Okay, I am copying what I wrote about this at the other board! OH MY LORD!!!!! I have been to this festival several times and it is AMAZING!!! There is great cheap camping in Memphis and you see SO many bands and roam around and meet every kind of person there is to meet and there is great food and the it's right on the beautiful river and even if you don't like any of the bands you can still lay on the grass and blow bubbles and eat funnel cakes and look at the moon and soak up the good vibes. WOW! I'm there dudes... It is about 10 hour drive from Charlotte area, but I have always had such a great time at the festival, it is worth going to even if LH weren't there!

The festival is called the Beale Street Music Festival - it's in Downtown Memphis at Tom Lee park, right on the river, they have a couple large stages, a couple smaller stages, and a blue's tent. Tickets are like $20 for a single day pass and $49.50 for a three day pass, which is so cheap for all the bands that are there. I don't know about hotels, we have always camped at the Meeman-Shelby State Park, which is also cheap, and the weather is great! This year it is May 5-7. The web page is Memphisinmay.org and then click on the Beale Street link from there. It is part of a month-long festival that happens every May that includes a BBQ festival and an international festival where they feature a different country every year - this year is Costa Rica. I don't work for them or anything, I just have been there many times and had so much fun, the idea that I could mix something so familiar with my newest love (Lovehammers) has got me really excited. Butterflynclouds, if you read this, you know we're going right!!!

Also, when I click on the link at the beginning of the thread it lists MCLH as part of the Friday show.. does that mean that they've now agreed to do the show?

I'll believe it when I see it on the main page here, or the LH page - but as soon as I do, we're there!

Well, crap! I guess that means the Lovehammers aren't going to the KY Derby with me.

I'll believe it when I see it on the main page here, or the LH page - but as soon as I do, we're there! Thanks for the detail info shuckra. I can do early May no problem. Only been to Memphis once. As soon as we get some confirmation I am ready to start making plans. Alright, I am already starting to shake with anticipation. Sharon

is this a family event? I have a 3 year old and I am wondering if this would be something that would be ok to take him to.

Yeah! I bought my ticket already! Never been to Memphis but it sounds like a blast! If the guys don't play at least I am only out $50! Wouldn't it be great to have a MartyCasey.org party?

is this a family event? I have a 3 year old and I am wondering if this would be something that would be ok to take him to. I think it would be okay - but then again, I don't have kids. I've seen lots of people with little kids there - it does make for a long day in the sun though, and the crowds get umm... drunker and rowdier as the night falls. It probably depends on what you are comfortable with. I would call someone from the festival itself and see what they would recommend.

yeah, I could see him getting tired of being there but there are lots of other things to do in Memphis. I am sure we could find something to hold his attention. He likes music and he likes the "Tree song" so I am sure he would be thrilled to go. But it is the "drunker and rowdier" part that concerns me. If they go in order as listed I would guess LH will be performing pretty late so that may be an obstacle that I will have to workout when the time comes. But, as long as they stay on the lineup, I WILL be there. Hubby has already said yes! He said he would rather go to Memphis than to Chicago (for Hammerfest). (Like going to one has ANY bearing on the other! )We have talked about going to Memphis for a while now and this is the perfect reason to go.
