After much discussion with Trees, we thought this would be the best place to put this thread where our friend may not look.
I thought that the Merry Christmas All Year Long video was a wonderful gift for us and it might be fun, if we collectively created a song for Marty, as a Christmas present. Folks here are so talented and I think that a gift from "our" heart would be very special.
So what do you think ? anyone interested ?
To start off; I wrote something last night about Marty after having seen the video, will not dignify it with the word lyrics, but the title is "The StoryTeller". I thought that at least the title was interesting. We could collectively write the lyrics about this amazing songwriter. I am not married to the idea, just thought i would get some ideas started. It would be really amazing if folks could also figure out how to work in some actual melody. I implement mega software systems for mega corporations, but this "fun" stuff is over my head.
And if anyone has any ideas how to keep this a secret, that would be even better. Who knows how much "surfing" he does on these boards.....no way to spot the yellow vest on our virtual island.

Not sure if you want this posted here but you got my brain going. Here is what I have..... any thoughts?
He tells us the stories of days gone by Hope, dreams, pain, sorrow What will be, will be, there's still hope for tomorrow
Reach for the morning a day untouched by pain
Reach for the morning Hope rises again
Reach for the morning Our dreams take flight
Possibility blinds us as our mind reaches new heights
An eagle soars with light christening the sky..........

Well Marty didn't visit me last night So I've added some thoughts/lines that could help others, just in case, somebody can use these to create of a song. HTH.... I'll keep adding thoughts as they come to me. The Story Teller awakens Possibility blinds us as our mind reaches new heights Merry Christmas, Happy New Year Stories shared Coloured works spreading joy and peace Gathered children, adults and Elders Listening closely For a personal message Awakening thoughts to touch the soul The Story Teller A man with many words Speaks from experience Touching the souls of others Demanding energy and movement His gifts that were given The Story Teller many a word Embracing a life shared with the world Tales of experience others have shared A love of life Anticipation awaits the expressions This line jumped out at me Wef!! I do love your submission. Thanks An eagle soars with light christening the sky

WEF, CHeza, and Trees - this is terrific. this is looking great already. I have to run and catch a plane to Denver in a few minutes. I will post what I wrote tonight or first thing in the am. Meanwhile if you have folks that you pm, that usually do not visit the creativity vault, please give them a buzz. I am very new to this, so am just starting. I think that the more of this community that participate, the more meaningful.
My thought is to collect everyone's ideas and then take some pieces of all, so it represents everyone and flow. Not sure it will work, but that is my thought for the moment. Also - do you know of any of the gang that actually sing or can put music to this ? I am not sure that we can do that, but it would be awesome. Let me know and i will PM them. This is looking to be a very fun project. I am really excited that you responded. Will check in with y'all later (love to do that----so not Bostonian !!).

There are threads in the Marty section that might help to read through to get the overall Marty experience from many viewpoints:
in What about Marty I wrote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I remember thinking..... this poor man has just snapped and lost his mind onstage. I wonder if he intended to get that wrapped up in the song? (I too was flipping the channels and didn't normally even watch tv...must've been a very boring night for people.) He really looked insane! (This was I, Alone.) Then he just turned normal again. I realized at that moment that Marty could take us somewhere terrifying and bring us back to safety and normalcy again. And he made it look like such a simple task, like anyone could do it. Others may try, Marty...others may try...
I'll try putting some poetic lines together as well...this is a great idea!

I love the idea of creating a song for Marty. Just wish I had music writing experience. I like to write poetry but I don't think that will be enough. I will check in on this thread for developments. Good ideas are coming in.

I thought I would throw something into the mix. Maybe you can find something in it. Its magic, what else could it be? with a word, a look, a lyric, a smile we're touched, we're effected, we are changed! surely you can see, its magic what else could it be? Merry Christmas to Marty and to Marty a Great Life. so it is a work in progress right?

I am back !!! To get off subject for a minute. I left 80 degree Florida (home, sweet home) this afternoon and landed in 10 degree Denver. I am with Marty on this one. Picture a 4'10" little lady kicking and screaming, "Please take me home". I seriously do not think I will ever be warm again.
OK - Back to the task at hand. sdbrins - I really love it. As I said, I am hoping this will be a collaboration of major proportion and then I will try to meld it together. At least that is my theory. Still need melody. Know any musicians here ? rockfan - please just jump in with ideas on what we should put in the song, or how the melody should sound. I do not have any writing skills either. This definitely is going to be a piece of art from the heart. Kind of like the valentines we all made for our Moms in grade school. did not matter that it was not a professional piece of work. Made it better :-) raeski - We need someone who can create the melody. I am so new to posting, I do not know alot of the gang. I see that stiletto is an aspiring musician. I'm going to PM him. Know of any others ? Any ideas on what we should include in the song ? Trees - yes. definitely need to include Trees in it.
I was trying to think about how to start the song during my flight today and came up with the this.
Dear Mr Casey, A gift from your fans at mc.org Stay tuned, dont turn that dial, there's much much more We hope you enjoy it cuz it's from our heart Just sit back and listen that will be your part
Anyone have any thoughts on how to start this off or improve on this ? I do not even remotely pretend to be able to write, so I am very open to suggestions. Meanwhile, I am off to the fangirls to look for some help with the chorus. And i am thinking that our firiends in WPCC are the perfect candidates to work on a bridge ( you know - like "Indian style on the bedroom floor, getting a kiss and wanting more"). I looked up on the internet how to write a song - only reason I know what about bridges. They certainly could give a different perspective on our storyteller. LOL. I shall return.

Interesting.........
All wonderful lyrics so far.........
I threw something together a few months ago and just tucked it away.........far from complete but maybe a line or two would befitting in the mix somewhere......
Lead Singer
I’m in the show Look at me go Don’t take your eyes off of me for a second
I am the one To take you there To the place that you are longing to be
Look at you now Amazing somehow That you seem to be lost in my dream
You like the song And sing along With your arms raised up high in the air

I LOVE this idea! I'll see what I can come up with too. I am not too familiar with writing melodies, but as I discovered at the karaoke bar during Hammerjam weekend, I will sing ANYTHING and some things I can actually sing pretty well... I would love to contribute to this project!

YOWSA, stil... ! If that were written in the third person - it definitely could be Marty. Or is it you? Maybe someone can take all that has been submitted and throw it into some sort of "MC.org Cyber Compiler".... Off to ponder....:zoom:

I know some who write music...perhaps I can find one to assist us. I'm still thinking. Nothing's jumped out at me yet...perhaps I shall do as Marty himself suggests - write for a bit...then look for the bits that jump out at you. I think I shall do exactly that...and then perhaps post something tomorrow. Today has been a long day.
Peace.
