today on the radio they announced who has won Rockstar Supernova. I wish they would have given a warning so that i could have turned it off. because i didnt want to find out who won ahead of time Wildroses--There's no way anyone could announce that yet--the episode hasn't even taped yet. It tapes tomorrow morning. People could speculate but I don't think anyone actually knows yet. |

Okay, there are a few points to make about this episode. First, WTH was Paula Abdul doing there --in a bad sequinned dress no less? That was weird and really unnecessary, for her, AI and RS.  Second, hurrah for Ryan, but why on earth would he sing his song in exactly the same way -- i.e. oversinging til he loses his voice. He's gotta control that. Third, I take back what I said about Dilana doing Roxanne --I thought it was great, but her original is really bad. And her doing a Toby during the perfomance of it just showed the difference in how he connects with fans and how she does not. Lukas -- I really really really wanted to love Fix You, but I thought he missed an opportunity. Still,, I think his set was best over all. I have become a Lukas fan over the summer. Toby sounded good as usual but I also thought he lost it during the Radiohead song. Not his best by far. hope he either wins it or comes second, tho. Magni --Hush was good, and I loved him and Rafael playing each other's guitars, but he seems to phone it in so much and that original is lame. Best bits were really everyone playing with each other -- Magni playing for Toby and having Evs written on his head, the boys backing up Dilana, etc. Not nearly as good as last year's finale performance episode. Done snarking now. |

Mmmm my doubly distinguished colleague from Hong Kong and I seem to see eye to eye on a lot of things..
I wasn't blown away by any one set. Toby came the closest though I did kind of enjoy Lukas' opening to the Coldplay song and liked his original a bit better this time. I liked Roxanne, but thought she missed a chance and oversang it. I loved the guys backing her up. I loved Magni backing up Toby.. I tell ya.. A Toby/Magni band would probably go farther than SN will.

oh man, i really cant' stand dilana! she is so freaking insincere, and they were all over her with compliments...what's up with THAT?!?
seems like poor magni may be going home...he's the only one they dissed. poor guy. should be dilana.
anyway....GO TOBY!!!!!! EVS!!!!!!

This may have been Lukas' best performance yet.  Although, I really liked Toby too. And I've thought Toby was the winner for weeks..... Now I think it's a toss-up between the two. Magni will be the first to go. Followed by Dilana.  |

Wow what a bummer tonight was. I wanted something Smashing and didn't get it. I am from another planet I guess cause Lukas was awful...He was buzzed off his booty and his singing suffered for it. When he was singing Coldplay by the pool he sounded awesome but when he gets on the stage he gets possessed by an old Irish man singing in a pub somewhere....  Toby rocked it as usual but also better on the webisode Magni to me has the best voice and does good for not being an American and not used to us. Tommy was way hard on him. Tommy's mind is made up its obvious. I thought Dilana was back to her old self confidence wise but I fear her mental state and touring with them?! I think Lukas will get it but IMO doesn't deserve it. He doesn't come anywhere near Marty...THinking back Marty didn't do alot of interaction with the audience either( no touching or diving hand shaking etc. who cares though? he had and has the IT factor and it makes him more mysterious to me). I wanted so badly to like Lukas but he just doesn't do it for me. Sorry. I hope that if there is a season 3 that it wont be so hard to decide the winner. for me I want Toby or Magni now... I agree w/Jill about Lukas--Hubby and I don't get why they were so excited. We fast forwarded his original b/c it sounded so bad--We don't get it.
I love Toby and I thought Dilana was back to her old self and sounded great on Roxane--I don't like her original--If you have to explain it that much--then it shouldn't be done.
I hope Toby will win--if not Dilana!!

Toby: He lost me during his Radiohead song. I thought he was boring and routine, though he won me back during his original. Barely. I thought him playing with Magni was cute, but the guitar part-so cheesy.
Lukas: Liked Coldplay, loved his original, though I thought it could have been better. I thought his voice was very gentle compared to other nights. Not my favorite Lukas, but not awful, either.
Dilana-I liked Roxanne, I thought the arrangement worked, and the boys singing with her was just icing. I still don't like her original, though.
Magni-best of the night, in my opinion. The others didn't do both songs as well as they could have, and both of Magni's were good.
Why was Paula there? Creepy...way to take the focus off Lukas, Dave. That was cheesy.
MTA: Ryan...boring. Sorry, but he seems like a loose cannon himself. He tries to pull off intensity and comes off a little nuts, in my opinion.

