I am staying at the Holiday Inn Express by the airport they said it was 8 miles from downtown . Don't know if its the same I will have to check the street name. Hopefully it is.

Small world huh? Yes I was at the St. Charles show its the only one I have been to and I can't wait to see them again! Were you there? My friend and i are leaving early Friday morning hope to get there early in the day. We plan on driving to Tunica on Saturday to do some gambling.

Small world huh? Yes I was at the St. Charles show its the only one I have been to and I can't wait to see them again! Were you there? My friend and i are leaving early Friday morning hope to get there early in the day. We plan on driving to Tunica on Saturday to do some gambling. Yeah, we (DH and I) were there, too. My only show, too. Dying for May to get here! We are leaving Friday morning as well, but staying all 3 days. Only way DH would go was if he could see some of the other bands, too. We'll have to get together. |

This message is for the person (Stephanie333 I think) who will be at the Holiday Inn on Airways in Memphis. I used to live in Memphis, BE CAREFUL. That isn't a great part of town. Don't leave anything in your vehicle. This is the first time I have looked at this message board and I was surprised to see that there would be out of town people coming to Beale St. to see Marty and Lovehammers. I too will be making the trip from Mississippi. Have been to Memphis in May many, many times and I am very excited about seeing Marty there live. I just hope it isn't raining like it usually is.

Hey thanks for the warning...I was afraid of that. I have never been to Memphis before but I figured that by the airport would be ok. Maybe I'll start looking for a back up.

I don't think they are the same I searched and found some hotels on Airways and then ours is American Way different zip code I think they are about 5 miles apart. Wonder if it is still a bad area? In travelocity I checked out the reviews there were 9 written and all positive. They did say they had security in and around hotel which could be because of the neighborhood.

We are coming from IL, we're making a Harley trip out of it. We are staying in a cabin at the
Graceland Rv Park. Hope it doesn't rain to much. Anyone know how far that is from downtown?

I am going to stay too. I'm sure that with all these people in town the hotel will be full and they will probably step up security anyway. If its too bad after we arrive I guess we'll drive a little further out and see if we can find anything but I really think it will be ok.

hmm that holiday inn may be near my motel since mine is 7.4 miles from downtown memphis
Go gambling on Saturday? COOL! Are y'all going to the rest of the festival or just Friday.

Rockbeast they might be close the Holiday Inn Express is 8 miles from downtown I was told. We are only going to the festival on Friday and then to Tunica and I would also like to see Graceland.

This is for everyone coming in from out of town and staying in various hotels in the airport area: I am not trying to scare you (or maybe I am for your own safety), but the airport area is a high crime part of town. Actually, Memphis has a very high crime rate. Just be extremely careful and if there are numerous fans staying at the same place just try to stick together. Good luck.
