Since you asked... I think he's making a huge mistake and do not see how LA Guns (one version of the band, btw) can lift him to a higher level as an artist. Okay, I'm done.

I have waited to post to really take time to read Dino, Bobby and Dan's official responses to the news. Billy has still remained quiet on it. I'm very conflicted. I really love LH and can't imagine this band of brothers with someone else fronting them, but having only been able to make it to one show, I'm not ready to accept that I may never see them together again. At the same time, they've been together for such an insanely long time that sometimes you need to break free to gain perspective. After reading the other LH official responses and explanations, I think that may have went about it the wrong way and it feels like he mislead the LH and Hammerheads and that's why the reaction has been so incredibly strong. Everyone (Band and Fans) thought a new album and tour were in the works and he said in the interview on the radio last night there wasn't really anything substantial. They only had 2 songs ready for an album, 1 of which was written 5 years ago....so I can understand that. It seems like the bad deal of going with the major label and letting some bad people into their circle really drove a wedge between the guys and Marty and lead to trust issues that essential lead to creative differences. From their accounts it seems like everyone was committed to the band and they all had different tasks in making the band work, but they weren't working together. Its hard to feel content and connected and creative when that's the vibe. Marty also said in the interview that all of the past songs he wrote were inspired by 1 relationship which is now over. Perhaps, its just that he couldn't recover from the issues created after the Record deal, creative differences and the constant reminders of this relationship and needed to start fresh and move on. This of course is all my opinion and not factual, just what I've deciphered and am trying to be objective about. That being said, here's where I'm unresolved. Why the LA Guns? He was writing for them, he basically wrote or co-wrote most of the songs on the album, that I can understand. But they have such a tumultuous history, Traci has proven difficult to work with creatively and as a business man, so I worry that Marty might get lost or screwed. Also, Traci tried to recruit other members of LH at one time or another and I think once he got Marty there, and realized how amazingly gifted and talented he is both lyrically and vocally, he realized how awful his current frontman was and found a reason to boot him out and steal Marty. That's shady and I don't trust him.....till he proves me otherwise. Marty on the other hand, I'm giving the benefit of the doubt and trying to throw my support behind both him on this new exciting endeavor and the LH during this difficult time. It also seems like Marty's abandoned the midwest, his home turf with this new tour and I wonder if that is just a timing, to give Hammerheads time to heal. Marty said he'd post something soon to set things straight, and I really hope he does. He needs all the support he can get at this time and I think the fans and band deserve that clarity. I'm optimistic of FINALLY hearing some new music from Marty and hope I'll get a chance to see them LIVE soon.

Wow Jupiterjane - you've just said what I was thinking! I feel bad for Billy, Bobby & Dino too. I hope they can rise like the phoenix from the ashes with LH and hope Marty is happy with his decision too.

Wow Jupiter, well said.
I do however, have to disagree about him "abandoning" the midwest. He joined a band that already had a summer tour scheduled, therefore that is probably why there aren't as many midwest dates as many fans would hope for. Sit tight, i'm sure some will be added in the future when LA Guns realizes how many fans their are in the Midwest.

JupiterJane, Wow--I think you have stated a really important point here! Most of the songs Marty wrote wiith Lovehammers are all about that one long-term relationship, that is now over. But every time he gets onstage to sing with Lovehammers, he has to sing about that girl and think about her all over again, when he has moved on from her in his real life. Yikes!!! That's like if someone got divorced, but every time they went to work, they had to wade through every detail of their former marriage, and spend all that time thinking about their ex. That can't be a pleasant thing to do.

JJ: love, love, love what you said! great post!
I don't think the Tracii guy was trying to "steal" Marty. They are all adults and probably saw a way for both their band and Marty to benefit from a merger. They get his relatively recent popularity from the show (and time is slipping on that one) and he gets their name recognition and bigger tour schedule-even outside the U.S.-which will be interesting.). It's business-and unfortunately, in situations like these, it's inevitable that some will be hurt and disappointed. There's not really any "good" time to do it. I remember after rockstar when Marty announced he was sticking with his band, I thought to myself, what? why would he do that? If it hasn't happened yet..it probably isn't going to happen. More like a lateral move, at best. But, like most of you, I soon became a HUGE Lovehammers fan. Nobody better mess with MY Dino/Bob/Billy...especially not Marty! How COULD he? I loved them (incl. Marty) because of their incredible character and loyalty.
But, in the end, it is not just my entertainment...it is their lives. And even though I HATE that it went down like this -with such AMAZINGLY great people- I have to accept it. I have to wish the best for Billy, Bob & Dino....and even Marty.
And I hope that one day they will be able to all forgive each other for any hurt that was caused. Life is short. And no one ever said it was going to be painless. Everyone has to do what they feel is right for them.
I still love and support all of them.
And I agree about the time for change...some times the only way is to just start fresh. I feel sooo bad for the others...but I have to give props to Marty for having the balls to make such a big change. It's all or nothing...here's hoping they all find contentment in the future!