IMO I loved Lukas.... Okay for ME, he can do no wrong. Overall such a great entertainer. My sweetie really loved his set tonight, even replayed it after the show. I preferred Head Spin not done acoustically. I totally dig where that song is coming from for him  Toby... always easy on the eyes  I thought his set was weak last night. I think there's alot of stress going into the finals. I think he's gonna do great regardless!! Magni.. less than stellar. I love his personality, he has an awesome voice... just wish he had more oooomph in his performances. Dilana.... I personally didn't like Roxanne, but will give her credit as the original was much better than last week. I am just so over her. She's too transparent Kudos to her backup singers though  |

I fully agree with on all counts chk, the review of the show and...Marty is hot!
Anyway...I really hope Toby wins, not just because he's an Aussie (I NEVER voted for MiG) but 'cause I think he's is fun...and such a typical Aussie guy!

Good show last night! Now all we can do is sit back and see what the band wants to do.
Funny, I watched all the shows this year, and followed a lot of the news articles and checked out some of the various boards....and I was able to stay non-obsessed (unlike last year!)
I do have my favorite and want him to win badly (thank you to every one who found it in their heart to vote for my boy Lukas last night)..... but I managed to keep it all in perspective this year and enjoy it for the entertainment value and not let it take over my life. WOOHOO!
I'm hoping it is my little Pepe Le Pew !!
(modfied because I just came back and saw I spelled Pepe's name wrong!)

I've tried to like him -- and I think he is a nice person -- but I just don't think he sounds good. The acoustic version of his original was painful to listen to. Well, I guess that's what makes the world go 'round. Everybody had their own taste when it comes to music. I really want Toby to win, but I'd be happy with Magni or even Dilana in that order. I have tickets, so whoever wins, I'll be seeing them. I really want to see the House band with the cast offs -- one being Storm, who was never right for SN, but kicks serious rock butt. |

I didn't vote last night. I have no clue who should win and I figured it's all in Sn's hand's now any way.
Toby: I enjoyed both of his performances, yet I also thought he sounded better doing that song on the webisode. In my hubby's opinion, Toby is too good for Sn. I think it would be a good short term exposure for him or anyone one who wins 'cause I don't see them lasting very long.
Lukas: I liked his Cold Play song but really didn't like this version of his original. He smiled alot more which made him look so much cuter.
Dilana: I so wanted to hate this performance of Roxanne, but I must say I enjoyed it and her back-up was hot and sounded great. Her original isn't so great IMO.
Magni: I loved when he played for Toby. He seems to be more himself when he's not the one performing. He's so cute when he smiles and goofs around. I did not understand why Tommy seemed to dislike his original so much. It wasn't any worse than Dilana's or Lukas' and let me tell you, I don't remember any lyric to any of the SuperNova songs they played so far. I'm sure it must be hard for him to write in English. He is definitely a very well accomplished musician.
Ryan: Good for Ryan. I didn't think that was his best performance of that song and would have preferred him doing something on the piano. Good move trying to get a CD out ASAP before his forget and move on.

This HAS been fun just to enjoy the performances and to try to figure out just what direction Supernova wants to go. The obvious letdown has been that none of the contestants has the "Marty" magic from last year.
Oh yes, FlyintoOblivion, love your Bowie pic!! Marty is my current obsession, but Bowie is my Rock god.

I really liked Magni's Hush, his original was good too but I agree not as catchy as the other 3 rockers but that my not be a bad thing. Toby was fun! His HO Ho Ho song is growing on me and I'm not sure I like that. The Radiohead song was good. I really liked him with Magin! I think they should go out and conquer the world together. I'd buy a ticket to that. Lukas was good in his odd little way. I'm convinced SN will pick him. Which would be fine as I would never go see them in concert regardless of who they have fronting them. They will be here in January.  Dilana was better this week, Roxanne was good. I still don't get how her original is "empowering" But she does so good on her. If SN picks her I think they will be in for some major drama. Better to pass on the nut job boys. |
