Is the Days in on Millbranch in a bad part of town? Millbranch shouldn't be too bad. But like I said before, I am not trying to scare anyone, I just want people to be aware because Memphis has one of the highest crime rates in the U.S. It is a fun place with lots to do, but don't let the excitement cloud your judgement regarding your surroundings. I would like to recommend a safer area for everyone to stay, but unfortunately I can't. Once again, just be careful and don't leave anything in your vehicles. ESPECIALLY when you park for the actual show. Safety in numbers.

I am on a limited budget (So for sure will be killed when I am robbed at gunpoint with nothing to give the robbers) and am staying at the Days Inn because its sorta cheaper. So I am staying by myself. The first night there are two hammerheads staying at the same motel as I am. Also, I do not have transportation so will be walking around alone and stuff. Which sounds like its even worse than owning a vehicle. Thanks for this info. I am seriously thinking about cancelling my whole trip now kconrad. I just called the airlines and I can use the balance of the air tickets for Hammerfest this summer. I have been to Chicago before. Just like Seattle, NYC, LA or whatever, its got high crime as well, but nothing like you wrote about. You dont have to "try" and scare anyone. You friggin did. And now I am going to probably cancel a wonderful trip I had planned due to it. I am a very timid and shy person and would freak the hell out if I was robbed. They would kill me for sure due to how freaked I got probably. Its sorta funny that you mentioned all of this though. I have been to Europe alone and walked the streets of Amsterdam alone at 2.00 am. I am very scared when I travel. I own a 1,600 page book called THE WORLDS MOST DANGEROUS PLACES (that is how PARANOID I am when traveling/staying alone), this book tells you how to survive hostile situations and to stay alive in dangerous places and cities throughout the world. Under the United States it claimed the highest crime rates were New Orleans, Atlanta and one other city that was NO WHERE NEAR Memphis, TN.... I indexed Memphis, TN and there was nothing. The only dangerous thing mentioned about TN was the tornadoes. all city has crime.

kconrad ~ I just feel the need to say that I, for one, appreciate your insider info and I get what you're saying.
Thanks for taking the time to help out... it's good for people coming in from out of town to just get a heads up that they need to be aware of their surroundings and take precautions.
I can see that you're not trying to scare anyone but just letting people know how it is... thanks for posting here.

Anyone staying downtown Memphis with in walking of Beale St? Yep, staying downtown. RB I sure hope you don't cancel your trip. I think caution is, as you said, always key when traveling. Sharon

hi radioclash! Thanks for that info.
and yeah I beat up someone who tried to get me to give them my tag hauer link watch in downtown seattle. some little black dude in a big black parka. I think he was surprised that I threw him to the ground and kicked him in the side of the head and then when he got up, I slammed him into a light post.
I can take care of myself. And if I see any funny business with other hammerheads, I HAVE YOUR BACK.
I appreciate how thoughtful it was to pre-warn us about Memphis. Other people said that the town is a wonderful town and they have never had any problems. So I am going to just have a great time and not worry.

Thanks for this info, Radioclash. I looked at the site and Lovehammers are first on the list for Cellular South stage. I wonder if that means that they will be playing first. If so, that means they will start at 6pm. Also. only 3 bands are listed for that stage that night, the other stages have 4. I'm so hoping this means that lovehammers will be playing an hour long set!!! Oh, I hope the next few weeks will fly by.

I was simply trying to let people know to be careful. I am very sorry if I scared you into staying home. If you feel safe going to Chicago then you should be fine in Memphis.

I can see that you're not trying to scare anyone but just letting people know how it is... thanks for posting here. That makes me feel better. All I want anyone going to the show to do is be careful. Yes, all cities have crime and I'm sure that in those cities there are specific "parts of town" that can be dangerous. The airport area is one of them. Actually, downtown isn't without problems, but I am coming and I am bringing my two children because they like Marty, too. This will be my daughters first concert experience and I am very excited about it. But we will be careful. I have had friends whose vehicles were broken into down there during the festival so thats why I say don't leave anything in them. I feel horrible for scaring people, but I would feel even worse if I read posts on here after the show that said people had troubles and I didn't warn them. If I were to ever go to Chicago or St. Louis or Seattle I would want someone to tell me which parts of town I should definitely watch my back in.

I mean if it was ME that were telling a board full of excited fans, I would have said "Have a great time and be careful out there, try to travel in pairs" You said a lot more than that and it really freaked me.

RB, you mentioned ATL and New Orleans having the higest crime rates. I have been to both and walked around on the streets at night and alone and I am by no means a tough chick but no one bothered me. I have also been to Memphis. That was 12 years ago but still. I know they do have a pretty high crime rate but I am sure that with your traveling experience, you will be fine. I know what you mean though, I usually imagine the worst possible thing that could happen to me and try to prepare myself for it way ahead of time. Get you a canister of pepper spray!
Modified to say: I think we have pretty much decided to not go to this thing because of all thier "rules" and my very hard to please 3 year old that I would have to pay full ticket price for. But, if we change our minds and decided to go then I am sure we can help out getting you from one place to another without you having to walk around in the streets.

rockbeast, me and my best friend are staying at a probably terrible hotel about 7.4 miles from downtown close to the airport, it is really cheap and possibly roach infested..lol but seriously don't walk around....if you need a ride, you have one, any hammerhead is welcome to jump in and ride. of course there is there after the party...party thing we are trying to throw together, but you probably aren't too far from us and if you want a ride to the festival, let me know!!!!

Good RB!!! I am glad that other hammerheads are taking care of you! I knew they would come through!
Now, I have to say, since we have decided to not go and there is talk of all this "hammerheadquarters" I am a bit jealous! I am sure it will only grow closer to the date. *SIGH*

Now there is a (very) remote possibility I will be going to Memphis for the first day ... so I checked the Beale Street site for details, and I saw that they have bios up for some of the performers. But MCLH's bio isn't there! How do we get that info to them, so they can post it?
