The HoJo's is the cheapest hotel in that neighborhood, and it is located on a major street, right near the subway, which makes transportation and navigation by foot, train, or cab really easy. For anyone who is planning on staying there, I walked over there last night and here are the details: the building is small, about four stories, can't tell if it is an old building that has been fully renovated or a new one that took on the trappings of the architecture of the neighborhood. It actually is on the border of four historic neighborhoods: Greenwich Village, SoHo, NoHo, and the Lower East Side. The LES is undergoing major changes right now; ten years ago, I would have hesitated to tell anyone to stay there but that isn't true anymore. You will be down the street from Katz's Deli (where they shot the famous "faking it" scene in When Harry Met Sally), across the street from 1st and 1st (where Kramer got freaked out on Seinfeld), and four blocks from CBGB's! The neighborhood is NOT charming or quaint, but it's hip and interesting.

Makes me wish I was coming in sooner....arriving early afternoon on the 14th....won't have alot of extra time...and leaving the next day in the morning...will definitely try to check out Katz's Deli though... ;D

I am trying to muster up enough courage to make this show! So are most people staying at Ho-Jo's? As it is now, I will be alone.... (aka Stephd) Joining others in saying...you will definitely NOT BE ALONE once you hook up with fellow fans.... So...are you coming?? I hope so!!! ;D

I could be wrong but the reviews here for the headline Viper show was only 45 minutes. NYC fans are going to go nuts if they only play a short set.

Hi guys...I was surfing around the CBGB site for info last night and it looks like this is the complete lineup: Pryde Bona Roba Lovehammers Glad to know there aren't a ton of opening acts, although it will be cool to see Neal's band. Pryde appears to be verryyyy young but have already played CBGB and are apparently an MTV fave, which could be good or bad Also, I emailed CBGB to find out when doors open so we can plan accordingly!

The CBGB performance finally sold out....Is the band Pryde a punk band? (at least punk rockers favor the color black, just need to add some red). I hope I do not have to fight off fierce-looking youngsters to keep my place up front..oh wait, I will have Scott/Rockbeast next to me to keep guard!!! Can't wait, 10 days and counting...One more thing: GO STEELERS, GO STEELERS, GO STEELERS!!!

I live in Seattle Washington and have been waiting 30 years for Seattle to go to and win a superbowl. The lame and totally violent and mean Steelers have had their day(S) in Football and so let the slaughter begin tomorrow. Even though the Steelers are favored by three points, I bet 1,000 on the Hawks....... GO HAWKS, GO HAWKS, GO HAWKS!!!! Sorry and I was just kidding about not guarding you, but found it funny how you started off by saying I would be guarding you and end up "rooting" for the rival team. LOL

Rockbeast, thanks for the Bona Roba tip! They sound exactly the way you described them. I just checked and they are also available on itunes; you can download one song at a time. I like cd baby though, so I may order it from them.
This show is going to kick serious butt.

Hey Rockbeast, I totally forgot that you live in Seattle...well let's not let a Super Bowl battle come between us Seattle/Pittsburgh Lovehammer fans (as Yak offers rockbeast a toke off her peace pipe cuz she knows he will protect her front row spot no matter what happens Sunday in Detroit). May the best team win! And if the Seahawks lose, don't be asking me for your money back!!! LOL BTW, thanks for the tip about Bona Roda (thanks for your tip too Wendyc122) I shall have to go and give them a listen....

Hi myohmy,
I took the whole week off: seeing LH on Sunday night, too, then Phil Lesh on Wednesday, and then off to Mohegan Sun on Thursday. But the CBGB's show is the one I am totally focused on. I won't get much sleep the night before, or probably that night either. Who knows? We may all go out for a post-show drink. I know I'm going to be very wired up afterward.

Hey Wendy and myohmy, I think I read on the CBGB website that there is a separate bar area at that club. Do you think the Lovehammers will be hanging out there after (or before) the concert? They have a next night concert in Reading PA, but I am not sure how quickly they will have to board their bus to leave town. Marty used to live in NYC so I was wondering if he might hang out with old friends from the city instead of his fans...No matter what, I agree with Wendy in that I will be too wired (actually before, during and after they perform) to go back to HoJo and sleep...an after-party to squee together sounds like a grand idea!!!!!!! Besides, I will probably need someone to wipe the drool off my face because I will be in a trance if Marty "hypnotizes" me with his baby-blues!!!!!

I also posted this on the LH board, but I'll post it here too... If anyone will be arriving via LGA at around 3pm, PM me if you want to split a taxi to the Lower East Side. Thanks ;D Cannot believe it's just 8 days from now

Hey rockbeast,
I am going to assume we are Lovehammers friends (even tho we have not met yet, I feel like I know you) regardless of the outcome of the SuperBowl....And I will be proud to stand BESIDE you in the front row at the CBGB Club. If anyone gives you trouble, I am going to say: "He's with me, so lay off the big guy!!!!!" I am short, but I am mighty when the situation calls for it!!!! Can't wait to see the band and meet all my new Lovehammers-loving friends!!!!! See you on the 13th & 14th!!!!!!!!
