The fact that crowd was chanting "Marty...Marty" during the finale taping just warms me deep inside They were chanting for Marty right before Trees got picked for the encore on that last elimination show... Anyone else catch that? Yeah, I remember that! It was so cool - I felt so happy for him.

So J. D. was acting all charitable about giving that car to a Katrina victim and it was because it wasn't cool enough for him? Doesn't he know that people will tell what he says, even if it is off camera? Some day he may wish he had a new car of whatever model. And he said he had changed and was sincere now. :-/I read that too about him saying he was donating the car..I thought yeah sure you are..Wondering if he did? Marty was the real winner no doubt in my mind. I also chat on the other rockstar board which has gone dead there. Like everyone lost interest. But I know for a fact I know what I voted just for Marty and seeing how the forums are all for Marty= more votes..alot of votes. I still say the show was fixed and we all fell for it. I just hope MARTY CASEY SHINES and INXS fails ;D with JD as their pick.

Pete, I am not a JD hater or anything, and I did notice that I seemed to post a lot of crap on him. It wasn't to intentionally bash him, but it came across that way because, as a performer, I don't like him. It has nothing to do with the fact that he won the gig. And I'm sure that he and Marty did get along really well, but I don't know JD on a "personal" level obviously. I'm sorry that you got offended..I posted this behind the scenes scoop for fun, not to spread the hate.

Pete,
I have a dear friend who's buddy from college deals with contracts on bands. I asked my friend what his take on the show was and he said he picked JD due to the fact he was more like MH the original singer. I still had my hopes up for Marty, but he knows his music 100 times better than I do. I am a huge Marty fan, then Mig, and didn't want JD to win, that is just my style. However it turned out the way it did, and I couldn't be happier. I don't think I have ever dissed JD, nor do I plan too. He did what he did, and the others as well. I wish nothing but the best for INXS, but my real feelings will always be Marty Casey.
Also my friend stated the reason INXS didn't pick Marty was due to talent, they would be holding him back, whereas, Marty will be moving on to better things. Now that is just his opinion working with these type situations. Marty would have over excelled INXS, so things work out for the best. jmo

You know, I just remembered something from the show that bugged me.
I mentioned how the remaining 3 guys were asked why they should be picked as the lead singer of INXS. Well, one of the chicks sitting behind me yelled out "Because he's HOT!", when they asked Marty. When they asked JD, she said, "Because he has HEART."
That bothered me because I think it's the other way around, totally. Marty's an old soul, and has a lot to offer besides standing on stage in tight pants and looking like the sex. (even though he does that quite nicely)
My venting is over. Thanks.

Pete -
I'm sorry that there is the "J.D. bashing" going on. I enjoyed Marty's performances more so than J.D.'s, BUT this was INXS's choice in the end and I hope it all goes well. For all 15 singers. I couldn't see Brandon fronting INXS, but I'd probably enjoy seeing him perform some Southern fried rock while I was eating a plate of eastern N.C. barbeque! :-D
Let's all have fun here and try to play nicely. For J.D., for INXS, and especially for Mr. Peaches.
You can go play now ...

I think you can't really believe anything you see on tv. They edit and put what they want to in the show. The only part they can't fake is the talent. Either you have it or you don't. Obviously there are a lot of people who thought JD had talent and thought he should win. I think he is a good lead singer. It is too bad they always have to play with the relationship issues just to get better ratings for tv. Reality TV my a**. From the show it looked like everyone hated JD, but Marty said he and JD are friends. I tend to believe Marty. Also, did anyone else catch the radio show this morning with Marty and Dino? Marty said he, JD, and Jordis co-wrote Pretty Vegas. When did RS:INXS ever mention that?? They led us all to believe that JD wrote that song with a little help from Andrew. Hopefully when they do release Pretty Vegas Marty will get credit on the album and maybe some $$ from the proceeds.

i've read from another thread that marty and jordis was given credit during the Labor Day show... dave said something about marty writing/co-writing 3 of 5 of the original songs performed that day (he was asked how does it feels to have contributed something in 3 of the originals... paraphrasing here...): Try Not - marty and jordis Pretty Vegas - JD, marty, jordis, jessica Trees - marty apparently, that was edited out (i think...)... also JD wrote in his blog that he had asked permission to marty, jordis and jessica to use PV as his original... so i think, INXS was pretty aware that marty, jordis and jessica have contributed to the song and should be credited... so yeah, i was surprised when it was only JD's and Andrew's name on the music sheet... wonder of wonders....

