Lesley, I can't find Dino's message at LH.com
Can you explain where it is over there?

Thank you Stiletto and all. I've been a bit scared after posting my opinion after reading some of the backlash on the LH.com site. It seems that some believe in freedom of speech at least to the extend of whatever is always in favor for the band. I am in favor of the band but believe that everyone has a right to express an opinion without fear of being slaughtered for it.

Meant to say "extent" above not extend...
Do any of you know if "Yes It Do" is recorded anywhere? I fell in love with that song from the video.

Oh dear, I hope I didn't make you think that I want to slaughter someone for their opinion. I had someone else chastise me today for my reaction to the show as well. I DID NOT know what to expect and I guess I hadn't thought it would be so over the top. I still don't plan on listening to it myself, and I would have HOPED that the LH would have conducted themselves a little better than the comments I read indicated. But I still love their music. Maybe I'll just buy the CDs and not go to the shows though.

Most definately not you Keysunset. There are just some very vocal people on LH that scare me a bit. Do you also post on Leper Pop? I just can't get enough of them. Moist's latest is just too hilarious...

Very well said kahlo. No one should ever be afraid to say what's on their mind, or apologize for their feelings. It doesn't mean you're not a true Lovehammer fan if you disagree with the band. That's just life.

You all might be interested in Dino's response just posted at LH.com: --------- WOW! I just heard about this, so I thought that I should come on and say something. I personally had a great time at Fearless and everyone there was great. I understand that some people could have been offended by the content, BUT it was a sex show guys - the show wouldn't work, and it wouldn't be fair to the fans of the show and our fans if we sat there and pretended we were virgins. Some of the stuff was even shocking to me, and Billy had me blushing, but that is what was so great about that interview - it was real. I read some of the threads on these message boards and blush just as much from what people say they want to do to Marty, etc - so I dont' get people being prudes all of a sudden. I am assuming everyone that listened to that show has had sex, and most likely similar stories in one way or another. The main thing that people have to realize is that 90% of what was talked about during the show was shit that happened when we were 16. Stupid kids experimenting and making mistakes etc. Since then we have all gone on to high school, college, and become decent human beings - at least I think we are. We are not perfect, but nobody is, and if someone doesn't like to hear about masturbating or losing their virginity then I am sorry. We are honest and we are rea, and always will be. My advice - if we are on a dirty or sex show - cover your ears!!!!!!!!!1 XOXO, Dino 'de La Mancha -------------- Personally, the show was funny to me. I like Dino's response too. It's honest. Very good response. Fair enough. And also: Kahlo, I totally agree with this sentiment. That was really my major issue w/ the interview I guess. I'm not gonna back down or apologize for what i said, I still love those guys despite that. Everyone's not perfect. And I like Dino's response. I think some of the problem was that people got the wrong impression about the show. It's cool though, whatever LOL

Thank you Dino for responding to your fans. It always means alot. I expected there would be plenty of cus words and lots of sexual references, with the boxer, pj, and other type of promo statements. I did not expect it to be so literally crude. But then again I did not give alot of thought to the type of show it is nor did I give any thought to what their ususal audience would normally hear. I guess I was expecting some form of a real interview about the guys and their music. I love Marty Casey and I love the music the Lovehammers make. I fully intend to continue to support them, buy their music, and see them live whenever possible. However, I will in the future do a better job of investigating the type of show they are going to be on. ;D Sharon

Well said Dino! It was fairly obvious from the appearance of the website that it would be "risque", althought I hardly got to hear any of it but good on Dino and a very good response.

