RS Supernova - Reviews of Live Tapings!

OMG!!!

OK so all my fellow hammerchickies that were supposed to go w/ me ended up not being able to, so I went alone, cuz I KNEW after last weeks crappy performance that Lukas was gonna tear it up...so I went. I made friends w/ this awesome rocker couple behind me and we stuck together the whole time. so tonight was a "friends/family" thing so there were actullay only 100 spots avail out of 700 for fans and stuff...so 600 were VIPs. well we were like 130 back and there was already a goup of people let in so it looked like we werent going to make it. but the girl (Nicole) I was with is really into visualization and the "core" and a lot of new age stuff..etc so she said since I knew what it looked like inside and they didn't I should immagine us three walking in, and just visualize it. so I did...ha ha. Anyway, the PAs came out and said no more spots were open and to go home but we knew we were still going to get in somehow so we stuck around then the producer said he needed to fill about 20 seats or so and that is how many there were of us...and eventhough we wanted to be on the floor, not in the seats we agreed. so they take us up...and we are still talking to the PA saying we really want to be on the floor, so thay all everyone in except us three and put them in the seats...and we heard Dilana starting her song so the show was starting ...so the fabulous PA that he is says...."c'mon...I'm going to let ya'll on the floor by the rockers" and we are so excited...so we walk in and have to stand backstage until Dilana finishes taping her song and he takes us right there...it was genius, and funny enough it was EXACTLY where I pictured us standing...isn't that crazy!!!! Everyone was really good tonight...Dilana rocked it from what I could see, and 2 members of supernova played. we all knew gilby would, but then on another song someone else got up to play ..the crowd went crazy. Dave kept standing up w/ his shirt open and I was really enjoying that...Everyone is ging to trip out on Ryan, how he is dressed, and what he sings...we all know the song he sings VERY WELL!!!! ha ha. hint hint.

So I was like 2 people away from Lukas where he was sitting and he looked over at me and I held up my hand and smiled (I had written "Lukas" on my left palm and it looked really cool) so I was holding up my hand and when he was smiling at me he finally realized what I had written on my hand and he was like his face brighted up and he got a huge smile on his face and he winked at me then gave me a big kiss (a smooch in the air) I'm glad he got to see it...just a little inspiration for him to go crazy on stage. so everyone performs..Zayra...looked fabulous, but it is way too over the top and just not right for supernova, but I have to finally admit that she did sing very well. Storm came up and did a great job, and when she was doing her little "interview" w/ the guys after she sang she was being funny and did the splits and ripped the crotch in her pants from the front to the back,,,it was genius...you could see everything...black thong and all. ha ha. but she of course was a good sport abaut it. she had to wrap a jacket aroud her until someone came back w/ new pants for her. ha ha. OK OK, so the entire reason I wrote this....

LUKAS!!! I am NOT going to say what he sang, but it was my worst fear that someone would sing this song since Marty did it sooo well last season on RS, and I would never want anyone to sing it cuz I assume they would mess it up. When Lukas sang it the crowd went absolutely insane, and when I say insane I mean the screaming would not stop, even as Dave was trying to speak. Dave asked him how it felt to get a standing ovation every time he sang, Tommy and the rest of the guys were blown away and said that that was his best performace to date, his vocals, how he controlled the stage, how he started slow then blew the roof off...etc. Dave said it is amazing to him to see how he can effec people while just standing there. I don't know if anyone has any idea what song he sang, but cruise your mind and think of one of marty's most well known songs and you've got it. though Lukas did a differnent arrangement so it was still different. What was funny is that after the show was over they had to go and do a "pick-up" from when brooke was introducing him because the screams were way too loud when he 1st came out. so thay had to re-record it, and it was funny cuz after he re-taped it he went to sit down and Ryan says..."I think they were screaming for you louder this time lan last time" and lukas just sort of gave him that little smirk and tilt of the head...like "well?? I know...that is awesome" ha ha. so they may have to edit the sound on that cuz when lukas gets onstage there is no controlling the crowd. anyway...that is my review. Magni did really well and I could see his baby from where I was, they has little headpones on him it was so cute. Patrice was decent, but needs to go, toby was good...he used a megaphone thing..what is the name of those...i just went blank...JD used one in pretty vegas??anyone one of those and dave called i=him on it...said it was too gimicky and he has already seen that on this stage from someone last season, and dave said "and who used that" and the crowd yelled out JD...so he says yea...tells him to try to do his own thing...bla bla bla...then tommy leans over to dave and says something and dave says to the crowd....yea, I guess JD DID win last year!!! ha haha. that was funny. Anyway, I hope I didn't give too much info, but it was an awesome time...I can't wait to see it tuesday..I hope you all enjoyed my review.

too when I was a youngin' (23) and went to the tapings for
Solid Gold... Sorry no seats left to the crowd, and we were the
next two to go in Next thing we know security says the
hosts parents couln't make it so they ripped off the tape on their
reserved seats at the very front of everyone!! So cool when
that stuff happens

OK folks I'll try to give a preview of the RS SN taping today without giving too much away.

