I heard the interview and the hosts told Marty that he might be entitled to some royalties. He didn't bring it up, and sounded like it had never occurred to him. And he is such a talented and generous songwriter, I am sure he is not going to begrudge JD and INXS the success they will have with the song. He'll be writing a lot more hits for the Lovehammers, anyway!
And his comment about "freaks" was in the context of the fan mail that his parents are reading because he's too busy right now. It was also clearly a joke ... you can tell by the way he said it. Anyone who saw his performance of "I, Alone" knows that he is quite comfortable around "freaks."
But isn't it amazing the amount of hyperscrutiny he is already under? Can you imagine what's going to happen when the Lovehammers hit it big?

Wendy, I agree about the hyperscrutiny. I'm sure the worst is yet to come.
I'm just having a problem with some of Marty's own fans who think he shouldn't lay claim to something he co-wrote. I want him to get credit for everything he does, even if JD is singing the song.

But isn't it amazing the amount of hyperscrutiny he is already under? Can you imagine what's going to happen when the Lovehammers hit it big? That's true that the scrutiny of what he says will increase as he becomes more well known. But I don't think this particular incident quite qualifies as mere increased scrutiny. This was the result of a dedicated group of people who have decided to actively hate Marty and everything about him and read malicious intent into his every word, blink and twitch. I suspect the real root of the issue is that despite the fact that Marty "lost" the INXS gig, he (& Lovehammers) have actually been in the news more (at least during this past week while he's been making appearances in Chicago), and it's become a real sore point to those folks who thought the rest of the world would drop away so that the spotlight could shine only on the new INXS. Once INXS gets itself back in the news more, some of the obsession on the part of the Marty-haters will probably die away again too.

So J. D. was acting all charitable about giving that car to a Katrina victim and it was because it wasn't cool enough for him? Doesn't he know that people will tell what he says, even if it is off camera? Some day he may wish he had a new car of whatever model. And he said he had changed and was sincere now. i could see that J.D. hadn't changed..I KNEW THAT...He only won cause apparently he kissed up to INXS...guarantee that's the only reason

Pretty Vegas (the single) is out and n. 4 on iTunes, so I guess that will calm them for a while.

I did notice how Brooke Burke would always say Martys name while announcing him (she looked at him like she wanted him) , I made a comment to my husband about it and he thought I was just jealous...lol

I concur, sillygirl. Can we blame her? Also, totally jealous over here that she got to hug him all the time.