I am brand new to this board but I just couldn't keep my mouth shut any longer. I've wanted to post this ever since I saw the Live/Raw DVD and hearing last night's show just did me in... Like all of you, this summer I stumbled upon Rockstar:INXS. And again like you, I saw that one of the contestants stood out far above the rest - Marty Casey. He seemed to embody a unique combination of creativity, charm, charisma, and sensitivity rare in a “rock star”. He seemed to respect women and hold them in high regard. The more I saw of him on the show and read about him in articles and on his fan sites and even through his own words the more I thought he was quite special. He seems to revere his family - especially his mother and sisters. He seems genuine and laid back. On stage, though, he is this dynamic little firecracker who can’t be held down by anything or anyone. A truly mesmerizing combination. Up to this point I haven’t seen anything from him, specifically, to counter that impression. However, I recently viewed a friends Live/Raw DVD. I absolutely loved hearing the music and seeing the band perform - they are incredible musicians. But seeing the “Hammerhouse” with Bobby and Dino, and where Marty also lived, just made me feel like these guys adhere to the typical “bad boy musician” syndrome. What happened to artists expressing themselves through their music without having to show bare breasts and women making out to seem cool? There were and are great artists who were able to do that, believe it or not. And hearing last nights antics just confirmed my impression. I, too, would like to think that Marty is "above this" and "too classy" but he is, after all, best friends with these guys, has grown up and partied with them since he was 14, and lived with them. It would be putting blinders on not to see that he must have taken part in some of this. Yes, I’ve heard the argument that “boys will be boys”. I don’t buy it. Who says “boys” (who are old enough to be men) have to act like hormonally challenged degenerates? Now I'm sure these guys are nice to their fans and are probably good to the old and less fortunate (one of my measures of humanity). Can the band help it if an eager fan decides to show her enthusiasm in a less than discreet way? Of course not. Do men have to give up their prolific pile of porn? Not at all. All I’m saying is that this group of great musicians not endorse the further degradation of women by showing all the tits and ass on their videos, etc. and avoid stooping to the level of some idealized motley bands stereotypical past. Not because I believe that it leads men astray or leads to violence against women but because I believe that the band and their music are better than that. They don’t need to be part of yet another image that young girls feel they have to aspire to and that young men think is the norm. Guys, treat the fans like the intelligent, marvelous women and men they are and show the world what intelligent, marvelous, authentic, grown MEN I’m sure you can be. It’s easy to be a boy but it takes true courage, strength and integrity to be a man. I do love your music. You are on a powerful path right now. Be the kinds of artists that can set an example of respect for women. Not by standing at a pulpit and preaching but simply by not showing the tastelessness. It’s that simple. Really, it is. Whether you like it or not you are role models. All of us are, really. You can still live your rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle and party till dawn without subjugating women. It isn’t that hard to be cool AND conscientious. Make it about the music and not the sexist sideshow. Better yet, I think they should be whoever they want to be, not who you want them to be. As for the subjugation of women, I happened to be at the so called "Seeming to be cool" bare breast, making out session. The females engaging in the "lude" act took it upon themselves to put on a show. They weren't whipped and chained up until they agreed to perform. Honestly, I do not recall a band member being in the room when this happened, I could be wrong though. I do recall about 6 or 7 females watching the act as well. Either way, tits or no tits, ass grabbing or no ass grabbing, they are cool in more ways than you are implying they are "trying" to be and more than you may ever know. You have no idea what these guys are like, don't judge them by a clip in a video or by an obviously racy Internet Sex Radio Interview. Ok, I am finsihed. It's all about the music, so listen up and enjoy, you will be happier with the band on January 24th, trust me!.

I don't think she was trying to change the band or put them down for being who they are howard. I think she's just trying to make a point in general about looking past the whole "we're rock stars, we do that sort of thing" argument when it comes to women and sex. Granted, it was a sex show, but there is a whole lot of elements in that sex show in music videos and other areas of entertainment now, and I think she's just trying to say all of that really isn't necessary to be a good rock band, generally. But the guys are cool, marty is cool, it's about the music. It's all good LOL

Hey Howard, mrsscreamer said exactly what I meant in my post. I wasn't saying the band should change. I'm sure they are the coolest bunch of guys ever. They make incredible music. I'm also sure they aren't chaining women up to make out. I could tell that these girls were having fun and I really don't care who was in the room or not and who was watching or not.
I just want it to be about the music too. And I can't wait for my cd to come on the 24th.