First of all a shout out and big thanks to polarfan who saved my friend Karen and I a place in line and then I lost her when we got inside. Glad you made it in and sorry we got separated! Thanks PF!

Today was acoustic day. So everyone sang unplugged. They had a strings section there which was really cool and added some interesting depth to the performances.

The funniest part of the taping may never make it to air. Dave and Tommy kept calling the show--the "stripped down" version. So right after the show started. Dave and Tommy took off their shirts but apparently the producers made them put them back on during the first commercial break. Then at another point I turn around to hear SN's comments and TL is sitting on the couch barelegged with a pillow over his private parts! Couldn't tell if he had underwear on--it was a big pillow! ;D ;D Then the next time I turned back he was wearing pants again! Don't know how much will make it to air but these boys were taking stripped down to a whole new level. Watch out for Toby he's in on the act too this week! (You'll probably be able to see this in the reality show portion airing on the Internet in the morning.)

OK teasers about the performances:

Zayra: Sang an original song. I thought she sang it well. The clothing wasn't as weird this week but it still all Z. Somehow she is growing on me (don't throw tomatoes.) But she is so not right for SN.

Lucas: I had a hard time seeing his performance because he sat and played a guitar while he sang and there were tall people and a camera man in front of me. But he really brought a rock intensity to the chorus of his song--acoustic which I thought was really cool. (People know he's not my favorite but I'd put him in this week's top 3!)

Toby: Did a good job on his song but not sure it shows his skills for SN. I like him! I like his voice. (And as I said--you are going to just howl when you see the reality episodes!)

Patrice: It's her turn to go I think. Didn't do anything new this week. She can sing OK she just bores me.

Storm: I love Storm--both her attitude and voice but she drew a stinker of a song this week. It didn't do anything for her as far as showing she could front SN. (Don't get me wrong. There wasn't anything really wrong with her performance--I actually liked it but it wasn't SN material. And it's a song that is so overdone!) But the upside is Marty got a shout out from Dave who said--you needed to do with that song what Marty did with Hit Me Baby One More Time.

Ryan: Wow. For me, one of the better performances this week. He takes a song we've all heard a million times and added some intensity that worked for him. I really liked him this week.

Dilana: I love her! She is captivating. Took an old classic and had me with her the whole way.

Magni: I like his voice and would probably buy a CD from him but I don't find him that interesting to watch on stage. It took me a long time as I was writing this to even remember what he sang or anything about his performance and that in my book puts him in danger land!

That's it for me. I had a great time at the taping. It is so fun to go! Wanted to share a little with you all without spoiling the show for you. Hope I succeeded.

I got on the floor.

I also met more girls who LOVED Marty but had no idea what he was doing now so did some ST'ing also.
Overall this was an interesting show can't wait to hear all your comments once you see it **=) **

I agree with you pf. Storm did a good job with the hand she was dealt. After all the producers put that song in the mix and then she gets slammed for it. I'd love to see someone arrange that song into something that SN would think worked for them!

Yesterday's taping was Incredible!

Thanks to K87, we had priority tickets and didn't have to wait in the looooooonnnnnggg line!

We got in pretty quickly and anchored a spot to the right of the catwalk.

A few comments on the hosts:

We saw Brooke's baby 'bump' and her true colors showing. Every show has a warm up guy who gets the crowd ready. He called some little white guy up to the stage and had him do this rap song. After he was done, the warm up guy asked Brooke to give him a hug for his efforts. Her reaction was less than warm and fuzzy. It was more of a ha ha - I don't think so. I think the crowd actually booed her.

Supernova announced a 5th judge for the evening. I'm thinking Marty(Yay!!!), or __.__.(boo),who can it be? Well, it turned out to be Gilby's adorable dog who sat through most of the taping.

On to the rockers... I'll give ya a little tidbit without giving too much away:

Patrice sang her original song. The song was a little too happy for SN, but she actually looked and sounded better than she had in awhile.

Magni did a good job, but SN criticized him for not playing the guitar when he should have.

Ryan tore it up with his original song. He played guitar, sang awesome and ran all over the stage. He even threw his electric guitar across the stage (and broke it - I'm pretty sure) This was the crowd favorite (in my opinion) Earlier Dave Navarro had made a 'David Blane' reference to Ryan, "How did it feel when you were frozen in ice on Time's Square" It was pretty funny. After Dave's critique of Ryan's song, Ryan told Dave he wished that he could made Dave disappear. Dave took a lot of ribbing from the contestants last night.

