Happy New Year! Looks like I'll be the first to post a poem in 2010. Hopefully it won't be the only poem this thread sees this year! LOL
Unknown
Running free… Slow it down Not a chance But will still Take in what’s around me.
I cannot see… The air is thick With mystery And possibility.
I can feel… Mist on my face, my body Purifying, cooling And yet The fire burns inside of me. Unafraid of it taking over And reducing me to ashes. Shadowy figures… Dancing in the distance Standing motionless, complete. All in their own little worlds Yet still part of the All.
Same places Different eyes Don’t know if they’ve grown foolish Or rather, grown wise.
It’s easy… Or maybe difficult To take the path Leading you to company So you don’t wind up alone.
It’s exciting It’s inevitable To wind up on the path Leading you somewhere Leading you into The unknown.

Thank you, hammersister1! I really appreciate your kind words. Glad you like my poems! I understand the feeling of being shy about sharing, but if you ever get the urge to share something that you've written...please do!! This thread doesn't get much action anymore, but it has always been a POSITIVE and SUPPORTIVE thread.

Blue - Great work on Unknown!!! And Happy New Year! Yes, this thread has become very quiet. I have not written much lately. My poor brain is mush. But promise to post when something falls out. haha.
Hammersister1 - Hi!!! Hope you decide to share your writing at some point. I would love to read it. This is a good place to dip your toes in the waters.

When I fly
When I fly, I will spread my wings, Wider than anyone has ever seen.
I shall soar above the world, With no fear or doubt.
I will believe that the light shining in my life, Will only grow that much stronger, Till my joy becomes even brighter than the sun.
Living free... I shall create my own breath... And let my heart direct my path.
Looking forward, Never looking back.
Far away... My fading past.
Before me... I shall find my way.
When I fly, I will be okay.

The Sun
The sun shall shine dear heart... You fear too much.
Seeing the constant rain, Pouring from heavenly made skies, You have begun to wonder, If it shall always be grey.
Tears fall, And you mourn for yourself.
Mourn in silent torment, For all the years you believe you have wasted.
How old were you when you dreamed of a far different future?
When was the last time you felt passion for a new day?
Too long ago...
Wipe away your tears dear heart.
Mourn no longer.
Before you, The skies beyond are just as blue, As they were before the rain began to fall.
Open up your mind, To the possibility of you.
See how much time you still have to not just dream, But to create a beautiful reality.
The sun shall shine dear heart... For I believe you are the sun.

Two for Sunday.
Legacy
We all want to leave our life’s mark Our contributions forever imprinted On the pages of infinity’s scriptures Our legacy a permanent fixture
I see your struggle to come to terms With the travelled roads of your past To understand your contributions As your journey is finally coming to rest
Your legacy cannot be measured In trinkets or coins to be counted Your mark is permanently scribbled In the hearts of your sons and daughters
Your treasures can be seen on their faces Many generations of kindness and love Your children embracing your good graces With strength to hold their heads up high
Their smiles tell the whole story The untold gift of their lives Their eyes wise before their time Generosity, kindness, and love sublime
Sons gifting their strength to their children Daughters knowing life’s gentle touch Their sweet children already knowing The importance of kindness and love
So my sweet and beautiful warrior I want you to know this Your legacy will last forever Your life touched the world with a kiss
Tears
My heart forever shattered Swords slashing hope into shreds Old armor too battered to protects us Fate cast from the heavens above
Courage suffocating under the weight of despair Fear and sadness claiming hopes high throne Life’s joy drowning in a sea of tears Walls of silence screaming the end is near
Countless battles so bravely fought and won Secretly knowing the war would be lost Words never spoken so not to betray Love staining my face day after day
As I sit alone in the quiet of night I am blinded by love’s true liquid Fearing a life sentence for the rest of my days Forever hope soaked in tears of dismay
Will there ever come a new day? When the sky will shine clear and bright Where joy and hope reclaim their throne Will there ever again be a day with no tears?

Wow, Liz, thank you for sharing those beautiful pieces. I believe the words in Legacy to be true...they serve as a reminder to me of what kind of legacy I want to leave behind for my daughters. Tears...well, it brought tears to my eyes. Beautifully written. I hope you and your family are hanging in there the best you can.

Thanks Shelly - It has been such a long time since I have written anything. It felt good to get some things on paper. I actually wrote Tears on paper. It has been a very long time since I used paper and pen rather than my laptop. I like the feel of it.
I indulged and bought myself a Kindle. I just love it and it is well worth the money for the amount of travel that I do and money I spend on paperbacks at the airports. I really like it but like the writing with paper and pen, i miss the feel of the book in my hands.
I see your posts on fb. Looks like you are keeping very busy with children and enjoying their youth. What a treasure.

Yes, there is something to be said about doing things the "old-fashioned" way. The kindle is probably very practical for travelers such as yourself, but is it the same when you just want to curl up in bed with a good book? I am all for change and progress, but I hope there never comes a time when snail-mailing real Xmas cards to family and friends becomes a thing of the past!
