I have never seen that one Jet...That is a true story right? I think my hubby rented it. He enjoyed it, but told me it was a little on the "dark" side for me? Yes Star, its based on the book of the same name by Hunter S Thompson. It is quite dark but so funny too. Oh god...that is definately one of the best movies ever...the book is, of course better, but what can I say, love that movie. Oh, and mine is A Clockwork Orange. I should probably buy that one to save myself the odd looks, but I need a good Kubrik fix every so often.

Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas - Jet Have you read the book? I read it 30 years ago and was rolling on the floor - hysterical ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D My opinion - the book ("Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas") is so much better than the movie, it gives you incredible visual images!! Starcrossed I don't think Fear and Loathing is "dark" and I'm 60. There is a lot of language but.................... Last movie I rented "TransAmerica" The story is so interesting, starts out slow, establishing things, have patience - in the end it's worth it. Stars Felicity Huffman ("Desperate Housewives") she was nominated for an Oscar last year for movie, best actress, I think. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!

Feather - I haven't read it yet but just ordered it online...I'll let you knowwhat I think but I already know I'll love it.
Ayesa - I love A Clockwork Orange too. I just love movies that stray from the norm.
I watched Party Monster last night - bought it cause I love it so much and then watched my old time favourite Dogs In Space - starring Michael Hutchence. Has anyone else seen it?

I just re-watched The Highlander. I had forgotten how bad an actor Christopher Lambert can be. I mean honestly, it can't be that difficult to act antisocial and desolate... Just angst it.
The other movie that I recently rented is The Bourne Supremacy. I adore the Bourne series! Matt Damon does such a good job in the movies, and any movie featuring Franka Potente - even for the tiniest of screen times - can't be bad.
Luna, I saw Crank recently as well. I've never laughed so hard while watching an action flick!

Candy
A recent Aussie movie with Heath Ledger, Abby Cornish and Geoffery Rush. Based on a true story about addiction. Well worth watching if you can find it.

My kids always freak when I say..."Have you seen "10 Things I Hate About You"? Well, that's based on Shakespeare. It's The Taming of the Shrew. Have you seen "She's the Man"? That's based on Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. "

Cheza, the only movies I've seen based on Shakespeare are 10 Things I Hate About You and Rome & Juliet. I'll have to check out 'She's the Man.' I have Othello by my beside but haven't as yet got past the first few pages...too busy finishing the Belgariad!
maybe we need a book thread as well

I haven't watched "She's the Man" yet myself. I need to, because I usually teach Twelfth Night.

I agree completely with you, Luna. I really thought the movie looked good, but the story just didn't work for me. It is the same as 'The Covenant' for me. I thought that being from the makers of Underworld that it would be that great, but the story just didn't reach it's full potential...The actor's were cute. The special effects great. The fight scenes interesting. The story just fell flat. Curiosity got the best of me and I went ahead and rented The COvenant. Well I fell asleep at some part of the movie...LOL I woke up near the end at some fight in a barn...LOL I couldn't help think at some point the movie was, with the dialogue, sounding more like a bad porno...LOL

I saw Babel Friday night...and really really liked it. It has stayed with me throughout the weekend. Now this is not light movie entertainment...this is more a ponder film. But its good.

I have finally watched Brokeback Mountain.
I really did not expect it to be such a great movie. I hid under the blankets during the 'tent' scene...but then I really got into the story. I sat staring at the TV as the credits rolled and was in complete awe...this movie transcends gender...its about love and it is a beautiful and honest film. Huge props to Ang Lee for his portrayal of a moving love story.

I saw that movie a few years ago and yes great movie, I'm sure the book is great too. The baby scene while they were all drugged out has stuck with me and to me is the most disturbing scene I've seen and I just could not stop crying. I'm practically tearing up right now. I don't think I can handle seeing that movie again. Great movie but I can't see it again.

Just watched Dreamgirls today and it was pretty good. My nieces didn't like it but maybe when they get a little older they will like it. I think Jennifer Hudson did great since she hasn't acted before. I hardly ever buy movies and the only one I want to buy or two actually are The Prestige and The Illusionist. Oh my Lord those movies ROCKED!! I am in love with Edward Norton all over again. And Hugh Jackman.......
