Luxie I would just like to say of all the fan pictures I have seen with Marty if I could be in any one of them I would choose yours. I am so happy for you. I am happy you had that moment with Marty and even happier you have a picture to look at and remember. It is so sweet of you to share your story and your picture.  Sharon |

julianah- thanks =) i think i was just really self conscious about how i looked after i saw how it came out (cause i look so weird) so i was a bit more sensitive about the comments. silly me, lol cindy- yup, you can use the pic if you like. i plan on posting most of the decent shots (and any videos) probably on this thread at some point within the next week, and you can use all those too if you like! ps thanks for the warm welcome!  |

Luxie, Cherish that picture forever. You were one of only a few who got to meet any of the band members after the show. Congratulations for getting that rare gift!!! i think you look a bit nervous, but geez, you are pressed up against a bare-chested Golden Boy...that would make All of us nervous!!! You just look much cuter than the rest of us would look in the same situaton! In a way, jealousy is a mutant form of a compliment, I'm sure no one intended to hurt your feelings.
You can add me to the list of envious women who did not get a chance to get an autograph or a picture with Marty, Bobby, Dino or Billy after their outstanding CBGB performance (they did 17 or 18 songs I think)...I was one of the many fans who was told to clear the hallway after we had been standing patiently in line to meet Marty and the boys. I think I was 3rd in line. I had a homemade knitted scarf, bright red, to give to Marty (he makes mention of it in his latest diary entry) and a Valentines Day card for the band. The dude blocking the entrance to the room told me to give it to him and he would pass it on to Marty. I told him that I had worked hard on the scarf (a tiny lie) and needed to give it to him myself. I looked all doe-eyed and sad, and when I added that I would NOT ask for an autograph or picture of any of the guys, he said "ok, wait a second...". No sooner did he say that when Marty, Bob, Dino and lastly, Billy, came flying out of the room, fully dressed with coats buttoned up, heading to escape out the back door. "Hey", I said to the guy, "what about my scarf?"...he answered, "Well don't stand there, go after Marty and try to give it to him". I raced down the narrow hall and fortunately for me Marty was being stopped for a picture...Afraid he would bolt as soon as the flash went off, I blocked the shot by standing in front of Marty.
...Now ladies that have met Marty, you know what I mean when I say that his "beauty" briefly stunned me. I am 5'2" so I had to look up quite a bit to see his pretty face. The look on his face was not rehearsed smiley, or sexy, or impish, or serious. I could tell he was extremely tired, but for that reason his face was calm, relaxed, I guess I would call it a "natural" state...Here is my point: it was pure sweetness, kind, gentle and endearing. I handed him the scarf and said, "I made this for you." He took it, cocked his head slightly to the side, and with the MOST child-like, innocent (for lack of a better word) look on his face, he said "Thank you". Those glorious blue eyes focused on me. And it is true that when he looks at you, his focus on you is like a powerful tracking beam, locking on to your very soul...I felt like Supergirl who had just been hit with a massive ray of kryptonite!!!! The girl whose picture I was blocking (and I truly am sorry for interupting you, but I knew YOU would eventually get your picture, but I knew my speaking to Marty was only possible because you had stopped him from leaving out the back door) snapped me out of my debilitating trance. My 5 seconds with Marty was almost over...so I looked up at him, lifted my hand to his soft, pale face, and did a slow, gentle stroke from the top of his beautiful cheekbone to the tip of his chin with the back side of my fingers (I did not want to accidently scratch him with my fingernails) and said, "No, thank YOU, Marty, for giving with all your heart and soul"...I stepped away so the girl could finally get her picture taken. Again, whoever you are, thanks for not yelling at me to get the F out of the way, and thanks for letting me have MY Marty moment.
I do not have much to add to Wendyc122 and Myohmy and others who have posted about the Avery Fisher Hall and CBGB performances. All that they say is how I feel. I am back home in Pittsburgh and still floating on my Lovehammers high! I can add just my personal experience. It is well known that when Marty sings he does his best to make eye contact with as many fans as possible. I was lucky to get 2 such honors...The first while singing the line from "Throw My Head" which goes "...hello Superstar--you're my friend" Marty pointed his finger directly at me as he sang "you're my friend" just as I was pointing back at him and singing the same words to him!!! It was way cool, made my night....the 2nd time was another momentary direct stare from Marty during the song "Real Man" or at least that is what my memory THINKS it was....After the first eye contact, my brain went into one of those MC "hammered" trances that causes severe memory loss..LOL.. (thanks myohmy/valencia for remembering for both of us...and starting a new friendship with you and Wendy and the others means a lot to me).
I never got a hug from Marty or the boys---apologies to: heartotexas, henry, rockfan, keysunset, Isa, slyfox, and anyone else for my breaking a promise to get a hug for you. Now I have to ask you to get one for me...I am sad I did not get to even say hello to Bobby, Dino or Billy. But getting to see them perform at full blast, up-close on a small stage, in a tiny club definitely makes up for what I did not get....And meeting MC.org fans from this board and some from the sisterhood was so much fun!!!!! Now I have a face to envision when I send or read a posting.
It's late so I am off to bed to dream about Marty all sweaty and beautiful...I have to load my photos from last night into this computer to see if any are worth posting here...I think I have few that are in focus....
Oh one more thing...I put 2 Lovehammers bumper stickers on the CBGB wall behind where I was standing and wrote with a sharpie "LOVEHAMMERS ROCK" (thanks rockbeast for giving me the bumper stickers)...

