I watched the video again. Is it just me or does it look like you expect a little white powder to drop out of his nose? Maybe he's just nervous and has a cold? Hmmm . . .

I haven't seen the video, but I'm not surprised JD has so little respect. I just hope it doesn't lead to too much tension on the tour.

J.D. is a drama queen.....looking for a reaction........ I saw it all through the show......he should save the drama for his Mama......... If you caught his expressions during some of MC's performances you'd see that Marty was always his biggest concern....and rightly so........... He has reason to fret.........Marty ain't done yet..........he's just getting started and INXS will be long departed............LH is on the scene.........and J.D. and the 'boys' are just what has beens.......... Sry....venting a little.........

Maybe Kirk is demanding favours from him.....it was Kirk who was crushed up against him the whole time "hey Marty, do I have Kirk, I mean cake, in my *ss?"

I saw the video and am a fan of everyone involved- Marty, JD and INXS.
I didn't see that JD said anything against Marty-- not at all. He said he didn't want to mess with the karma of the song (PV) or the band. Kirk and Tim were certainly more outspoken, but you know what? They all have a helluva lot more insider information than any of us do.
None of this should be seen as a slam against Marty, IMO. Who knows how it all went down? Could Marty's lawyers or management have demanded a co-writing credit? We simply don't know.
All we know is what we saw on a highly edited TV show. If we are to make judgements on the character of either JD or Marty based on a TV show, than shouldn't we also take into consideration the fact that Marty and Jordis basically said PV sucked on the very same show? They sure wanted to distance themselves from the song then. Or so it would appear. (key word)
That is the rub. TV is all about editing and appearances.
This is what we know. JD and Marty became friends during the course of the show. For that to have happened meant that they liked each other. INXS thought enough of Marty's talent to offer him, and his band, the opening gig for a world tour.
Personally, I am happy that JD is leading INXS. I am also happy that Marty is with the LH. Both those situations are so damn roit. I am happy that INXS has new footing and the ability to make music again. All around, everyone is being given a chance to shine.
I think Marty and JD would hate, hate, hate fan wars. To walk out of the INXS concert is rude, IMO. WIthout INXS, the LH wouldn't be getting a much deserved shot at major exposure.
I don't see anything wrong with supporting Marty and the LH at the concert by wearing t shirts, etc... But I think Marty has always taken the high road and would want his fans to do the same.

Rockinchica, I totally, totally agree! I think some of the JD comments are in poor taste. I hope LH fans make them proud at the concerts, and prove ourselves to be as classy as Marty and the rest of the guys!

