I think that is a great idea Ceeje and also very well said Palari.
I understand people are still upset but for us to constantly go back and forth and to keep stirring the pot is senseless.

Marty made a decision and whether or not us the fans agree with it, it was his decision to make and he has to live with it. People that don't agree with his decision and don't want to support his decision are not forced to be here.

What i don't understand is everybody has been waiting for him to speak and he finally does and everyone just wants to pick it apart. Marty specifically said in an answer to a fan question that he didnt want to discuss his reasons for leaving because he didn't want the drama and then the first thing that happens when he blogs and tries to let us in, is we the fans, start creating drama.

The month of June has been quite a learning experience for me, to say the very least. Marty Casey and the Lovehammers has been my first experience in the world of 'fandom' and one that I would not trade for anything and appreciate the good, the bad, and the ugly.

There has been much talk on the lh.com board about censorship and opinions about the fans on this board. I have sincerely wanted to understand all the fans so have read most of what has been written. So for anyone who is interested here is my two cents.

Censorship - I know with certainty that I can voice my opinion on this board and it will not be removed. There is abosuletly no doubt in my mind. I have the utmost respect for Amy and Cindy and all the mods. They do what they believe is in the best interest of Marty and the best interest of the fans. I happen to not agree with their decision to disable the blog comments or ban some fans from the boards. But I understand it and respect their decision. I believe they have not done these things b/c people are voicing negative positions, they have taken action when fans are disrespectful to others. My preference is to see people in their true colors, but I respect the admins position also.

Comments about ORG fans - I understand that people are really upset and angry. I respect that. But respect me. I have met and talked with many of the lh.com folks. I will only speak of myself here. To anyone who has met me, talked with me, and thinks I am mindless....you were not paying attention.

Marty Casey is a human being and like the rest of us has flaws. I support him b/c i think he is an amazing artist and his stories and music touch my heart. End of story.

My constructive thoughts is that how can a community work if there is no freedom to be yourself, no matter who you are, where your from, or what your MORALES and values are? I've seen now those comments, pfst.....nothing bad was said or hurtful or whatever....why even put comments up there in the first place? with a disclaimer of course, ONLY positive and great remarks will be tolerated and put up with....JUST my opinion, me being me, not trying to HURT anyone, or be distasteful, trashy, or immature, just being me. Now, I only saw up to 7 comments, and those were not hurtful or demeaning to anyone, in my opinion ONLY......I'm JUST a fan expressing my distasteful feelings I'm getting also from not being able to express a thought without being jumped or harassed.

Palari- great words darlin'.....I was just responding earlier to Boston's comments about her saying that the LH's never toured that much.....I was correcting that statement and not out to compare the two bands at all. Because there are no comparisons.

HY- you have balls for expressing your thoughts here, I'm proud of ya, and hear where you are coming from. Thanks for sharing [img src="martycasey.org/emoticons/heart.gif"][/IMG]

P.S. I will add, I don't like hate either. But opinions that is not 100% positive for loving Marty, is not hate. It's opinions. From people. Not kids. Not coo-coo's. (what else has been called of these fans here, NOT by any other boards fans either) Not loons. Not babies. Not over zealously loony people. Just PEOPLE. People that have minds, opinions, and feelings.

Ok, I'm jumping in. I hated his blog. RUH ROH, I have an opinion. I'm not bashing anyone, just expressing my thoughts. I hated the fact that he said, "he's never experienced a drum solo up close".....or guitar riffs? That's dissing the band he's been with for 20 years, and their fans. It's great that he is enjoying this band, but saying that statement kicked me in the stomach to think when I experienced Ultrasound for the first time, I was totally amazed, how could he not be?

Well, I guess I was right, only "right thinking" people are allowed.

I'm never said that anyone who criticizes Marty shouldn't expect some feedback. I would be surprised if there wasn't feedback. But within the space of 1-2 hours, I can't believe there were "vile, threatening" posts in the comment thread. I have not seen anyone, anywhere say that they had seen more than the one critical comment - and it was not "vile".

Blogs are, by their nature, public not private - this one was announced on Myspace. It will be interesting to see if negative comments are not accepted in response to the blog on Myspace. They can be deleted individually over there. I'll have to go check and see what the response there is.

Marty knows how I feel about his move. I've always been totally honest with him. He's also glad that I'm trying to keep an "open mind" about LA Guns. I've never heard him say he didn't want to hear my opinion, critical or otherwise.

And as much as I've enjoyed my time over here - I'm not that 'right thinking' - uncritical Love Fests are not my style.

So don't be surprised if you don't see me around here much anymore - unless it's to visit my friends in the basement. Those that know me, know where to find me.

I remember one particular blog (maybe a year ago?) that was followed with some very vile comments... fans ripping other fans a new one, being downright nasty, verbally attacking one another. That was ugly and I would hate to see something like that happen again. Maybe it has happened since then. I hope not... but that's the one I remember. I do understand why verbal bashing isn't tolerated.

Yesterday's comments were mostly positive, though. I didn't see anything hateful or vile. I saw some anger, but I think it was to be expected. I worked in advertising for many years and after that, I was a publicist. I spent a lot of my time trying to generate some buzz and stir up some interest in X product or Mr. Whoever... make them a household name. One of my clients was upset that a local rag had a somewhat cutesy nickname for him... but he sucked it up and dealt with it because his goal was publicity... and a certain amount of negative publicity and controversy is a good thing. At least people were talking about him... and that's a whole lot better than SILENCE and INDIFFERENCE.

That's why I think silencing fans who aren't brimming with love for Marty Casey is a mistake. Ask yourself WHY they have an opinion. People don't have opinions about things they DON'T care about. Most artists (musical, visual, whatever) would tell you they don't mind it if their work (or actions) inspire love OR hate... as long as it inspires something passionate and honest. Very few artists want the response they evoke to be NICE... because nice is BORING... and boring just makes people lose interest and move on to other things that are more interesting. NICE & BORING don't fill sell tickets and pay the bills.

I'm not advocating slanderous attacks and threats of bodily harm, OBVIOUSLY. I do believe in the value of debate, though... and the value of controversy. For those of you who are so devoted to SUPPORTING Marty right now... please keep in mind that a bit of controversy is often good for the bottom-line... and people don't argue about things they don't care about. If you're really interested in SUPPORTING this man's career, you should be more concerned about people NOT caring enough to argue about him or make snarky comments about his blog. You should fear DISINTEREST, not DISSENT.

Ditto...I'll follow suit in knowing where and when to post, and if anyone has questions as to the LOVEHAMMERS, and their 20 year history, ya know where I'm at also. A place where I can live, socialize, and be free to express who I am, to whom I thought was a family, where EVERYONE was welcomed here at one time....NO matter their beliefs, or their love of someone, it USED to be place.

disclaimer: ONLY IF YOU LOVE MARTY 100%, you be here. no tolerance for 99% support, get away from us, we will jump you with Marty love......Ok, that was stupid, but that was me. I can't even compare to love Marty like some here, but that doesn't say I've dedicated MY LIFE and support and many GREAT things to that man, so yeah...I'm done here as well.

Nancy - I respect your opinion. And would just like to point out that i did not say they never toured. I said 'not that much'. I did take your advice and went to the website. I stand by my comment. What a person thinks is 'alot' is relative. Just my opinion. And it is still my opinion that being called names like ORC and mindless b/c i do not hold the same opinion as others is disrespectful. I am also vry sad about what happened and will continue to support LH. I choose to move forward in a positive way. I have that right. No one has to agree or understand me.
