I still support Marty because he is the reason why I discovered LH to start with. Of course I still support LH too. I will continue to follow all of the LH guys in whatever they persue. As a fan, I can't expect Marty to go on being in a place he's not happy with just to make ME happy. IMO that's really not fair. At the end of the day, he needs to do what makes HIM happy. If that means leaving a band he's been with for 1/2 his life for another band, then so be it. I will follow because I feel that if he's truly happy in what he's doing, the music will reflect that. And if this turns out to be a gigantic mistake on his part, then I can take comfort in the fact that I was there for him cheering him on - through good and bad times. That's what a fan does.

I support Marty Casey because I can and because I want to. Great post!! Direct, honest..and to the point!! Thank you for both your comment and for your eloquent way of elaborating on what I was thinking without even knowing. I also support Marty Casey because now I will never have to hear "my eyes, my eyes, my eyes, my eyes, etc" again. (I hope )

I support Marty because he is doing something that he feels he needs to do pure and simple. He easily could have had a very successful solo career after RS:INXS, but he showed great loyalty to his friends in the Lovehammers. As much as I will miss seeing him perform with LH, I will always support a person who is true to himself and not afraid to take risks while pursuing his dream. All the best, Marty.

I support Marty Casey because........... ...........his performances are addicting and breathtaking... ..............the other guys don't "need" him to stay with them out of loyalty or any other other stagnating emotion--it's insulting to all of them... (which may be the wrong choice of words, but hopefully you all get my point) I've been wondering why I haven't been mourning the loss of the LH more. I know I will, because I have SO enjoyed those shows. But I think I've figured it out. I've just been so angry with everyone who's been so judgmental and critical and who act like Marty has committed the moral crime of the century!! So I think I've just been feeling defensive for Marty, and haven't had time to concentrate on thinking about missing the band. But I have to ask--would the reaction be as violent if it had been one of the other guys? Seriously, although there would mourning, etc., if one of them got a really great offer with another band, would there be all of the slander about them "deserting" the LH? Just wondering.......

I think anyone who is at MartyCasey.com is supportive for the most part. It is HIS namesake anyway, right? I have been thinking alot (and this is my armchair psychologist opinion) that the sooner we all let this topic of the split or change or whatever you call it,end, the better it will be for the guys. I think when a person is mad or hurt or feeling betrayed or any of those painful feelings it can be easy to maybe be muddied and lose objectivity. I bet when the dust settles and the shock wears off they will come to terms with their feelings and sit down and hash it out . I wish we as the fans had never been told any of the details . Really when you think about it, it's none of our business. It would have been so cool if they all kept it to themselves. Instead it got hashed out to DEATH on boards and WW3 almost started over it. And people I think are cool are not really talking to me much because I want Marty to succeed. Ouch?! I want them all to succeed. It would be just so nice if this was all done being talked about and we could all be chums again I do chose a side, I chose the side of Peace and Prosperity and Love for them all. In all areas of their lives. If any of you are hurt by my happiness for Marty , I am sorry. I don't mean to be hurtful or insensitive. I just want to see them all be the best they can be and only they can decide that for themselves. Godspeed to them all. Jill

I support Marty Casey because............
He needs to grow..........
That is probably the best thing for everyone, including the fans. Doesn't mean we all can't come back home again.
I'm in Chicago right now for a conference tomorrow, and while I was driving up here I was listening to a lot of different music, including LH and the Beatles, and thinking about all of this stuff. Bands breaking up is always VERY shocking and even painful, BUT also almost always gives rise to another level of creativity and enjoyment (for the fans).
The person I got to thinking about specifically--and unfortunately for me, didn't have a CD to play--(and Oh boy, I'll really date myself here, but then y'all know I'm old anyway!) is Paul Simon. Talk about sounds from my adolescence!! Sounds of Silence, Bridge Over Troubled Water, The Boxer.......... Certainly, no one could perform together like Simon and Garfunkel. And truly, those performances DO live on, HOWEVER, Paul Simon has continued to write music for 40+ years.......always different, with different people. And after a VERY bitter break-up with Art G., they do occasionally get together and sing. But I'm just saying.....what if, out of "loyalty", he never would have left Art? What music would we not have heard? Graceland, The Rhythm of the Saints?
That's just who I got thinking about, but there are SO many, including as I listened to the Beatles today, John Lennon and Paul McCartney solo, as well as George Harrison.
Sorry for the memory lane trip............ I just wish them ALL well and hope this stirs the creative juices!!

Those are very good points, Jill and Linda! Bands break up, change personnel, etc, all the time. It really is a rarity for a band to be together as long as LH have been. I don't think any of them signed a life contract for LH, though.
We were talking about this at home, and if you have ever watched Apollo 13 (the movie), there's a scene where the teenage daughter is throwing a fit, screaming abuse about Paul McCartney, for having "broken up the Beatles". I think if anyone searches the internet for accounts of fan reaction at that time, they will find similar reactions to what's been directed at Marty for his decision.
Another thing we talked about was that according to interviews with Lovehammers, they say they "stole" Billy from another band. He played a gig with them, and they never let him go back to the other band. (Although in any relationship, not just in bands, you can't "steal" someone who doesn't want to be "stolen".) Then some time after Billy joined LH, they fired Ben Kelly. So these things happen in bands, and in any other workplace. Corporate headhunters go looking for top performers, and make them attractive offers on behalf of another company, to lure them away from their current jobs. I don't think anyone has to feel like it's a matter of someone incurring 'bad karma' because they wanted something different for their life. This is all just a part of life.
Now many new possibilities have arisen for all the guys, and I hope lots of new creativity comes from it all.

I support Marty because he is one of those rare talents that come along very seldom. He sings, performs and writes music. He is his own m an and is living his dream. Ever since I saw him on Rock Star, he has been my fantasy love. I hope and pray that the world will soon know the name MARTY CASEY. Breathless , and that is what he leaves me.
