Just buy a ticket and enjoy the music on the boat. Sounds simple... I thought so. A simple outing has become my mini odyssey The Promise No instructions needed Just a beautiful flower picture On the packet. Command the sun to shine and The clouds to rain. Shield it from the freezing wind. Commit unconditionally. No returns I was warned. But this is the season of blooms. Shyly a stalk emerges Weed-like. Can it be? Grow, grow! Look at the picture A beautiful flower

And so my"blue period" as Iwomusic has named it continues. And now i understand, tis the season.
Dear God
He should be gone You tried so hard That deadly disease You hid so well I did not stop And found it in time You can’t take him – he’s still mine
You broke his body and his handsome face Did you think that would stop me? From loving his quite perfect heart His gentle soul and all his genuine parts
You stole his mind But I have his heart I will fight you with all that I have Why are you trying to tear us apart You can’t take him – I won’t let you
You stifled his breath I gave him mine Why must you commit this heinous crime? To steal this man so loved, why? I will fight you – you can’t take him
So you left me with this broken stranger But I still have his heart You gave us this pure gift of love Dear God, I beg, don’t take that part
I know you always win in the end But I can’t stop – I won’t give in I know your powers are stronger than mine But I will fight for him until the end of time
Amen

hi bostongirl,
Dear God is powerful. It's full of sorrow and steadiness at the same time. It stirred something in me - something I haven't felt in a long time. Thank you for sharing it.

Great work Iwo! It takes a lot to make flowers bloom...just like a new personality trait that you never knew was hidden...an inner strength that you never knew was there inside, and it is finally showing it's beauty to the world. Great!!!

Deep Desires
You speak of fear... That occur from new changes coming before you.
Yet, I can see your deep desires.
You long to break the chains of your past.
Hunger for adventure... Something you have longed for, And never thought could be.
Release can come sweetly.
Like the intoxicating first sip of a finely aged wine, The time you have waited was never wasted, Just allowed for anticipation to fully set in.
Run with your deep desires...
Head into the strange new world of the unknown.
For only you can create it's dimensions, All you have to do is run straight on.

Hi Star & IWO,
IWO, I just read The Promise. Don't know how I missed it before. A beautiful and simple message. Sometimes you have to trust things to be what they will be.
Star,
I totally connect with Deep Desires. Especially the last four lines. They're playing like a little song in my head.
Thank you both for these. I may be in the mood for a poem. I'll give it a try in a minute.

This comes to me tonight from a strange place inside. From the colder, analytical part of me that accepts that I've never been in love. It's not sadness that overtakes me, but curiousity.
Who will find me?
I tell myself, it's better to be alone. To have quiet when I want it, To play my own precious games. To wonder what love is and to keep it away To know real love only in my dreams.
I know where I am and that's enough to know. I know where he is and that's too much to bear. But who will find me? Who will look for me in enough time to save my soul?

Star, "Deep Desires" is very interesting....it seems to closely mirror Iwo's poem "The Promise". How differently the two of you express a similar message! Iwo, I always look forward to your poems. They are deceptively simple/concise...but your allegories are never lost on me It is so difficult to write with such "economy"...and still carry such meaning. Fantastic!

Bostongirl, the pathos of "Dear God" is palpable. To me, it is an indictment, a plea, and a prayer....but defiant to the end! Are you familiar with Dylan Thomas' "Do not go gentle into that good night"? www.poets.org/viewmedia.php/prmMID/15377I think you in particular would appreciate it. Thank you for sharing such a personal part of yourself.

redjasper, I like how you systematically lay-out the case for independence, but then turn this "logic" on its head with the final lines....the explanation becomes a rationalization. Nice work.

Say
Say you love me, And that you'll always care.
Say that you love me, And that you'll always be there.
They make you sound like you are made of stone.
An unbreakable heart, Raging out of control.
I see your spirit.
Your tranquil soul.
What you hide from the world, Somehow in my eyes always shows.
Say that you love me, And that you'll always care.
Say you love me, And that you'll always be there.
What is there to fear?
I will never cause you pain.
When the world starts to down pour, I will be a safe haven from the rain.
Lost all your emotions.
I have so much to share.
I can offer my heart.
Baby, you know my heart is only for you... And never once worry that I would ever be untrue.
Say you love me, And that you'll always care.
Say you love me, And that you'll always be there.
Night may find you.
Shadows cast on the wall.
You are not alone... My heart is your home.
Hold back from breaking.
Your on the edge.
Take my hand, I will pull you from the ledge.
Say you love me, And that you'll always care.
Say you love me, And that you'll always be there.
Just say you love me, And you will always...be there.

Star, the rhythm in Say is mesmerizing. It's a melodic meditation chant. How do you do that? It's wonderful!
I'm in such a different head space, I guess. I'm not at ease with myself. Things don't emerge smoothly from me - more like chopped up and terse. At least things are emerging.
I'll keep at it. I thank you for giving me a different way to get where I want to go. If that makes sense. I'm not sure.

Star, I just finished reading "Say".....Isn't it sad that we can't convince others to love us? Sadly the heart just doesn't work that way.

Thank you RJ! Funny part is that the poems in my head made a song...so that is what I wrote...little poem song.
Now as for the 'head space'...LOL You will find your style soon enough. Just stop forcing yourself to make the words, and start opening your heart. Being at ease with yourself...That will come in time too.