Storm made up for last week's stink bomb and had a heck of a conversation with Dave. He teased her about borrowing his clothing (a black corset) and asked Storm to be sure to take it back in when she was done with it. She replied with something like "OK, Little Man - come and get it". Dave raised his left hand (minus his wedding ring) and said, "I can now - you guys can't read the paper" in reference to his single status.

Dilana and Toby both wanted the same song and let's just say that Toby got his payback. Dilana did a good job with her song - I won't give away the song, but she replaced the chorus with her name - it was a cute touch. My niece was on the other side of the catwalk, and Dilana told her that she liked her hair - How cool is that!

Toby took off his shirt and ran into the crowd - just past my niece - I think she grabbed him - way to go girl!

Lukas closed the show with probably his best performance - Supernova and Dave loved him.

I know there's nothing better than seeing it live, but I think this is a show you don't want to miss!

did they say anything to Dilana about the press interviews she'd given earlier (in the reality portion of the show)? She was dogging everyone, and really unprofessional. i can't believe they didn't call her on that. Thought maybe it was edited out.

So awesome that you got to see the show in person!!!

OK, so I just got home from the taping today w/ a couple of our girls. We were lucky to get in, eventhough we we only about half way back in line. only a couple more people behind us even got in so it was good. we got stuck in the seats behind SN which sucks, but like i said i was just happy to get in, and it was kind of cool to have a new perspective of the show.

So as we all know, this is the "viewers choice" show...so we have all seen all these songs by someone else..which is fun to see how someone else thinks the song should be. sooooo

So Lukas opened the show w/ "Lithium" just let me say IT WAS AWESOME!!!! He didn't change how the song was that much, but he definately put a spin on it and had several "breaks" in the music...it was soooo good. Even jason was throwing his fist while he was singing and even stood up during it. Dave was blown away and Tommy was speechless. I know I am biased toward lukas, but it was the best performance of the night. I am sure a lot of folks here will try to compare it to Marty's, but try not to. I think when you do that it diminishes the new performance and Lukas did a kick ass job!!! Marty would have been rockin his head to it...it was sooo good. and thankfully he didn't turn his back not once...so so good. Magni came out and sang "I Alone" and it was pretty good, nothing to write home about in my book, but it was a good performance. He said to Dave that he really hated having to perform after Lukas, but that he had no choice. ha ha ha. Ryan sang "Clocks" he played on piano and seems very comfortable there. He then pulled out every trick in the book, his performance was very acrobatic...just watch to find out, He got some great and not so great comments from the guys, but overall it was well received. Storm sang "Wake me up" by evanescence and it was OK...someone sang back-up for her and I think he helped her a lot..the guys I think liked him on the song more than they liked her. It was funny, Tommy always tries to say something positive to them and he was trying to be nice, so he said "he loved her LOVER tattoo on her back" he almost said nother about her performance...but I think it was dave (maybe gilby) that said she was in the top 6 and should have brought something a lot stronger than that.. uh oh!!!

So then Toby came up and sang Rebel yell. He did a great version...very straight forward, he did a little stunt at the end which had SN all over it...tommy loved it of course...i will let you see. but it was pretty funny. While he was talking to dave he said he thought it sucked that he had to do do that song after Lukas did it, cuz how cold he ever do it justice after Lukas's performance the 1st week. But SN assured him he did a great job. Dilana closed the show w/ "Mother Mother" the song Jill had originally sang. Dilana's was much harder (of course)..all her hair was down so she was throwing it everywhere....and then spent a lot of time w/ sasha in the band and was being very interactive w/ the band...but she did a great version of that song and the guys loved it.

OK....so here is some stuff that I KNOW will never make it on air. As sson as SN came out Tommy had his shirt off...and then they sat down and his stylist came out w/ a shirt. Dave said that the CBS sensors were making tommy put his shirt on and tommy said that was BS so he threw his shirt in the audience. The stylist got it back and he put it on, but he said he wasnted a "naked rockstar" and wanted everyone in the whole place to take opff their shirts. Dave was humoring him and said they would do it sometime during the show.. So every break tommy would ask if it was time for "naked rockstar" it was soo funny. So there was SO much cursing going on that I will be shocked to see how they edit this one. I think it will be tricky The shit w/ Dilana really hits the fan and Jason gets really pissed about it, he is cursing and pissed and says that "F"ing people who edit this shit are really putting out some bulshit" he is mad how they are dragging out all the drama w/ dilana...and so a lot of banter about that w/ the rockers and the guys was going on. I'm not sure what will make it on air so I won't say much. But needless to say everyone is ready to get over the drama and get back to the music. The drama you will see is out of controle!!!!!!!!! and this discussion went on forever, I know you guys will only get to see a miniscule part of it...but dang...out of control!!!

