What an amazing weekend: 3 days, 4 shows, tornado warnings, 4 hour plane delay, 11 hours of sleep, mind blowing music, 1 trunk show, fabulous new jewelry line, party bus~3-hour tour, spending time with wonderful friends and making new friends! I don’t have much more to add to the show reviews as many have already done a great job giving many details not to mention the vids being posted speak for themselves. I can say that I agree with everyone when they say the guys once again have taken it to a whole other level! I loved getting to hear the new material; I was truly blown away by what I heard and can’t wait for the cd to be in hand. If you've had any doubts about ordering the new CD, believe me, order it today, you will not regret it! Joan it was so great meeting you and hanging out this weekend, I’m quiet sure you are still on your hammer high, lol! So glad you got to have such an amazing show for your first time being Hammered…like I said Sat. see you in 2010! I know many, many pics were taken throughout the whole weekend by many fans; you all are in for a treat when everyone gets home and recovers. RF, thank you so much for the vids and letting me relive it, over and over again. ~Janet

I have to collect my thoughts. Just wanted to let everyone know I made it safely home on the return train journey at 1:40 a.m. Tuesday. Pray for the family of the couple the train I took on Thursday hit. Both were killed. I will write a review, but I want some time to digest it all. It was a fabulous weekend! I have tons of pics, which I will try to post soon. *hugs*

Hi everyone, this is going to be VERY long… sorry. I was a ‘Lovehammer virgin’ until Friday and I have to say, my ‘first time’ with the Lovehammers surpassed everything I had ever imagined it would be!! I’ve been a fan of Marty’s since the Rock Star show 4 years ago, but fell in love with the Lovehammers after buying their CD. I’ve been on the boards often over the past few years, but now that I’m officially a Hammerhead, I will be here much more. I’ll post about the HOB show first, then post again about the Marseilles show later. Let me start from the beginning.
Joan and I flew down from Canada at 7am Friday morning. We fell in love with Chicago…. What an amazing city (although we didn’t see much of it since we were chasing the band all weekend – LOL). We did some shopping Friday, then Joan had the brilliant idea to swing by the HOB to see where it was. When we walked in we heard the LH warming up. My heart leaped in my chest!! We couldn’t see them but we could hear them. I thought I was going to pass out!! So we hung around downstairs not knowing quite what to do. We noticed 3 other girls hanging out too, and they took us under their wing. Cheryl and Hannah (her daughter) and Sharon, who are experienced Hammerheads. Cheryl told us that we had to eat a meal at the HOB in order to get a ‘skip the line’ pass which allowed us to line up inside and be first to get in. It was 2:30pm and we had wanted to go back to the hotel shower/change, etc…. didn’t happen. So we force-fed food into our mouths (weren’t hungry at all) so we could get that magic pass.
At 5:30, they let us in and we followed Cheryl’s lead and hustled to the front of the stage. We were standing at the barrier but could reach out and touch the stage. I was standing in front of a big space between speakers and next to Edger (a personal friend of the band)… a good place to be I later discovered. We met Liz (Bostongirl) Janet (ycrney), Brenda and Rachael who were right behind us and hung with them at the next few events. Everyone was SO great!!!! We listened to 3 bands first (Frantic was awesome)!! Then, the curtains opened and there they were…. Marty had his back to the audience and I thought again I was going to pass out. The whole thing was a blur but all I can say is WOW!!!! Totally worth the 4 year wait to see them…. Bobby is HOT! No shirt, pounding away on those drums… Unbelievable! Billy was fantastic on the guitar and Dino was smiling the whole night looking like he was having the time of his life. Marty was exactly what I thought he would be and more. He had complete control of the crowd and when he did his ‘mad conductor’ moves, it was thrilling!!! The best part of the night (for me) was every time he stepped his foot onto the railing beside where I was standing. Wow! Then he jumped into the crowd beside me, walked through singing, then came back to get back on stage. Instead of getting right on stage, he sat on the railing between me and Edger so I was standing pretty much between his legs. I seriously thought about hugging him the entire time, then realized how inappropriate that would be (LOL) but I had to touch his back when he climbed back on stage.
I tried to take it all in but seriously I thought I was going to absolutely die at points. I wish I had a video recorder in my head so I could play it back whenever I want!! I took some good photos… I have to say that they are fantastic live. They mix up their songs and I loved the way they changed Trees and My Eyes…. Amazing!!!!!! Joan got a copy of the play list and had all four autograph if over the weekend. Lucky her!
After the show, Joan and I were on such a high… probably because it was sensory overload and we had been up for 21 hours! We skipped the after party and opted for sleep. We knew the next day was going to be a big one and it was…. See my next post in a day or so. J

Okay, I've finally been Hammered!!! It was worth every blasted setback that it took us to get to Chicago from Wisconsin-drove through some nasty rain puddles, got stuck in rush hour for a good couple hours, thought we were going to miss the show, but, we made it! My hubby and I only got to see the HOB show as we had to head down to Champaign-Urbana to pick up one of our sons from camp. But, what a show it was! I became a fan of Marty's during RS:INXS, which then led me to the LH music. What a fantastic performance-we were both in awe of the energy in that room. My favorite new song, by far, was 'Heavy Crown'-it made me cry. It was great to meet a few of you (Nancy, Jodi) but I wish we could have stayed for the rest of the weekend, as it sounds like it was out of control. I cannot WAIT to take in another show soon, hopefully sometime yet this summer. And would you believe it, I STILL DON'T HAVE MY MARTY AND ME PICTURE! Nancy, I may need to hire you for a photo shoot..... Thanks to all Marty/LH fans for a great Friday night! We'll be back for more! You know, it just occurred to me that I'll HAVE to see another show to get another chance at a picture opportunity...hmmm....I guess if it has to be done, it has to be done!

Lisa, Nice to hear that there are more Lovehammer fans in Ottawa! (I'm in Barrhaven) I'm so glad you got to see them live - in Chicago no less! I've been twice and both were memorable experiences. We also drove to Port Hope last year to see him perform with the Rockstar Tour. 14 hour drive - Marty performed for 20 minutes but sooo worth it!! Looking forward to reading your review of Marseilles!

Hey Dendenal! So cool to hear from someone so close - my sis is in Barrhaven! Have you seen Marty with the LH? If not, you have to go!! He is amazing. I wanted to see him for the first time with the band, not solo. It was so worth the wait. Joan and I are going to make it an annual experience...

Yes, I've seen them as a band a few times - twice in Chicago - Hammerjam and Hammerfest and in Toronto at Lees. I was very fortunate to be able to chat with Marty each time - I so wish I could have gone last weekend but it wasn't meant to be - they'll be other shows! I fell in love with Chicago too - I'll definately be going back again and again!

I'm really wishing I had this week off.....to think that they actually expect me to WORK at my job after a weekend like this! Oh, the shock!!! ;D I was finally awake enough to look through all my photos last night, and there are some goodies there, for sure! I think you all will be pleased. I had rented an amazing lens for the weekend, and it made a big difference at the HOB, compared to my photos there from last year. I'll start writing up my reviews, too. Good job on the photos, videos, and reviews, everyone!