It's nice to see a thread on this where it's not nasty as I've found in several other places. YAY rational discussion. Whether we like red armbands, big dreads, wing tats or unicorns, etc., the #1 thing we all have in common is THIS SHOW AND the fact that INXS BROUGHT US each of theseTALENTED PEOPLE AND set us off on this grande and exciting little rock-n-roll tour we're taking. To have two groups so polarized pre-tour is just sad. The name-calling and finger-pointing, disappointing. I'm a Marty girl through and through and I have to admit, I didn't like JD one bit for the longest time but now that the battle is over, even I see he's a great fit and now he amuses me more than annoys me. I still believe Marty would have proved his naysayers wrong had he won the gig, but with hindsight and about a zillion IPOD hours listening to Lovehammers, I'm glad he didn't have to. The point is, things turned out as they should have. For everyone. But this PV business is just silly. As you say in this post, this is reality tv and we didn't see everything there was to see, nor have we been privy to any inside details. We're the audience and nothing more on this. We're seeing what they want us to see. The only thing about the interview that irks me a bit is the fact that Tim and Kirk's comments seemed to throw gas back on the fire. I think it would have been better all around to either ignore the questions completely and say "bugger off" to the interviewer or come out and tell the facts. The real facts. Once and for all. Now, I do have to say that I don't believe for a minute that Marty turned evil and demanded credit for something he didn't contribute to. As evidenced by his blog entry pre-TV airing and pre-Pretty Vegas ever even becoming a single, Marty and his group believed they contributed more than a vibe. He said himself he respected the fact that JD had kept some of the melody and lyrics they had all worked on. It's highly doubtful that he was sitting in his Marty pod all the way back then twisting and mutilating the facts to benefit himself months later. Marty just doesn't seem like that sorta guy. He's also not psychic and who knew the song would even become the first single? I also don't believe for a minute that lawyers, managers or whatever (and let's' remember that Marty etc. were free agents when PV was created excluding their unknown deal with MB)... no matter how many suits, had there been no AUTHENTICATED contribution, INXS would never have handed over such treasure and just laughed it off as an attempt to avoid bad karma. No matter how magnanimous JD and the boys are, that would have just been plain stupid and THEIR managers would have said NO WAY. Business is business and if they really knew for sure Marty et al had NOTHING to do with PV, you can bet his name wouldn't be on it. Period. Frankly, I like to think that the evil guy behinid the PV controversy which is quickly becoming urban legend, is none other than Mark Burnett himself. We forget that he owned a piece of everything and you can surely bet that Mark Burnett, being the obviously savvy guy he is, would never let PV get away without being credited to each hamster that he owned a percentage of. INXS and Marty as well as Jordis may have never even had a say in who got credit if it was up to Burnett. After all, PV was created, conceived and performed ON HIS SHOW. He had a say. Let us not forget that. Bottom line, hopefully the nasty, finger-pointing Marty and JD fans will be outnumbered by those of us who are rational and understand the world isn't black and white... Hopefully the shows will be populated with those of us who are just damn happy that a show called Rock Star: INXS came on CBS, Mark Burnett and All, and gifted us with these talented guys that we all get to share. Hopefully a little Mig and his unicorn-loving self will rub off on everyone and we can all spread the love whether it's Spreading the Love for the Lovehammers or Spreading the Love for the Binxies. I for one will be squeeing for both Marty and JD and the Binx and that's because we wouldn't have one without the other. If everyone stops and tries to remember that sentiment, maybe we can all just get a long and agree to disagree or at least open our minds enough to realize we don't know the whole story and probably never will. Everyone involved seems like a good egg so let's just figure things are as they should be. All around. I saw the video and am a fan of everyone involved- Marty, JD and INXS. I didn't see that JD said anything against Marty-- not at all. He said he didn't want to mess with the karma of the song (PV) or the band. wow...i watched the video several days ago.. and just now read all your comments about it!!! So many varied opinions!! I gotta throw mine in the mix. While I was watching.. what I saw was JD not living in the moment... looking around .. eyes darting up and around... his body language or whatever said to me.. I'm bored... get this interview overwith.. I'm hungry for something more than this!! like I want to do something else.. not sure what that something else was of course... but it was definitely not him enjoying his glory of being interviewed by his bandmembers. I dont recall ever seeing a time that I have seen him sincerely seeming to want to share the spotlight with his fellow bandmembers either. I dont see his eyes sparkle light up except when the spotlight is on him and him alone. As for their comments to the song lyrics and Marty and Jordis... dude!!!... I cannot see where Marty nor Jordis would care less whether or not there name was attached to that or not!!! Its not like I know Marty personally or anything, however, it feels like I know his heart .... and I would just bet my life that at some point he goes public and some point and explains that and says it doesnt matter to him and never did. Remember on the show when JD kept asking him... Do you think I am difficult to work with?? like badgering him about it... to the point that most of us would have blown!!.. .and Marty was just like NO... now lets just get to work... and thats probably how he feels about that nonsense interview... lets just get to work.. I'm a professional with a goal and I have work to do and fun to have... and I'm not wasting one moment of MY life letting crap like this drag me down. Move on. It is what it is.... end of story. You know that saying you have to be a friend to have a friend.. thats how I see Marty... Marty is a true friend... and JD draws from that.. yeah, he is good guy... and there is something about JD that Marty sees good in.. which doesnt surprise me in the least.. Marty would find the good in all of us... so yeah, Marty is a friend to Jd.. that doesnt make JD a true friend in return... however... with Marty thats not a condition that Marty puts on things... he's more like unconditional... he can overlook others flaws and imperfections.. remain true to himself in the process. And the dude has freakin strong boundaries and values!! He held out for the Lovehammers to be signed and not just him alone. I just dont think that anything that JD or Inxs says is going to phase him all that much. He will look beyond the words for the reason and accept that and move on is what i'm trying to get at.. and i said all that to say this. I truly believe that is what he would want each and every one of us to do... to try and see beyond what they say or do on topics of that nature..... like why are they saying it.... everyone has insecurities... and they handle them in different ways... sometimes make a fool of themselves even.. you know?? Inxs isnt exempt from that. They are insecure in where they are at right now. You guys have to know that!!! Here they are .... goin on tour .. with this new dude JD... they are taking huge risks!!! I bet they arent sleepin well at night.... If you guys were INXS... would you feel just completely confident goin back on tour after all these years... and then having to follow an opening act like The Lovehammers??? come on... thats a freakin load they have on their plate. They ARE insecure and they are trying not to show it.... nobodies perfect... Marty gets that... and he certainly isnt goin to hold anyone to higher standards than he holds for himself. Time and time again we see him live (and sing) from the compassionate side of his heart.. Truthfully I'm not even convinced he has another side.. lol... but yeah.. he's not perfect.. the good news is he doesnt expect perfection out of everyone else either. We all know he is awed and overwhelmed by his fans and their support.... I really hope you guys think twice before showing him your negative sides even if its well intentioned... you're taking a chance of bumbing him out a bit on a night that in a perfect world... well, should be just perfect for The Lovehammers. Think about it??? Emma

I'm not sure what some previous posters were reading into things, but it is possible to observe the oddities of JD's behavior during the interview without it meaning that we hate him or INXS. I am currently trying to buy an ebay ticket (at great expense) and I do not plan to "walk out" before INXS. I am going to see Marty (and I admit, I would not be going if the Lovehammers were not the back-up), but I am also interested in seeing the outcome of the TV show and how JD does. I have found that the people on this board are really nice and have a great sense of humour - they are a good representation of Marty and his positive energy. I have not seen much disrespect on these boards; they are nothing like the RSINXS boards.

takemeout- Sorry, but I am just going to say it... it is hateful to insinuate that JD (and Tim and Kirk) had white powder/cocaine dripping from their noses, as posted upthread. It is distasteful and frankly, as a Marty fan I think it cast a negative light on these boards. I wish it hadn't ever been posted. In fact, while I admit there being more love than not on these boards, it is the few posters that get really personal and really ugly (staging protests at concerts, throwing things at JD/INXS on stage, etc), that keep me from visiting more often.
Marty seems like such a cool down to earth guy. And I don't think any of his fans need to rip another person to shreds to make Marty look better. Marty's talent stands on his own merits.
cupomahtee- what a great, positive, thoughtful post. Good for you!

Ladies and gentlemen -
We have enough negativity in the world without adding more static to it over a reality TV show.
JD won. He's fronting INXS in their 2006 tour and I will be there! I'll be there to see Marty and Lovehammers. It's all good. The rivalry and competition are over.
I'm closing this thread. Let's move on to positive things and not throw around negative words. Thank you.
