Important Message from Admin

It has been brought to our attention that a member(s) on this board has been impersonating Marty Casey through a fake email address. If anyone receives or has received email from the address [e-mail] please know that this is a hoax and it is not really Marty.

In addition it appears the same member(s) have created a fake username on this board, LL, and used a hoax email address implicating a long time member over here as the culprit to try to cause trouble. But it is all coming from the same people who have been impersonating Marty.

Any members caught impersonating Marty or other users on this board will not be allowed to participate on this message board.

Thank you for posting this Cindy . I have to speak about this if you don't mind . Whatever possessed this person or persons to do this ? It is very immature and definitely NOT funny . What do they hope to gain ? Is life that boring ? I can just imagine how Marty must feel about this . This is just too much ........

Well... I was one of the 'victims' that was hit with this two years ago in my private email . They used the same email address as posted above. It sucked and I still don't want to think that it was a friend capable of doing something so hurtful

Alright... since I am receiving questions on this matter I will say this.

1. The emails all claimed to be from Marty, except the first one that claimed to be someone working for Marty that was verifying email addresses.

2. There were a few sent over a period of time.

3. I do not know who it was... but, I hope that whoever it was realizes how awful what they did really is.

We are all here to support each other like a second family (old members and new)... and I have come to know everyone as 'family'. Yes, we have had our up's and down's, and we don't always see things eye to eye... but, that is what families are like. We are each unique and there is no reason why that should ever matter.

Why I was targeted for this, I don't know or do I care anymore. I just want whoever it is to know that I felt hurt, violated and I had lost my faith in what it was to be a member of this board for a while after I found out the truth.

However, this is my family... I forgave. I have moved on. And, I will stand here and offer my support to all my 'family' as I always have.

I just want to say that whoever did this... was it worth it? I mean you are risking losing so many wonderful friends... was it all worth it in the end? I honestly hope so... because not so many people will be so easy to forgive you as I did.

The first I heard of this was in Chicago at NYE. I will not say whom told me, but they said they did not know who it was. I agree 100 percent with Isa/Rachel. This person needs to be called out. How shallow and low is it to impersonate the main reason we all have made such wonderful friendships in our lives? I think we deserve to know whom is the culprit, so we can ignore them, god now I am freaking out that it might be someone that I associate with, i.e.= a fellow hammerhead. Truly is a sick sick sick thing they did. I hope all whom were effected by this can heal with time

im so sorry you had to go through all of that, and anyone else who did.

the person obviously is only hear to hurt people and try and break all the bonds we have not only with fellow members but with marty.

this is just wrong and im glad that the mods have taken care of it.

We've all been betrayed and violated by this. I feel really bad for those that were directly affected by this. I would like to make a suggestion though, for those of you that have your email address shown on your profile, I would change it to "hide". This will hopefully cut down on this type of crime.

Let's all move forward and not let this stop us from enjoying and participating at this message board .

It is indeed unfortunate and dissappointing to have our members and fellow fans subjected to this kind of behavior from others.

Rockfan makes a very good suggestion in having you hide your email addresses.

I would also suggest that you not forget that all the Mods and Admins on this forum are here for you if you feel the need to let us know of any suspicious goings on. We can always be contacted via the PM feature.

Wow. This is quite disturbing. What's most troubling is that people were targeted with emails and that a long-standing member was impersonated. As long as the truly guilty individual(s) were uncovered and dealt with, that's what counts.

In the aftermath, it seems so unfair for folks to have to curtail their normal board habits - like 'hide' their email. But, as we all know, the world is full of pranksters and worse. Sad but true.

I have given this much thought over the last two weeks and decided to post. Along with Star, I was another fan impacted by this both on this board and email. I do not wish to go into details, but can tell you that it was elaborate, planned, cruel, and invasive for all parties involved.

I want the world to know who these people are so that they do not exact their cruelty on other boards and hurt other people. However, I have the utmost respect for the people who have made the decision not to make it public here and understand their reasoning. So I will not 'out' anyone here.

