From Marty DIARY
February 09, 2006 Back from the Border!
We just arrived in Boston after playing Detroit Rock City last night. The place was called the Masonic Temple and it was really beautiful and ornate. Don't worry, I still managed to climb all over their cushy seats and we tore the place up! When we finished our set Andrew and Tim from INXS came back to our dressing room and hang-out. They watched our set and said they loved it. Bobby, Dino, Billy and I were really psyched that they took time to watch our set and hang with us before they went on. They are continually helping us grow and perfect our show. They are the masters of the road and we take their comments seriously. I mentioned that I have a new song I recorded while in LA that I want Andrew to hear and get his opinion. He was really supportive and we are gonna hang-out and listen to it in New York when we both get some time. Both INXS and Lovehammers have been extremely busy these last few days. I haven't had much time to think. I wake up in the early AM to do a phoner with local radio stations, go to face to face interviews in the afternoons, then offf to soundcheck, grab a quick bite to eat, warm-up for the show and then sing my heart out. After the shows is the best part of the night. We get to meet the fans and friends for an hour or so. After the signings we head back to the hotel and then ship off to the next city on the 007. I have had the opportunity to meet many of the Sisterhood over the last few gigs. Lots of Sisterhood love in the midwest and Canada. After the Canada show I got to hang by the merchandise booth and do the ceremonial garder exchange. It has become something of an artform in the way you ladies present the garder. My tour manger told me that in all the years of managing bands like Bon Jovi, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Ted Nugent, etc... He has never seen such a serious moment between the artist and the fan. I told him it is serious because I love what Sisterhood, Street teamers, fan clubbers, trouble makers have done for the Lovehammers and it is a moment that cannot be overlooked.
Canada was so good to us. The crowd was insanely loud and the people from Sony/Epic Canada were amazed at how many songs the fans were singing along to. They assumed everyone would know "Trees" but the crowd also sang along to a few other tunes. I was pumped that they were blown away. Oh yea, I don't know if anybody saw my slip up but I almost fell off the second floor balcony when the fan in the front row threw her arms around me to give me a big hug, my hips flew against the balcony railing and I had to grab onto her or I would have gone over the edge. Made my heart skip a beat for a second there.
We had a great time doing the acoustic jam in the stairwell for the autograph seekers after the Detroit show. We got in some trouble with the security people because I guess we were all supposed to be outside but it was just to damn cold to wait out there. We sang Guns and Roses song "Crazy" and a few of you knew it. That would be a fun ritual to play an acoustic song after the show and all hang-out together before we get tackled by security. Next time we will try the Stones "Sympathy for the Devil" and maybe more people will know the words.
We are taking offf now and gonna check out Boston. It's a great city and we need to get some Legal's Seafood before we check out of here. I am gonna be gluttenous this evening!
We recieved alot of special gifts the last few weeks and we want to thank you so much for your unbelievable generosity and support. I want to throw a special shout out to Laurie for the incredible gift she has given the band. Laurie, your gift really blew us away and comes at a time of much need. You don't know how much that helps us keep things going while out on the road. We are putting it to good use and want to thank you properly when we see you again.
We just realized that we are supposed to take random pictures with the garden gnome that was given to us in Oregon. We ate all of the brownies and pound cake. Bob ate the brownies first and then pretended to be tripping out like they were hash brownies. I actually believed him for awhile. I said we better eat them before we have to do the border crossing into Canada. Good thing they were regual brownies or we never would have made it to Toronto alive! Bob is the guiney pig food taster from now on. If he likes it, then we will all eat it.

OMG.....OK I'm shaking all over....OK get a grip sharon. I am at a loss for words at how sweet he is. I am really curious about what Laurie sent them. Whatever it was it made them really happy you could tell. Yes and Garden Nome how funny is that. Thanks for thinking of us Marty...we love you. Sharon

Marty writes the same way he lives life - sensitive and caring, but by the seat of his pants. According to his own words, someone may have to take control, grab him him and stick some "Spidey tape" on him - No Fear, that one... would hate to see him grounded (in any way, shape or form - by Doc, security or otherwise) ... "That would be a fun ritual to play an acoustic song after the show and all hang-out together before we get tackled by security. Next time we will try the Stones "Sympathy for the Devil" and maybe more people will know the words."Would sure love to be there for a jammin' acoustic "after the set" session, especially some Stones... and the hangin' out part, too, cuz we KNOW that's fun... ;D

Thought everyone might want the lyrics to Sympathy for the Devil. The Rolling Stones of course wrote it but Axl Rose also recorded it. So for all of you going to Boston tomorrow here are the lyrics.....get rehearsing ;D ;D
Please allow me to introduce myself I'm a man of wealth and taste I've been around for a long, long year Stolen many a man's soul and faith And I was around when Jesus Christ had His moment of doubt and pain I made damn sure that Pilate Washed his hands and sealed his fate
(chorus:) Please to meet you Hope you guess my name But what's puzzling you Is the nature of my game
I stuck around St.Petersburg When I saw it was time for a change I killed the tzar and his ministers Anastasia screamed in vain I rode a tank, held a general's rank When the Blitzkrieg raged and the bodies stank
(chorus:)
I watched with glee while your kings and queens Fought for ten decades for the Gods they made I shouted out "who killed the Kennedys?" When after all it was you and me So let me please introduce myself I'm a man of wealth and taste And I lay traps for troubadours Who get killed before they reach Bombay
(chorus: -twice-)
Just as every cop is a criminal And all the sinners saints As heads is tails just call me Lucifer 'Cause I'm in need of some restraint So if you meet me, have some courtesy Have some sympathy and some taste Use all your well-learned politesse Or I'll lay your soul to waste
(chorus:)

