Compliments of Net Flicks the last movie I saw was An Inconvenient Truth. I enjoyed it, but now am overly aware of the fact that our society is causing global warming at an increasing rate. No more glaciers, melting ice, raised ocean levels and water temps. !!!! Fear................ Maybe I should have rented a romantic comedy instead.

Rent. i absolutely loved it too just kind of wish that i could have gotten to see the stage musical when it came here YOU HAVE GOT TO SEE THE STAGE SHOW THE NEXT CHANCE YOU GET! *ahem, sorry...die-hard RENThead here * I saw the live show several years ago in Little Rock (have sadly only seen it once live due to the fact I live in a rural area and often don't have the time or money to drive hours away to catch it). There were things about the movie that I loved and there were things about it that made me very angry - most notably the cutting of Goodbye Love B from the finished product. I don't buy Columbus' argument that it would ruin the emotional impact of the ending scenes. I felt that was needed - because that's where Roger & Mark's fight occurs before he leaves town. At least they gave it to us in the extras on the DVD. I felt "One Song Glory" would have been more effective without the flashbacks showing April - as it is in the stage show. It would have given Adam Pascal more of an opportunity to connect the audience fully with Roger early on. Plus a lot of the in-jokes with street people are completely gone...you have to see it live. It will knock your socks off. I think they still sell the first few rows for $20 a few hours before show; just like they do in NY. I was eight rows back. I advise that - because there's a lot to take in at any given moment... Even with its issues, the movie still makes me cry... I went to a matinee to see it when it came out and I was the only one there...so the tears flowed freely. "I think it's gonna be a HAPPY NEW YEAR...."Peace.

Me too...which it always makes me cry. The beauty of the stage show is that Roger & Mimi are onstage playing a sort of cat and mouse during "Without You" while Collins is tending to Angel as he dies...It almost makes me cry just thinking about it.

Thank you for that!!! I've seen it too and I just couldn't get into it. I remember the television series (wow, I'm old...) and that had better action and the stories flowed. This was just a big action film, without the heart.

I've been wanting to see Miami Vice but haven't gotten a chance to. I've gotten mixed reviews from my friends and family so I'm not sure whether to rent it or not! Last movie I rented(and watched) was Troy, I think. I liked it...especially the parts with my fav actor, Sean Bean.

The main character, a lady vicar, has a photo of Sean Bean next to her photo of Jesus. Originally it was a pic of Mel Gibson, but in series three - his photo was replaced with a pic of Bean. "That's Jesus... " Geraldine (the vicar) explains to Alice and Hugo's baby, "and there, more importantly, is Sean Bean. He's very sexy...." Bean even appeared in an episode where Geraldine was supposed to be getting married - she had a nightmare version of the wedding and as she was asked if she took her fiancee...Bean bursts into the church and asks her to run away with him!!!! "Noooooo! Don't do it, Geraldine! It's me you love, not him! Come on, Lass!" After which she wakes up immediately - albeit looking quite rumpled!

What makes it even better is that the guy she's marrying is someone she spars with throughout the entire series...I think that's the last eppie of the regular series...and she loves candy...so what else decorates her bridal headpiece in the dream but little candies wrapped in foil! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D When I searched for that pic I found it seems they did a Dibley Christmas special THIS YEAR - OH HOW I WANT TO SEE IT - because it intimated that Gerry would FINALLY get married to someone...*sigh*. I don't get the BBC...not even BBC America...so I can just hope that PBS will eventually acquire the rights to show it or that it will be put on DVD so I can get my grubby paws on a copy. There's several episodes of that series that are just priceless. After the town's vicar dies and she comes as the new vicar - well of course everyone is expecting an old man...What is it she says?....*googles for quote*....ahh, here's the exchange with David Horton (who she's marrying in the eppie with Bean by the way - but she calls off the engagement after the dream) [Geraldine has just arrived in town as the new vicar] Reverend Geraldine Granger: You were expecting a bloke... beard, bible, bad breath? David Horton: Yes, that sort of thing. Reverend Geraldine Granger: Yeah. And instead, you got a babe with a bob cut and a magnificent bosom. David Horton: So I see. Dawn French plays Gerry if you've ever heard of her...She's a hoot. There's an episode where they put on a talent show as some sort of fundraiser and one of the old geezers does the FULL MONTY routine at the end. In another Alice, the dim-wit, says her cousin Reginald Dwight can play a fundraiser and they all know Reginald Dwight is Elton John's real name - so they get excited and prepare for him...well, it's not him. I think Kylie Minogue is in that episode though. There were a lot of guest stars from time to time, which was amazing because I think the show only ran three years. Alice & Hugo's baby, the one Gerry is holding in the picture in the last post, is born as Alice is playing Mary in the live nativity...*hehe* I have the whole series on DVD. It's great. I love my Brit-coms: Vicar, Keeping Up Appearances, and Are You Being Served? are my favorites.

Our PBS channels (WKNO10-Memphis and AETN, which is our Chanel 9, out of Conway) here show them on Saturday nights starting around 8 p.m.. However, I don't think Dibley is in the rotation right now. Netflix has The Vicar of Dibley so you could rent them if you have that service. They have a 10th anniversary one that I've never seen! I think I'm going to have to sign up so I can see it...The description reads: "Alice spots a supermodel in her undies in the vicarage. It isn't long before the entire village believes that Gerry is one of the first lesbian vicars in England. In "Happy New Year," the villagers have plans to give Gerry a birthday present she'll never forget: a blind date."In one of the regular episodes, Gerry hosted a live radio show in the vicarage...one of the male characters came out of the closet during his shift on the program (I think that eppie is "Dibley Live" in Series 2) - SO if he's in that one - OMG... ;D ;D ;D ;D The wedding eppie is on the Series 3 disc, which is when Bean's picture replaced Gibson's in the next to the last episode..."Spring". The final episode of the series was "Summer". But they keep doing these specials it seems every so many years... Here's the cover for Series 3 - the one with the wedding: It looks like dear old Netflix has Keeping Up Appearances and Are You Being Served? as well...I think they just got a new member! Peace.

Thanks, Cheza! I think I might just have to sign up for Netflix...I've been meaning to do so anyway. Once I do, I'll have to rent those!

I've been meaning to sign up for some time, but I feel a bit guilty as one of my old h.s. pals runs the local video store...but I can never get them back in time...so this would be in the best interest of my pocketbook. BTW, I must stress ladies that Britcoms can be more than a bit naughty at times...just watched the Series 3: Dibley DVD ;D ;D ;D ;D... "Save me Sean! Save me!" ;D ;D ;D ;D...and they are NOT MEANT FOR LITTLE EYES AND EARS. So watch judiciously. Some of the jokes can be pretty crude at times. For example in AYBS: Mrs. Slocombe almost always has a line about her cat...but she doesn't call it a cat...not even a kitty...she calls it the p term...a la in boots with the y...so you end up with lines like, "Mr. Humphries, get your hand of my p*****!!!!" Hilarious yes , but not for the kiddies .
