Hi all. Just saw this today: www.newsday.com/entertainment/music/ny-ffmus4446637oct02,0,3878298.column?coll=ny-music-headlines Here's the Marty part: For INXS, it would have made more sense to go with the ambitious Marty Casey or even the mild-mannered (and wildly popular) MiG Ayesa, to give the band a new start. Now, they have a singer who will remind people that Hutchence is gone and that the replacement is not quite as good.

I couldn't agree more, but I'm still happy he didn't win...

Yeah, have to agree here with that article also. I couldn't believe INXS would pick a man that was so controversial. He will drive them crazy. Thank Goodness it's only a year contract.

Harsh. I greatly prefer Marty and agree with this assessment but it is a bit rough. JD is very talented though perhaps more so in context of being with INXS as opposed to fronting his own band ala Marty. When you see Marty perform there is no question he is a star.
The more I ponder this question the more I feel Marty will come out better now as opposed to being with INXS. But you can't discount the publicity from winning the show and touring as the lead singer for an internationally famous band with a slew of past hits.

I think it worked out perfectly. Marty benefited from the exposure, and let's face it: INXS benefited from the ratings that were surely boosted by Marty fans. They each helped each other and now they can tour together and then go do their own things. Luckily, it will give Marty a chance to show people some of the Lovehammers songs and introduce his band to people also.

I am happy he didnt win either because the difference between INXS and the LH is night and day. INXS- POP, 80s WAVE, LH- HARD ROCK and HEAVY ROCK, ROCK AND ROLL IN ITS ORIGINAL FORM
Crank up those guitars Marty and Billy because y'all's gonna blow away that Amateur J.D. Fortune.

I just can't help but wonder if it was offered to Marty and he politely said 'thanks... but no thanks' so that he could do his own thang...
Yeah... he has said he wanted to win, but I also remember reading that Dino said the purpose was for Marty to gain exposure for LH...
Marty's statements about wanting to win may have been merely for 'show content'...
I could be wrong, but I just think that Marty is better off now that he isn't in OB, and doesn't have to do the 'dance-pop' stuff that OB is so well known for... granted MH was awesome... but for one thing... Marty can't dance <LOL> and it would also have been a hard sell to the old fanbase to have a lead singer that appears so 'stiff' doing their back catalog...
So IMO, it was a move that was made by everyone for the maximum 'dollar' benefit...
Tour and get the J.D. fans <even though he sux... his version of Cold As Ice royally sucked> and the Marty fans in the same show so as to maximize on the income for ticket prices...

i agree and was wondering the same thing myself. JD just seems so average compared to alot of the performers on Rockstar, he just doesnt have say the voice of jordis..... the versitility of Suzie..... and the star quality of Marty. i do hope INXS does well but i see them maybe releasing another album then crawling back under the rock they came out from. the true winners of Rockstar are the losers who now can get out on their own and wow the world with their amazing talent. most of all this goes for marty and the lovehammers who i believe will rock the music industry with their raw talent, something we have been missing for a while.........

Wow, well said. I think Marty ans LH are the best thing to come on to the music scene in a LONG time. Marty said on the TV Guide segment that he was going to take some risks on the tour and that he thinks he needs to do this so that they can headline on their own tour. He also said they were going to be a hard act to follow. I don't know if they're slated to open for INXS on the international tour. They'd better watch out. INXS may not want them to continue touring if they show them up! LOL

Marty was asked if he was surprised, when he came out of the Mansion, how his fan base had grown. Marty answered 'yes and I appreciate it and I'm going to' "Blow their Minds" (paraphrasing). Plus INXS asking Marty to open for them. Equals Headliner Marty Casey and Lovehammers World Tour Blow Their Minds + I NXS Tour = MC/LH World Tour Looking forward to experiencing the Hugh Risks

Thanks for the article. Just received my Rolling Stone and in the mag. it says;
"INXS" Pretty Vegas An exhaustive, prime time televised quest to replace the late Michael Hutchence led INXS to one JD Fortune, whose dated, psuedo bluesy growl is nearly as cheesy as his name. Fortunes sel impressed karaoke champ vocals help make INXS first single in two years sound more like bad Billy Idol than any of their own hits"
Bet INXS wishes they had signed Marty now!!!!

I am one who will be forever grateful to INXS for introducing me to Marty which led me to the Lovehammers. The band ROCKS and I am so looking forward to seeing them live as well as hearing their new CD being released in January.

I have one disagreement with what you wrote here. Marty actually CAN DANCE, and quite well. I'm not talking about the head-bobbing thing, either. I went to the taping of RS:INXS on 9/14/05 (see my avatar...) and spent the whole 3+ hours right in front of the rockers' platform. When INXS went backstage to deliberate, they were back there for about an hour, not the commercial break you saw on TV. During that hour, the bottom 3 also went backstage. That left Marty out on the platform by himself. The emcee/announcer guy did a Q&A session, where the audience could ask Marty questions. Then they also did a contest for audience members for singing and dancing. During the dancing part, they were playing club dancing type music, and Marty was there on the platform BUSTIN' SOME SERIOUS MOVES! His shoulders, waist, and hips are so flexible, and he is so graceful, that he is a real natural at it. You never saw him doing this on TV, but THAT BOY CAN MOVE!!!! It was actually a little shocking to see, because it is so different than his hard rock persona. I wish I had that on video!

What can't Marty do? I haven't found anything yet that he isn't good at. I guess he's messy, but so am I, so that doesn't count.
What other tidbits do you have on the question and answer with Marty?

I got great seats to see Marty and the Lovehammers in Detroit in Feb. I could care less about INXS now that they have that clown fronting them. I couldn't believe the Rolling Stone photo with JD giving the finger to the photographer (or to us?). He's so passé and his surly scowl is so theatrical that it is a laugh. Now Marty on the otherhand ~ I am so hooked on his band. I now, thanks to the show, have all their CD's and DVD! They rock.

I'm an INXS fan from way back when they were young rockers - now I'm afraid they're just past it really. Yes yes its very nice that they've released a new single and done an album etc but come on - PLEASE - how silly do they look with JD fronting their band! However without RockStar I seriously doubt we in New Zealand would have ever heard of MARTY and Lovehammers - they are so great. I'm glad MC didn't win, his star shines far too brightly to not do his own thing. It's awesome that LH are opening for INXS, and fitting I think but bring on the LH WORLD TOUR, I'm there!!!

Marty wanted to take the band to new heights in their careers. INXS wasn't ready for a big change. I truly hope that this works out for JD. JD is a good performer, but he is not near the talent that Marty is. Marty knew what he wanted and wanted to go after it. Where INXS was afraid to take that plunge, so they choose JD to front their band. Not because JD was a better performer, But JD was safe and the most agreeable kind. INXS knew that JD wanted this gig so bad, that I feel JD would be more apt to do what the band wants. Rather than have alot of say to what needs to be done. Marty on the other hand is one who takes control and INXS was not ready to relinquish the control to Marty.