Wow - being a little bit older than the average LH fan, and having enjoyed many rock bands over the years, I have never sensed the total fan appreciation that this band seems to sincerely feel. The diary entries written during their tour wasn't something I was expecting. It is absolutely wonderful to be kept up to date on their stops and their feelings. And it is wonderful to know they appreciate us so much. I told him it is serious because I love what Sisterhood, Street teamers, fan clubbers, trouble makers have done for the Lovehammers and it is a moment that cannot be overlooked. What a nice nice guy. Marty we love you. Marty falling off a balcony - what an absolutely scary thought - I must admit I love his antics but have worried that one day he is going to be hurt. Thank goodness he was able to grab onto a fan. I have a question: I must have missed something on the Board - what is the "ceremonial garter" between the band and the fans. Dying to know. Pam

I checked out the Sisterhood website, sounds like they've been checking us out, too. They seem to be getting a good laugh at how lost we are on the whole garter belt deal. Laurie is one of their "sisters" from the website. Marty was giving nods to 2 of the members (I think Laurie was one of them) who cooked brownies and pound cake for the guys. They are also worried that people will start to steal their garter belt idea and try to jump on the band wagon. Some of them have the Marty Casey bands though, interesting...Either way it doesn't really matter, the more MC & LH fans the better! Every fan site will have their own deal that Marty will recognize and no one should be worried about stealing ideas. It's all for the good of the band, promoting them and supporting them, right? Can't we all just get along?

MC.org was my first home, but I am also a part of the Sisterhood as well as the LH Hammerheads.
I went to the Sisterhood because the girls there are wonderful . . . they had bonded originally at the MSN boards and that was the home they made for themselves after the MSN boards closed. It is a place for people who love Marty and want a place to gather and talk more openly (lots of Marty love there), and for people who are dedicated to supporting him all the way to the top. It's a very tight group, but it is NOT closed. The very fact that the Sisterhood doesn't require a password or special membership means that they understand they will grow . . . but growing pains hurt sometimes . . . in the end they only want to make sure that whoever is there knows what they are all about and is dedicated to the same purpose. It may sound like they are laughing about their current anonymity, but it stems from fear . . . . the Sisterhood means the world to them and they don't want to see it destroyed. The garter is a symbol that is understood, and they just want to make sure it retains it's meaning.
The way that the org wristband represents this fabulous place, is the same way the garter represents the Sisterhood. I wore both proudly . . and so did Marty, because he understands what they mean.

Franny2....Thank you, that was so eloquently written....It almost seems trite for me to say "I understand what you mean"...I respect all the LH/Marty websites and hope all members of the fan groups respect specific customs, rituals, that each group claims symbolically or otherwise. All of us want to "please" Marty and hope that what "special" thing we do will matter to him and he will remember it.

I think that Marty loves all his fans regardless of who does what. I wouldn't worry too much about what other fans or fangroups are doing. I have had a lot of people contact me concerned that they feel Marty perfers certain groups over others and I am sure that is not what he intended by his diary post.
Just be yourself, be a fan and when you can meet him, let him know you are a fan. It doesn't require a secret password or ritual to be a fan. I am almost positive that he appreciates and loves all his fans equally.

franny2, thanks for your post and clarifying. I hope my post earlier didn't come across as negative. I was trying to inform the mc.org peeps inquisitive minds. I didn't think their laughing was meant to be mean or anything negative. I took it as all in good humor and they were laughing b/c .org was so curious about *****, the gnome and the baked goodies. It wasn't something expected in MC's letter. I've been lurking on the sisterhood site and know that there are tons that belong to both websites (as well as other sites), including me. I'm so glad to see all the love that is out there for our guys! I completely agree with them on wanting to keep the garter their thing, they created it, they should get the credit and be able to share in their garter moment with Marty. No matter what group you do or don't belong to, MC & LH appreciates all their fans. That's what is so great about them, they really show their appreciation for each of us!

I agree 100% with what you said Cindy.
I know Marty appreciates everyone who is there for him. I spent a lot of my time with him talking about all the different boards and groups and what they are doing for him . . . because he needs to know how many people are behind him and the Lovehammers.
Everyone finds their niche and works from there . . . and everyone finds their own way to show him how he has affected people, but in the end it's all about supporting him and working to get the Lovehammers to the top. In that we are all united and will continue to work towards being open to everyone's different personality and style while this grows. The various groups that are forming are happening because people are bonding . . . Marty has started a ripple that is affecting people's lives deeply just by having the courage to go after his own dream.
Marty is here for a very big reason, and we all just want to make sure EVERYONE hears him and knows what it is. We need more of everything . . . members, radioplay, exposure, advertising . . . love, support and understanding that as this grows, groups will continue to split off in their own direction so that they can retain the personal level they all need. But if all the groups know about each other and understand that they all have the same roots, then they can hopefullly also mingle and bond together as a whole in recognition of the fact that we are all "friends" from the moment we meet, because we are there together for someone very special.
