Ladies and gentlemen, We have some really nice pictures of Marty (sorry Tish, she said her other band member photos did not turn out) from a photographer who was at the show at Joe's Thursday. So if any of you are still interested in seeing photos from Joe's, check out Jennifer's shots here: martycasey.org/joes5_2-02.htm

When flexible schedules, patient spouses, true blue friends, and sheer adrenaline come together, amazing things tend to happen. My friend Michelle and I arrive in beautiful Chicago Thursday afternoon after a 13 hour drive from Mooresville North Carolina. We rested up a bit, had some dinner, and headed over to Joe's. We saw the last few songs of Blackmaker, they were great! The drummer does sort of resemble Rockbeast from the pictures that I have seen here. Then it was time to get hammered... My favorite moments during the show were the Price is Right theme music playing as the guys came on stage...the nano-second of eye contact I made with Marty during The Riddle...Marty asking the man with the cute baby photo if she had a favorite song yet...Billy coming over to the side of the stage where I was to sing with Dino, hopefully my picture will turn out...hearing Real Man live...Marty appreciating his one-day fans as much as his life-long fans...of course seeing Marty climb the rafters...watching and listening to Bobby beat the crap out of his drums...during the break on This Town, Marty SINGING to us about how happy they were to spend their unexpected free time with us...watching my friend Michelle fall under the Lovehammers spell...getting a picture with Dino and Bobby after the show...not caring that I didn't get to meet Marty, because the show alone was worth the drive... The band was smiling and funny and rocking hard and the whole audience gave it right back. Through the whole show, through EVERY song, we were all on the same wavelength - singing along, jumping around, being CRAZY and being HAPPY!!! So as my friend and I float off the train to our hotel, we realize that the Virgin store is right by our hotel. We decide to stay until Saturday afternoon so that we can go to the signing... We stood in line Saturday morning between locals- some who grew up in the same neighborhood as the hammers and some that were long-time fans. They were SO nice to us "newbies", though they all thought we were crazy for driving so long - I'm cool with being crazy ;D The store performance was acoustic and fantastic! They played Call of Distress, Tunnel, Wish You Were Here, Trees, Rain on the Brain, Hold On. I think that's it. The audience was around 150 people. I loved that there were little kids, teenage kids, adults, parents, grandparents, all sorts of people there. I called my hubby during the performance and it was like he was there too. Everyone seemed relaxed and happy to be there, it was fun. Then the autograph signing - I didn't think it would be such a big deal because hey, I pre-ordered the autographed CD, what do I need another one for, right? I stand on my wobbly knees corrected. It was an assembly line sort of thing that was happening very quickly, so if I was going to actually say something clever to Marty, I had to be on my toes. So as he is signing my cd, he asks if I am going to the show that night, and I say no, but we did drive from North Carolina to see the show at Joe's. He paused for a second and looked up at me and actually processes what I said, and then smiled and stuck out his hand to shake mine. He said something like 'wow, thanks for coming, it was a great show wasn't it?' like he ACTUALLY thought it was cool that we came so far! I then said something like "bdlfpejwwqpdkvvlpsth!" and I made my way through the rest of the line as my brain continued to melt. I think that Bobby and Dino remebered us from the show and said 'we'll see you in a couple weeks!' and I said someting unintelligible to Billy, trying to say that I thought they all rocked - who knows what they heard My friend had them sign one of Radioclash's postcards that I have been handing out and it looks awesome! I believe she is going to frame it. I walked out into the magic that is Chicago and floated off into outer space. Hopefully I will have some pictures that turn out good enough to post here - I get them back on Tuesday. I feel so lucky and so blessed to have had such an amazing weekend, to have returned safely, and to have such a great community on the internet to share this with. Now I can count the days until the Charlotte show, they will not know what hit them! Spread the love and make it happen!

Shuckra, What a great story! Thanks for sharing it, and I'm looking forward to your pictures too. Sounds like your friend Michelle and my friend CJ and have a couple of things in common--agreeing to crazy road trips with "lovehammered" friends and then "falling under the Lovehammer spell" themselves! I love it!!! Although your drive was well over twice as long as ours, I trust your car wasn't towed at least! Very cool that you got to stay for the Virgin Store gig yesterday! Have a great time at your show in Charlotte--I can't wait for our rescheduled show in St. Louis and another chance to see LH!!
