Cindy - love your humor ;D ;D. Personally, I found it rather offensive and contrary to the so-called 'peace process.' Please hold all parties, including oneselves, to the same standards. Just sayin.' UandMe - I also apologize. I have a similar sense of humor as Cindy, so really appreciate it. I was not being sensitive to the situation. Thank you for calling me on it. Liz

I think it literally happened that quick because i remember one day a few days before the announcement was made seeing a solo show posted for Marty at a local club here in Florida and i remember messaging everyone down here i know that he was coming, and it was literally the next day that it was removed from that bar's my space page. It was less than 24 hours. Imagine how quickly he must have had to tell the band..... Wow, i would have loved to be a fly on the wall for that conversation.....had to be a tough one. You're right. I'll bet it was an extremely tough one. Marty said in the interview the other night that he had 4 days to make the decision, but then he said it had been coming for a while (months, I think he said)... He hadn't been happy, needed to find his muse again, etc. I can empathize. I've had my own struggles with black-hole, feeling-like-whale-poo-on-the-bottom-of-the-ocean, depression and I have been willing to do just about anything to get out of certain situations... willing to do just about anything to ESCAPE the trap I felt I was in and change the way I was feeling. At times like that, it is a very personal decision. Sometimes it worked out for the best; other times I just jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire and hurt people I cared about along the way. Only time will tell how this decision works out long-term for Marty. He's in the unfortunate (fortunate?... I dunno) situation of having a lot of fans as well as many LH fans who have opinions about this decision, so it inevitably has become a public issue evoking a great deal of heated discussion. I wouldn't be surprised if he preferred that everyone just shut up about it, but you can't have your cake and eat it too. I hope that he (and his official site... the face of Marty Casey online) can take the crunchy with the smooth. I hope the WTFs?? and the kudos both can be respected. None of the people here would be expressing opinions (negative or positive) if they didn't care. The thing I'm having trouble with is this... the fact that Dino and Bobby (in their posts on lh.com) seem to have been totally blindsided by Marty's decision. It seems like they had no doubt Marty was continuing his commitment to the band. If he had been wanting to escape for months, why wait until the 11th hour (once he had a new gig lined up) to tell them? A CD in the works, charity events lined up (canceling charity events is the worst kind of PR, btw), Dino booking gigs at festivals, etc. ... Were these plans being made without Marty's knowledge? That seems highly unlikely since they were discussed freely on his band's website. So, if he was looking for a way out, why not be upfront with the rest of the band before they made these plans? I have always had a great deal of respect for Marty. That's why I'm here. I don't want to have been wrong about him. I'm sorry if this offends anyone, but I think the way he handled this makes him look bad. He often referred to the other guys in the band as his brothers. He does this to his BROTHERS??? I know I'm on the outside, but all I can see is what has been made public and so far, Marty's not looking like the man of integrity I thought he was and that saddens me. I really hope I'm wrong. I hope there's some explanation which will make all of this make sense. I discovered LH because of Marty, but it didn't take long before I stopped being all about Marty and embraced the whole band. That's why I can't be LA Guns. It just seems way too callous and insensitive to a group of guys who have become very dear to me. I can't be all about LHs one minute and then just flip a switch and be an LA Guns fan because Marty is fronting THEM now. I know some people can and I mean no offense to any of you. To each his own. I just don't work that way, though. That being said, I do hope this works out well for everyone involved. I've been a huge fan of The Band (Levon Helms, Rick Danko, Garth Hudson, etc.) since I was a kid. They started out as Ronnie Hawkins' band and then they were Dylan's band. It wasn't until they were out on their own, sans frontman, that they did their most brilliant and creative work. They didn't have a frontman. The drummer, bass player, keyboard player, etc. switched it up and sang the songs and they were phenomenal. I'm rambling and going off on tangents, but my point is adversity can give rise to amazing creativity; that's what I'm hoping for Lovehammers. I know we haven't heard the last of them. As for Marty, I hope this decision serves him well and gets him what he wants... no regrets, cuz regrets suck.

Juliannah - I respect your thoughts and opinions and glad that you feel you can express them here. I have read over the past week so many comments saying that it is not that Marty left but how he went about it. I am not close to the situation but this is what I believe. I will try to use an analogy to make my point. Ever been in a long term relationship that for whatever reason was not working? You tell your s/o that you need something else and try to fill in the missing pieces, all the while trying not to let go. This goes on for a while and then something happens where you decide this is where you just have to let go and your s/o is shocked as if it were a total surprise. THis is b/c it is a total surprise when a s/o will not allow themselves to believe there could ever be an end. This happens often in really close relationships. In my heart I believe everthing that Bobby, Dino, Dan, and Marty have said is true. But they are four very different people looking at the same set of circumstances through very different eyes. Everyone has their right to opinions and to express them. It is part of the healing process. Now I hope that we as fans can come together and stop debating things that are private matters to these amazing men and turn our energy to support them. -Liz

Thanks for the response, Liz. I get where you're coming from with your analogy. I've been in that place myself. I'm in no position to judge Marty (or anyone else) as a person. I do realize that. I'm just trying to make sense of it all.
I think the debate is inevitable for a while at least. So many people feel strongly about the guys and the effect they've had on our lives, so there's lots of analysis and discussion... people just trying to sort things out in their minds and deal with disappointment, confusion, etc.
I'm all for turning our energy to supporting them. I think SUPPORT is the source of much of the contention and disagreement and anger popping up on the boards... SUPPORT means different things to different people. I think most people are just supporting them in their own way. For some people that means putting 100% of their support behind Marty. For others, it's 100% LHs. That leads to an "us against them" reaction and I think it's understandable... Quashing/silencing dissenting opinions only creates more anger and fuels the "us against them" mindset.
Supporting Marty used to mean supporting Lovehammers and now that has changed. I have read some pretty negative stuff about the band on this board in the past few days... people saying they were "dead in the water" before this happened. This is a band that used to bring so many of us TOGETHER. It's all upsetting and confusing. So, some of us are just torn and confused. As I said before, there wouldn't be such a strong reaction if people didn't care and I'm glad people DO care.
I'm sure the heated debate will calm down. It's just going to take time. I think it's healthy for people to talk things through. I'm all for debate. Airing opinions can help us see things through someone else's eyes... just like your analogy did for me. It may not have changed my opinion entirely, but it gave me something else to think about. Cheers for that.

...further evidence of just how tough the music business is ...Im surprised that all the graduates of rockstar received such little boosts to their careers. This LAguns thing makes no sense whatsoever.I watched some LA guns songs on youtube....they are just awful.Another bad hairband...with boring forgetable songs.... that plays small venues, with a revolving door of personnel changes. How is this a step up? Like INXS the Guns arent going to let marty take over. This tour...is a one shot deal..How can you claim to be a songwriter when you havent had new material out in years? Calling yourself a performing artist.....when you havent done a NYC show in close to 2 yrs? I think the best thing to do...is just wait for marty to come up with new material on his his own that he fees strong enough to tour behind.