I understand why many of you are afraid to post over at LH.com. But seriously, don't be. Yes, there are a few people that try and intimidate others if they don't agree with them, or god forbid, express a concern or criticism of the band. I posted there yesterday in the same thread that Dino did, in defense of the original poster. I didn't comment on what she said - I agreed with some of her sentiments, but definitely not all - but I thought it was crappy the way that many posters just ganged up on her and told her to shut up. Plus, I can't stand that whole "I'm a better fan than you are, because I post HERE" bull.
I got a lot of PMs from posters here thanking me for sticking up for us over there. But the whole thing is ridiculous. We are fans of the Lovehammers. We are spreading the love. We are buying the CDs. And we are going to the concerts. We have fun here and have made friends and there is nothing to apologize for.
Cindy and Amy have created a fantastic site here. If I need information about the LHs, I come here. It is organized, timely, and unbiased. Yes, we have our squeee (not that I partake in it, ahem) but SO DO THEY. Have you seen their threads on the individual band members?
Please don't let a few bullies keep you from posting where you want. These are messageboards. And both support the Lovehammers. I'm just rambling now, sorry.

Hi there. Have been lurking for months and this is the first time I've posted. This whole Fearless Radio thing has been fascinating to observe. I listened to the interview on Tuesday night and stayed up late reading the comments on this board. The whole LH phenomenon has kind of eaten my brain. I am truly excited for them -- as though they were my own kin.
I'm torn in my reaction to the radio interview. I'm 50-years old, of that generation, pre-AIDS, that could give most young people these days a tutorial on bad girl/bad boy behavior--Sex, drugs, rock and roll?--well, yeah! We kind of wrote the book on that score, I think. These days, I have a husband -- well, I've had two -- and a son. I know a fair amount about the realities involved in living with men and boys. I think men are swell. My principal gripe when it comes to pornography is that it's basically dull stuff and an hour of it on the radio is nothing short of deadly. (Watching Marty launchy into his encore of Wish You Were Here with the eyeliner and lavendar eyeshadow and that tortured gaze is what I consider super sexy stuff. That boy just exudes sex appeal and because he's so elegant, he's that much sexier--The guy is a pro from head to toe!)
That being said, I thought the LoveBytes interview was not the brightest move and it had less to do with the generally boring nature of the conversation than it did with the fact, in my mind at least, that these guys are professional musicians. Why opt to waste their time on what sounded like an amateurish venture at the very moment they are about to be launched, we hope, into the stratosphere? And without Marty there on top of all that. It made the remaining three look, well, kind of silly and sort of clueless and I'm sure they are not. The interview was, as I think RockChick said, LAME. And embarassing for the three of them. I love them ... I wish them every success. For me, it's a strange combo of wanting to take them out (or keep them in!) and wanting to mother them a bit too. Come here, little Dino -- Don't do this silly thing. It's not going to serve you well. If you get invited to talk about sex and porn, do it on Howard Stern. Howard knows what he's doing and the payoff, in terms of publicity, is worth the potential risk.
I'm waiting breathlessly for the arrival of the Live/Raw DVD -- I gather the HammerHouse may become a tourist attraction any day now!

Lesley, I can't find Dino's message at LH.com Can you explain where it is over there? Sorry, gingerpyle, I didn't see your message until now. I was actually quoting Dino's post in my post on page 19 of this thread. Everything between the two dotted lines within my post was what Dino said. penny74, I agree. There are a couple of aggressive posters on the LH board, but most people there aren't. Let's not let just a couple of people at either board define the personality of the whole board. I post here and there and I like both. We're all ultimately here to support the same band. washington, the HammerHouse was demolished a few years ago, so no tourist attraction there. Hehe.

I wonder if Epic had advised them to do that interview. It seems that the record company should be doing a better job of promotion in the weeks leading up to the CD release to get the band some higher profile, music-oriented publicity. I’m a little worried that they’re not getting enough backing from their record company.
