After reviewing all the videos for some time, no performance stands up to Creep and Mr. Brightside. He is truly awesome on those two. I know he Wowed me with Mr. Brightside (before I thought that Jordis, Ty and Mig were the best singers)...such PASSION! At the beginning I really thought Marty was totally out of tune on "Take me out", then went and listened to the Franz Ferdinand version and it's absolutely identical! He has a great musical ear...reproduced even the out of tune parts All performances are good, I have always hated Pink Floyd with a vengeance and he made me like WYWH (but I cannot watch of the video because of the coiffed hair)! Pity about With Arms Wide Open...not even Marty could make me listen to a Creed song...It's the only video I listen without sound.

"Wish You Were Here", the first time...*sigh*
"Trees" (first time he sang it and the acoustic version)
"I, Alone"...made me shiver
Mr. Brightside (acoustic??? my jaw dropped. wow. i liked it better than the original!)
HMBOMT...awesome! never thought i'd ever like that song but his version had me near tears.

Marty was the only one I felt didn't have an off performance.
Even though I loved them all, at first my favorite was
Mr. Brightside
because he was the first one to go out and play accoustic. But then, he sang
Creep
and that was it. That was the most intense performance. Nobody on that show came close to it!

My favorite(s) were... "I Alone" that spot on jump he had done was cool. "Don't Change" Marty had shown INXS how to sing that INXS song! "WYWH" Marty, with the HB, choir, and orchestra, was so serene looking---like the angel he is. "Creep" I was confused on why INXS had chosen that song for Marty to sing, but Marty rocked that song.

INXS chose "Creep" for him because it would showcase his versatility. Maybe also for the fact that Marty loves Radiohead.

For those of you who have been swooning over Marty I thought you should know he is NOT “single”. He intentionally mis-lead all the fans about his love life to get the female audience voting for him. I have learned a few interesting FACTS from a friend who knows the LH. Marty has been in a serious relationship with his college sweetheart M. for about 10 years. Yes they have had a few rough patches but they were and are back together long before the show. It was decided for the show he would play the “single” angle to win over the popular female voters knowing that would be the majority of the audience demographics. It was all for the sake of publicity. Oldest trick in the book. His girlfriend M. is an actress in NYC and she and Marty talked on the phone every week while he was in LA. She also attended numerous of the tapings out in LA and they were seen mouthing I LOVE YOU while the cameras were not on him. She was in on it all along to help him win. Marty’s first night out of the mansion was spent with her at the House of Blues Hotel. They are VERY much in-love and always have been. I hate to burst anyone’s delusions of granger but now that the show is over and “voting” does not matter for his success you can all look forward to an engagement announcement REALLY soon. It will probably be publicized as “MARTY and M. Up in the Trees again”. Just in time to promote the release of his single and everyone will think it is such a romantic story of reuniting true love and the guy wins back the love of his life just in time for the INXS tour promotions when really it will again be about PR for Marty. He's already part of the "machine" of selling lies for his greed. Not such a nice, sincere, and honest guy after all. ummmmm.......ok......I think that is way too harsh......you can have a female fan base and still be involved...lol.....some take the whole I'm for Marty thing way too far..... He's a true star in every sense of the word....and if he has a long time partner....who cares!! Why was MiG in the bottom 3 ONCE when everyone knew he was married? ?

I think I'd like to give a little shout for Take Me Out. Simply because it seemed to be the first performance that sucked everyone in. (including myself) Take Me Out is what rocked my world!!!!! I love wild Marty. I love Wish you Were Here angelic Marty. I love dark Baby One More Time Marty. I was riveted by Creep and mesmerized by I, Alone. And Trees is F'in BRILLIANT! Marty, can't get you out of my mind!

Marty was the only one I felt didn't have an off performance.
Well... that may be your opinon, and granted... I missed the first 2 shows... but I went back and viewed the performances, and Marty's version of the Kinks song You've Really Got Me really sux... although I did like him writhing on the stage while on his knees, but other than that it just wasn't that good...
But... from that point on, he showed a willingness to take advice and learn how to showcase his strengths... and that made him into the rockstar that he is destined to be...
My fav? Dunno... I really liked Take Me Out, HMBOMT, Lithium, Don't Change <my wife said she got chills when he hit the long note on 'Doonnt Chaaaaannngggee' she said she never heard the original, and didn't need to>, Creep played in my house and car nonstop for a couple days after the performance <after it was available for d/l of course>...
My kids all like his first performance of Trees...
Marty is a performer... with a powerful voice...
I wasn't all that impressed with I Alone... but he played into the song, and with his stage pressence, he pulled it off...
Marty has a risk factor about him where he takes electric rocking songs and does them acoustically...
I enjoyed his version of WYWH... but... the original still rules... in many cases, I think Marty did better than the original, but this is one case where he did a good cover for the original...
I love how he assumed the accent in Take Me Out... that is not always easy to do, unless you have experience with the accent...
Creep may have been a hidden message from OB to him, but Marty nailed it so well that if it was... they had egg on their face... lol

I have different favorites on different days. I didn't tune into Rockstar until week 7, so the first time I saw him was "I, Alone". He peaked the song a little early, but he was so much better than anyone else that I instantly got hooked. I watch "Lithium", "Creep", and "WYWH" daily.

You probably didn't like Marty's performance of that song because he never sang it on the show...........

"Creep" by far. What a powerful performance. It still sends chills when I play it (at least twice a day!). Did you notice how they cut away to JD and he was totally into it? I can't believe there was anyone there that didn't feel moved by it to some degree. I really agree that his version blows the Radiohead original away. Beside that, Lithium. It was cool how Marty told Dave he did that song to "Kick your ass" and OB really liked performance but Dave made that comment (probably cuz his nose was out of joint). How many boos where there in the audience? When Marty got the encore, Dave totally backpeddled. Marty is undeniable!

Hi Wendy:
Before the performance, Marty made the comment in voiceover that Nirvana was sacred to Dave (or something like that). After the performance, he told Dave that he did that song to "Kick Your Ass." The guys were really rocking out and really liked his performance. But when it came to Dave, he said "I didn't think it was your best performance." The crowd booood like crazy and Dave was taken aback. It was like he didn't like Marty's cockiness or something IMO. On Wed., Dave said that he had only been boood twice in his career, and that both times were on that stage. Then Marty did the encore and Dave gave a more favorable review. Oh the drama.
(BTW my husband just asked how I rememer all that and told me I've got to stop this obsession!)
Chris