Did anyone else attend the tapings? -Mig signing "I love you" to his wife, who was in the balcony, about a thousand times during the breaks, and then crying at the beginning of the show (before they started taping) Awww....that's f**king cute. I wonder why he was crying before they started taping. Well, probably because it was the finale & I'm sure that's quite emotional... His performance of "Bohemian Rhapsody" was flawless. That's a f**king hard song to do...I give him crazy mad props because I know I should. He's no Marty Casey, though. Haha. MiG may be no Marty but he is lightyears beyond Juh Duh!!!!!!!!! MiG and Marty both have fans for life in me

My girlfriend went to the show with me, and had never even watched an episode. She totally fell for Mig when she saw how cute and quiet he was. (which is cool, but I was all, "WHAT! Where's the Marty love?")

PETE- I've read much of the same things you've said from people who attended the finale- about JD and the Civic question, and about the the Easy Easy performance. I'm a fan of both JD's and Marty's, and I hate this continued animosity between the two camps. I mean, the guys are friends, so why should their fans be enemies? It doesn't make sense to me. I think part of the reason some of the JD-folks on the MSN site were in such an uproar about the Pretty Vegas writing credits was because of how that whole writing clinic was portrayed on TV. It seemed to be really Marty/Jordis vs JD, and it looked as though neither had contributed to the other's song. And I think it was also an issue of timing: Marty only mentioned co-writing the song after it has become popular on the radio, etc. After listening to the radio show, it seems that Marty was only mentioning that in a light-hearted way, and that he had no intention of getting any cash from PV. I think some people are just flipping out for nothing - but it's to be expected given the bitterness between the Marty and JD camps. That being said, I am disenheartened by some of the JD bashing on this site. I think that should be kept in the gutter at the vile MSN boards. Like I said, I am a huge fan of both Marty and JD, and I wish there was a place where the two interests could be reconciled in peace. I am new at this site, but I think I'm going to stick to the JD site I go to, where Marty bashers are put in their place (most of the time ). Peace

That was a real revelation to me. Why didn't INXS mention that Marty and Jordis contributed to the finished product? I hope he gets a cut of the proceeds. Someone at another board said that the DJs talked about this again on the radio and said that Marty was joking about co-writing the song. So that kind of ends the whole discussion right there. They said that they received lots of emails about that comment and also the one where Marty called some of his fans "freaks". It was also said that JD and one of the other band members might be on for an interview as well. So it sounds like everything is fine and Marty was just joking.

I read this too. I was a little shocked when I heard the interview yesterday and really didn't know what to make of it. Glad it was meant to be a joke......nearly caused World War III yesterday on another board. Our Marty is just not that type......he has proven his integrity. Hope he learned a lesson from this, tho. He has to be so careful what he says to the media.

um...it wasn't a joke about co-writing PV...he needs to get his piece of the pie. If he helped with even ONE WORD of that song, he deserves royalties. That's how co-writing works. I don't think he's trying to take away any glory from INXS or JD...but songwriters HAVE to stand their ground or they end up losing in the end.
OH and some fans CAN be freaky....really....they can.

I'm pretty sure there was mention made (by Dave and JD)during those episodes of Marty helping JD with his song. I guess we'll find out when they release the extended video versions of the show.

Ok, I know this probably sounds crazy. But I went back to RS:INXS blog pages and looked up JD's blog (first time reading his, but anyway). He did say he asked permission from the others to sing the song because it was the one they did together at the song clinic. Therefore they did write it all together. I copied and pasted the blog below so I got it all correct:
September 3rd With less than three weeks left, things are getting very exciting around this mansion (haunted hotel). I’m singing "Come As You Are" and "Pretty Vegas" at the next performance show. Thanks to you (my friends) I'll have a chance to do the song I gave to Jessica. "Come As You Are" is a potent rock classic. I only hope I can kick the s*%t out of it! "Pretty Vegas" is an original inspired by the master Andrew Farriss. It is written along with the track he gave us for our song-writing clinic. I want to thank Marty, Suzie, MiG and Jordis for allowing me to do it. They saved themselves a long night of arguments (hahaha). P.S. You know you had a great night when you wake up with birthday cake in your ass. Peace 448
Hopefully this clears up the debate on this subject !!

Well, I think for now I'm going to believe Marty when he said that he was joking. Apparently the DJs talked to him and said that they misunderstood him and he said he was just kidding around.

yeesh... why can't people take a joke?! he was obviously kidding. i mean really does Marty Casey seem petty enough to demand fractional royalties from some crappy song that nobody likes?
As Mig says at the beginning of EVERY PERFORMANCE... "C'MON PEOPLE!"