I totally agree, chifan!
As much as I love the Lovehammers -- all four of them -- I don't think it's my place to judge their personal decisions. I will continue to support each of them in whatever they do.

I'm glad this thread is here. I'm still personally numb from all this. I think I would be "numb" if this had been done in any form or manner, but I think HOW it was done and the things that are being said now as a later fact, is what will bring me personally out of being numb for too long. Simply put, a band is a band, not a solo career, but a band. Music is music, and I personally do not like LA Guns music. Marty is such a grand performer, one with what we all thought was magic, well with Dino, Bobby, and Billy, there WAS magic, and I'm for one looking forward to any Lovehammers shows in the future, and will miss horribly the friends, the community that we have made here. We can all stick together and support Marty in any way that there is, that is everyone's choice, I just have my choice finally, and I'm finally FEELING again from that choice....... I love all the opinions out there, I think it's a healthy avenue to be in right now. But what I HATE is when people put Marty down without knowing the facts, and put other FANS down for giving their thoughts, their feelings, and their love for a skinny white lead singer dude. No matter how he messed up by doing this the way he did, time will heal, time will cure, and time will give us all a chance to once again be a community of people in this world that "share" a common cause again. And that would be that DINO'S HOT. Nancy P.S. I had to say something somewhere, and ^^^this is where I felt like saying it. Don't know if it makes any sense, but I'm glad I waited a week before I opened my mouth. For ya all that know me, that was a hard one to say the least.....

I am posting this for all the fans of Marty and the Lovehammers: I am happy to see that most postings thus far have been positive and supportive for Marty but a few have saddened my heart a little and I wanted to say something to everyone. The reason we feel so close to Marty, Dino, Bobby and Billy is because they have always included all of us in their lives as more than just fans, they have befriended us and given us a sense of intimacy with them. I don’t have to tell all of you that this is rare with bands and people who are in the spot light and I am certain it hasn’t always been easy on them. Marty has made a very difficult decision and I am sure he means it when he says he gave it much thought, I also believe him when he says he doesn’t want to hurt anyone. We need to rally behind him and support him right now, as well as be supportive to the other guys in this time of transition for all of them. No matter what happens, we need to let them know we are not going anywhere and that as individuals, being a member of a certain band does not define who they are and why we love them. They have earned our loyalty, let’s not let any of them down as they plan for the future…

Change is scary -- sometimes really freaking scary. But it has to happen. Nothing stays the same. We can either stand there freaked out or see where it takes us.
I'm really curious to see what Marty's songs with LA Guns will sound like. I hear that LA Guns is really hard rock. I said once on this board, "If you like rock, you like rock." A lot of people agreed with me. I like rock, so I can't wait!
BTW, talking about "scary" stuff, just reminded me of our RS: INXS "Scary Conductor". lol
Edit:
That said, I still hope the best for Lh, and for Bobby, Billy, and Dino.

Hi All, just thought I would put my thoughts here as well, I really wanted to know why the lead singer was kicked out of the band, and I went over to LA Guns site to read the message boards, its pretty empty there, but I did read from Traci himself, that the lead singer screwed the band by going to Mexico and playing a gig and calling it LA Guns band, when it was only him and the drummer, I guess that was a big NO NO and he paid the price for doing it, so LA Guns did not plan on stealing Marty away, it just happend right before the Cd recording and the tour dates were made and they needed someone asap and marty was sitting right there writing for them and the record producer told him to take it cause he may never get the chance to do it again. Marty wants to progress in his music and tour and perform for us all, so do not be so harsh on him, he is doing what he needs to do, he has a gift of performing, and I for one need to see him again and again, Lovehammers were just dead in the water, and he knew it, its the right thing, and I know if they want him to play with them from time to time in the future he will.

I'm hoping your the only one that thinks "Lovehammers were just dead in the water", or a minority of few fans that think that. I personally KNOW, no matter what, their music will be alive, well, and supreme to what is out there now, no matter of their status of where Marty is. When/IF Marty returns to the Lovehammers, will be nice to know that fans appreciate and love the magic of the Lovehamemrs, and their music. But everyone has their opinions on what they like, so yeah......as a fan, I will defend them to certain points, and saying things like ^^^ is cool and appreciated, cause it's nice to know you can voice that thought of yours. just wanted to add that after going back and listening closely to the interview Marty gave Friday night, I have a lot more compassion for what he has been going through.
Many people can relate to being at that "not very good place". It sounds to me as if he resisted this for a while and finally had to do something.
I still feel for those that are negatively affected by his decision, but hope they will find some understanding and forgiveness.

I agree. The fact is, it is hard sometimes to remember the people on stage are people just like us and I heard a lot of anguish in Marty's voice. It made me want to hug him, not throw things at him. I feel terrible for him and the other guys, they are ALL going through so much right now and I will continue to pray for them, especially Marty, because I believe it would be harder to be the one "put out" by the people you are closest to in the world. I know it was his decision, but this is bigger than a band, this is turmoil inside what has been a "family" for over 17 years and it hurts to be the one left alone. So, let's make sure he isn't.