And to answer the person's question about the law. Identity theft and fraud over the internet is a federal offense.

The admins and mods on this board are the best, most professional people we could ask for and always have and always will take care of us. I encourage everyone to take their advice and let us continue to enjoy our time here together. I would be the last person on this earth posting if I thought it was no longer a safe place to be.

So let's move foward. I think I read that 2009 has been declared the year without Fear. Works for me

I truly don't understand the minds of the people who did this. They have hurt THREE of my friends--the 2 of you, and Marty, also (and who knows how many others). That is something I take very seriously--I always have my friends' backs--always. Liz, I totally agree with you wanting people to know who they are, and yet also respecting the wishes of those who don't want it posted here.

MANY THANKS to Cindy, Amy, and the mods here, for looking out for us, and for 'taking out the trash', so to speak. They are gone, and I hope they won't be coming back!
All in all, this is a win for the good-hearted people, and I'm proud to be a member of this board.

I know that this is hard to understand. Trust me... I still don't. But, we do have to move on and put this behind us. The damage has been done, but we still have the future ahead of all of us.

The individuals that did this are no longer welcomed among this board, truly by their own doing. That should never have been the way it should have been, since we once considered them valued friends and family. I once valued them as my friends and family... not the same story anymore. I still forgive them, but as much pain that they have caused so many people I care about... I will never be able to call them friends.

I understand the hurt, anger and pain.... I understand that everyone wants to know the truth and have someone to blame. Knowing the truth of the matter now still isn't making this any easier, but... I will not be the one to 'out' them out either.

I would never think of hurting someone like that... and I refuse to be like them.

It is distressing to see frauds perpetrated upon one's friends, and worse yet, by someone who I thought was a friend and who I thought I could trust. I didn't want to believe it........it all just makes NO sense in that I can't see a motive for it. Maybe I'll never know *why*. But - if we have to occasionally pluck a bad apple from the proverbial barrel in defense of both our fellow board members as well as protecting Marty's good name and reputation and that of this forum - SO BE IT.

My compliments to Cindy, Amy and others for standing up against such bad behavior (that's diplomatic, eh?) when others might not have.

I just have to get this off of my chest once and for all...

The person that started all this drama, also started a nasty rumor regarding me and my 'alleged background'... I heard about it from a trusted friend, but I have never been able to figure out how many people were told this or who honestly believed it all.

So, I want to set the record straight.

The following information was 'googled' by the impersonator:

" In another matter:

A trio of Albuquerque people visiting someone at Western New Mexico Correctional Facility in Grants should have checked their car before checking into the prison.

Leonard Marquez, 23, Stephanie Tafoya, 25, and Lucas Tapia, 19, all of Albuquerque, apparently had a 9mm semi-automatic pistol, some marijuana and a hash pipe in their possession when they went through the gates at the prison on Lobo Canyon Road on Sept. 16.

Each is charged with two counts of bringing contraband into a jail, a third-degree felony; conspiracy of bringing contraband into a jail, and use or possession of drug paraphernalia. "



Then impersonator went on to pm and email individuals, stating that the person in that article was me and that I was not who I claimed to be.

For the record... I have no idea how anyone would believe all that in the first place... but, that was not me. I am just to a point where I am fed up with the fact that this person started this rumor, and not knowing how many people actually believed it to be true when it is an out right lie... or how many people still believe this lie to be the truth.

In 2000 I was 23 years old... and believe me I wasn't in any situation closely resembling this load of non sense. Not to mention that wasn't even my name.

By the time I was 25 in 2002... I still had never left California, was married, in an abusive relationship, and expecting my son. And, my name was still not Tafoya.

I have never pretended to be someone or anything that I am not. For those who know me on a personal basis, they will be able to attest to the fact that I am just me. I am real.

This lie and this rumor just sucks on a level that I can not even begin to describe. I just had to set the record straight... and finally get this darn black mark off of my chest once and for all. I just am so tired of wondering how many people thought this was the truth, when obviously it was not...
