I am a HUGE fan of Marty's,but have to agree with one review that says their sound is dated. That sound may be fine as charismatic stage performers, but does not help them in selling new cd's or tv/radio coverage. They should do more covers or branch out in creativity like Modest Mouse or Louis XIV. Boo Hoo? ? Have you even heard their new CD....We are talking revolution baby!!!! New sounds redefine what Rock N Roll is and what it feels like, and how it affects people...Just read these boards as to the effects of not just Marty...but the Lovehammers.....That's their name ya know? In my opinion....branching out is exactly what they are doing...they are giving their loving fans a taste....a sweet aroma feeled taste of what was, what is, and what the future has to hold....Hey Boo....Read...Listen....and Feel....before ya post such comments as saying their sound is out dated...OH Please.....lol....that makes me laugh...Spread the Love Boo....

Hmmm.... not sure what to say. I'll use my old standby, "art is subjective" and then I'll say, "Lovehammers ROCK!"

Well Boo...I can see what you and the review are talking about, but what you're missing and the review doesn't is that "old" feel is new now . If it'd been released in the mid to late 90s they'd slipped through the cracks and been just another band of that time - but as it is they're one of a kind and very original at the moment. I'd also like to add that the fact that their music reminds me of those mid to late 90s bands is one of the reasons I love them so much - they remind me of the times when I cared about music, when real rock ruled the airways! It's the wonderful circle of musical life and I'm hopin' the Lovehammers are gonna bring back the days when rock was king. PS: Why are you claiming you want them to be original and then saying the should be more like other bands? -- You should want the Lovehammers to be The Lovehammers, which is exactly what they are.

I suspect that both of my daughters 7 and 2 will be attending Lovehammer concerts as soon as they are old enough!! Future rockers unite!!

I see both points of view ... I love the LH and I am really psyched to see them. I also can't wait to get the new CD, and if it shows up on iTunes before I get the "hard copy" I'm downloading it! But I just watched the videos of "Creep" and "WYWH" and I hope that Marty also gets a chance to explore all of the other sides of himself. He is an incredible performance artist, and I can't really think of anybody else out there who has such emotional range, not even Bono. And who could have pulled off "BHMOMT" the way he did?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I must say - Tooks - I totally agree with yours. ;D Lovehammers have re-introduced me to music and to rock and roll. They have brought back feelings I haven't had since college. If they were doing what everybody else is doing - they wouldn't be special.

I hear grunge roots, but grunge had roots in classic rock. Maybe the LH music isn't revolutionary, but it's certainly evolutionary. Whatever it is, it's not old hat as you say.

It's kind of hard to be "fresh" or "original" in any art form, and does it even matter? Most styles tend to be re-cycled, don't you think? (Example, the whole "retro" thing) I personally don't follow most trends just for the sake of being "in style," only if I like something. I guess what I'm really trying to say is that, compared to 90% of what passes for music on my local radio nowadays, Lovehammers Rock!

If it was "old hat" would my 11- and 9-year-old sons be rockin' out to their music? And believe me, if they could find a reason not to like something that I like, they would. But they love Lh music.
Personally, I'm tired of all the pop music crap that is played now. I want some ROCK! And the Lovehammers give me that!

I love marty's voice and the effect used on them on the new album. I can see Hold On, Rain on the Brain, Casuality, and Clouds in the Top Ten

I too agree totally with what Tooks said. Again, couldn't have said it better myself. But of course, not everyone likes the same music and they are entitled to that. That's what makes America great. I will be rocking out to Lovehammers once I get the new CD. . . ;D

That sound may be fine as charismatic stage performers, but does not help them in selling new cd's or tv/radio coverage. They should do more covers or branch out in creativity like Modest Mouse or Louis XIV. ROFLMAO respectfully......... Music is revolutionary, evolutionary and all points in between. What is one person's recycled in someone else's "creative" such as oh say Louis XIV and its creativitely recycled 80's sound. And one person's evolutionary creativity (Radiohead I'm looking at you) is anothers utter pile of crap. And covers are an interesting choice in creativity though done right-ala Baby Hit Me One More Time-it can be evolutionary. Fun to throw in and mix things up but a set full of covers in order to placate the masses? Save me from that show LOL! Most music carries sounds and elements from different eras and influences. It is the RARE band that can be deemed revolutionary. I'm not looking for anything but catchy, intelligent lyrics sung in a sexy raspy rock and roll voice by a charismatic and intense front man backed by a kickass, musically proficient band. In other words, a damn good time. IMO, the Lovehammers deliver all this and more.