Hey everyone. I got home a couple hours ago from NY and I haven't gone to sleep yet. lol! Why you ask.....(or maybe you didn't, lol) I decided to pic all my pics on my website. Ok, keep in mind that I have not edited any of the pics yet, cause I'm that tired. lol! So, there might my hand and heads in some of the shots and some red-eyes. I went through all of the pics I took and picked out the most decent shots. I tried to get more than just Marty, but his came out the best because he was right there. There are also a bunch oh video clips that I took with my camera, so, those aren't too clear either but you can see them rockin' their hearts out. Thanks for the photos at your website. I LOVE Marty that fer sure, but I enjoyed seeing photos of Billy without something on his head! Thanks for posting. Wish I could have been there.

Luxie - Did your boyfriend take your picture w/ Marty? If that had been me in your shoes, at that moment I would have been so torn as to whether or not maul Marty and risk getting the boyfriend jealous. What a nice boyfriend and what a lucky guy he is 'cause Girl - you're Hot!!  Yakketyyak - I just love your post. You are always so sweet on your posts. Can you adopt me and be my new big sister? I am so so so jealous that I wasn't there and able to hear them do "Let's get Wasted". I can only imagine how great that sounded. I actually asked Dino at the Chicago Joe's show why they never played that. So, glad to hear that they finally did. Hopefully when they come back home I can hear it live myself. Thanks!

Rubi, glad you had a safe flight back to California. I just went and looked at your pictures/videoclips---THEY ARE AWESOME!!! They stimulated my brain and many many memories of our night at the CBGB Club came flooding into my head!!! Thank you for taking the pictures and hanging out with me (sorry I dragged you all thru those yucky slushy streets before letting you eat). I make several trips every year back home to Calif to see my mom and family so I hope you and I can meet up again. You are sweet and kind and l love your smile. Thanks again for sharing your videoclips and photos....Oh yeah, give me a few days to get that "package" ready that I said I would send you ok?

Yak, it's alright about the hug. The stroke on the cheek makes up for that. I felt like I was right there in the moment with you! Now if the opportunity arises for me, I don't know if I could hug, touch, stroke, stand or anything next to Marty. But I will try. Yak, thank you so much for sharing your wonderful experience and all the details! I am so glad you got your moment with Marty! You have that wonderful memory to always remember!
