered the cd and I don't care about the picture, b/c I know how they really look. It does concern me for all of those that don't know the band well and this will be their first impression. I hope somebody reads all of these posts and changes the picture!!

I feel they should've stayed independant.....Screw corporate rock wh*res! Hey there amp, it is all about spreading the Love and sharing what this electric group of men can give to the world. I don't know if you read a post of mine earlier, but I was at a fairly large pub a couple of weeks ago, the DJ is my best friend and of course he was made to download MOMM and L'Strange. He announced The Tunnel by the Lovehammers, and even though I could tell everyone was in the music by not throwing their shot glasses at DJ time, the response just wasn't there. The next song was I think Bulletholes, and instead of saying The Lovehammers, he added Marty Casey's name, you know the one from Rock Star this summer, and I ain't sheeting ya, at least 40 girls rammed the DJ box and was like just staring off into oblivion, and was crazy about hearing the Lovehammers all night after that. The record labels are not stupid people, they deal with PR all the time, so have faith in not only the music that comes out, but of the label that is so generously representing our men. Just spreading the love...Nancy....the one from Southern Illinois....

Sure, WE all know most of those songs, but let's face it. We are but a few. I am excited to hear what they have done with some of the songs.

I agree cjs & vulcanet. These guys have been together for 15 years. I think they will be able to rise above the "business" and remain partners and friends. What's important is the guys (and the fans) still refer to the band as the Lovehammers. With the tour starting so soon, they had to have a new CD to sell at the concerts. What better way to let everyone know who the Lovehammers are than by showing them where they've come from? Some of my favorite LH songs are on the new CD so I can't complain.

I know we all love these guys and would buy their album no matter what was on the cover, but it is nice to know that we haven't completely lost ourselves and can actually joke about something that is less than perfect. Also, I am very excited to hear some of my favorite songs re-done by a major record company. Hopefully, they will sound even better.

Do people eat their own young around here?
I received the e-mail yesterday and cringed that the band had to acknowledge all of the flack they are taking for the title of the album. They have explained this decision over and over again. They talked about it at the Metro and Dino has posted numerous times to clarify the situation. And now people are critical about the CD cover and song selection.
Yes, we are all entitled to our opinions. However we also have the ability to keep our opinions to ourselves for the greater good. These gentlemen are under enough stress as it is, does everyone really think they need all the negativity?
These are full grown men. The impression I get is that not only are these men breath-taking to look at but they are intelligent and extremely loyal to one another. It would be my hope that the fans could display the same loyalty that Dino, Billy and Bobby showed to Marty throughout the summer. I was very impressed at how they handled the possibility of losing their front-man. They always watched Marty's back.
Now before everyone jumps on me, realize that I have no problem with having some fun. I enjoy all of the creativity with Photoshop and the wickedly funny postings of many of the members here. A lot of you guys are hilarious. However some posts make me wonder if we have the band's best interests at heart, or if we are just lashing out at the hand that feeds us.