OK...last thing......there were a few pickups to do after the show was over because of so much cursing, so dave had to do one where he was directing a comment to Dilana. He was just asking the director.."can't you just bleep me out dude?" this is stupid...so he tried his line again w/out any cursing and then he started to laugh and was like "this is so stip..it sounds gay" so he started acting like a littlw nerdy guy..saying" oh this is splendid, and golly gee dilana, dont you think"...and this was going on forever..he was cracking us all up, even himself. ok, so while this is going on.tommy is getting anxious in his seat saying "the show is over when is naked rockstar" you have dave acting like a geek and tommy yelling he wants clothes off!! and the director just wanting to get the shot. I was laughing so hard. So then dave tries to give his line again and tommy says "f**k it" and takes off is shirt and starts walking slowly back and forth in front of dave as he is trying to tape...it was sooo funny. then he grabs dave's head and it holding on to it...the director is yelling. he was not amused. it was the funniest I have seen them be. then finally it was done and dave took off his shirt and they stood there for everyone to see....GENIUS!!!!

ok...I hope you all enjoyed my long review. I will do it again next week. I hope there are no "spoilers" I don't want to get in trouble by Kelley! ha ha ha. Hi Kelley!

hi everyone, I know I've been M.I.A...
but I actually got out of the house today & went to the taping with Diva & her hubby & K87. I think this was my favorite show yet just because all of them really put a performance ON today...
It was Lukas, Magni, Ryan, Storm, Toby, & Dilana...

I won't say what songs they all sang to leave something to look forward to, but the drama with Dilana definitely heats up, it'll be interesting to see what ends up on the show & how it may affect her. The comments from SN will probably be edited out. More on that after the show. I don't like how she ends up looking like the victim. I actually really liked her performance - especially because she brought in her emotion with her relationship (or lack thereof) with her own mother into the performance. This was one of her best performances to date, but I personally think she'd be really boring to see in an entire concert.

I do like Magni & Ryan more than I did in the beginning, both had great performances with lots of energy & emotion. The dark horse even mixes it up a bit with some stage moves & Magni makes his way back by the judges for a bit, but Dave & TLee are disappointed he doesn't go all the way into the bleachers.

Storm - just BUGS me lol!! I know a lot of people really really like her but I just think she is so rehearsed & always on 'show' & there's just something about her that reminds me of a man in drag. (hmm, maybe the fact that she's always channeling Ozzy or the fact that she's always looking like her sister died when she finds out who's going home next...) Sorry Storm fans...the best part of her performance is that she brought one of the other rockers up to sing backup - IMO - a mistake because that person was better than her in her song.

Toby - well I was a little worried about Toby cuz what he sings, well it was just a really good impression of the original song - don't get me wrong Toby is very nice to look at, even more so in person - but I just didn't know what he was gonna bring different to this song, & then slam! he did it. I think the girls down in the front of the catwalk are probably STILL on their high

And of course there's Lukas...I've thought Lukas was the best for SN since the beginning but I think his performance today sealed the deal. I know there's a lot of Lukas haters out there...sorry, but he really is the total package for this band.

SN & PPoD were soooo hilarious today, so much will be edited out, I'm sure, but there was one point where Dave had to do a re-take & Tommy was adamant about Dave doing it naked - aka shirtless, at least. He was enrolling the crowd into getting naked/flashing & Dave was howling trying to get through the take. Tommy then took his shirt off & started pacing back & forth in front of Dave while he was trying not to laugh, & then finally leaned right into him holding on to him. Dave was cracking up & said TLee & him together was [dangerous] but what a brilliant idea. Brookie, I'm just not getting her outfits this year...

Edited to add bottom 3 - Storm, Magni, Ryan & if we're lucky Dilana. (there will be TWO going home this week or next!)

Thanks for the review Jodie and K87. I love reading about the live tapings and all the stuff we don't get to see when the show airs. I am really on the fence about who I think should win. Right now I'm really liking Magni and Ryan. Sorry, but I just don't hear what everybody else hears when Lukas sings. (maybe Tuesday's show will change my mind) Dilana hasn't done anything new since she started. She is really good, but I think she peaked a while ago. Toby is cute and can sing, but is he roit? Not sure. Stormy just isn't going to win it.

well I already love his voice, his style , his stage presence...so I pretty much love everything he does, but some are better than others of course... But honestly it was a really great performance of Lithium....listen to how he does the arrangement. It is awesome!!!
