So I don't know if I am behind everyone else or if you guys in the US are waiting for the broadcast to begin. In case it's the latter, I won't go into too much detail, but this is going to be a tough series --everyone can really sing. Some great talent and interesting characters.
I hate to sound too Paula Abdl, but it's all about song choice. Speaking of song choice, it is really strange to hear other people singing songs we so associate with Marty, Jordis, etc. If they put Creep on the song list I might have to mute the TV.
Cool thing for us in Asia is that Star TV is broadcasting the reality show just before the concert show begins so everyone here will see the whole thing.

your right Shy. I completely understand the Tommy Lee thing now. Very amusing. It was hard seeing only that brief glimpse of Marty (losing) at beginning. Dying for him to be on show. just know it will be while I ma travelling. How do you set this VCR again?  ? |

The show tonight was success. I agree with Chk there are definitely some great talent and interesting characters. I think it will be hard choise for the band and a great season for us  By the way, when I heard Patrice Pike singing, her voice reminded me a little of Suzie Mcneil, does anyone else agree with me? just wondering  |

When I heard Dilana was gonna sing lithium my heart sank. How could she? No one could compare to Marty!
Then she sang. A totally different performer doing a totally different song. She rocked and I liked it and I still LOVE Marty singing Lithium the way he does it. I felt relieved after that. I could watch this show and hear those songs and not be pissed.
Creep? Now that's another story.
I agree it was hard to see that scene where Marty lost again. Not because I wanted him to win, but I hate to see him lose anything.
Tommy Lee is quite amusing. I like all of them actually. I'm glad they are not using New Sensation. I like the theme tune. It's catchy.
What will they use for elimination?

k i'm watching now...Storm & Ryan were first. Storm was good, not crazy about the song for her tho. Ryan - eh. I have a feeling he'll be tagged the next ______. ok Toby's singing now, I already like him a LOT. LOVE his voice! Patrice - rocked. I'm not sure about her look tho... Magni - eh. nice strong voice like Dave said but I think he looked a little stiff. Didn't like how he kept flipping his hands up to the audience like cheer louder! kinda thing. Zayra - just a big no. Not feelin it with her at all. They liked her but I don't think she's sounded that great in the 2 times I've seen her sing. Maybe another song. Jenny - great voice, I just think she actually kind of sounded one-toned if that makes sense. I think other songs she'll kick butt with. Josh - sounded awesome! I couldn't help but get flashes of ___ tho when they played his pre-video with the a**glasses & the cap down over his eyes... he was really great. Matt - great voice, definitely needs some more ROCK. Looking forward to seeing something else like Dave said. Dilana - holy CRAP she is insane! I love her! Her intensity was incredible. I think she's definitely Tommy's frontrunner so far, too... 8-)if she doesn't get the Supernova gig, he will sponsor her somehow for sure. Dayna - I just thought she was plain. Great chorus singing, where she got stronger but, just kinda forgettable for me. Phil - well I think Phil is hot, but he was a little limpy acting tonight. I think he wa trying to copy Marty & be manic & man-conductor-y but didn't work for him. I think he has a great voice tho & is a contender. Jill - great choice for her! I just wonder how she will be with other songs...if it will kind of have that same scratchy screamy sound. hmmm. ok Chris - I can see the baby Marty-Dino thing...too bad the song was horrible. I hope he has another opportunity, cuz he sounded good on the reality show. Lukas - I like him! I mean he's perfect for this band actually, at least after that song. My top 3 - Toby, Dilana, Lukas. Close runner ups - Jill, Star & Josh. The rest I'll have to watch more of... signing off for now, going to the results show tomorrow!  My vote for elimination - Magni. buh bye. |

One of those dudes stole a Marty move, for real! (I hate myself because I keep comparing all of them to him, and of course no one CAN compare)
To be honest, I didn't really feel any of them except Lukas. He kicked major ass. I'm definitely rooting for him to win over all the others. It's always the quiet guys who don't talk a lot of crap about how "rockstar" they are that are truly great. You know?
PS. I have a tiny spot in my heart for Toby, but he may be a little too emo for the group. And Magni sucks pretty bad, so I hope he gets the boot.

I was definately disappointed with the contestants on this show... I thought that there was only a few "WOW" performances and the rest were just okay. I think that last years contestants were WAY better. But my top 3 is Toby, Josh & Matt.
They just have this star quality about them and they are amazing. I can't wait to see how far they go.
And about the girls.. I'm not too crazy about any of them. I liked Storm though. She was good.

Okay, I just watched. LOVED Dilana and Lukas, even though I hate Rebel Yell. It's such a stupid song.
Chris can't sing worth a damn, and neither can Zayra, in my opinion. They didn't have the range(Chris) and Zayra I didn't understand half the words. Eeek.
Toby(because Klly wants to know my opinion) was all right, but that song isn't a happy, feel-me-up song, and he was going all JD on it. Ew.
I liked Matt, but thought Magni was far too wooden onstage.
One last note-did anyone see Rafael with the House Band? I was looking, and didn't spot him. I miss Rafa and his stupid facial expressions.
On edit-Storm was pretty good. She reminds me of a cross between Courtney Love and Shirley Manson in her looks and stage performance, though. I don't know if I like that.

Looks like l may be in the minority of not really liking Lukas all that much ---
Very impressed by Storm (btw, Jodie it's Storm, not Star) - and not just because she comes from my hometown!!! But yeah - can't wait to see her doing other songs - my sweetie wasn't keen on "Pinball Wizard" either
Dilana blew me away with Lithium - and drove me to the computer to listen to Marty's version - basically my assessment was I liked her intensity in the first part (don't hate me - )maybe even a little better than Marty's, but Marty did better than her on the 2nd half
Sweetie was super impressed by Jill and we both liked Patrice as well - frankly, our feeling was the gals overall did better than the guys
But - the guys that we thought kicked it (and got our votes) were Matt, Toby and Josh
Our bottom 3 were Magni - Chris (he murdered Roxanne - too bad cause he showed some potential in the studio being first up) - Zayra (just didn't like her voice)

Yea, Yea....Dilana and Lukas kick ass.!!!!!!!!!! I was at the taping and their energy was spilling out into the audience.
Jodie...did Steph tell you about theMarty/Dino thing. Chris was giving it to us, so I deemed him "baby Marty/Dino" ha ha. I was completely dissapointed in him though and hope he gets to stay so we can really see what he can do
yea, when the guy that warms up the audience came out and read off the songs we would be hearing that day and he said "Lithium" 4Reeds and I freaked cuz that is SOOO Marty's song...I can't see how anyone could ever do it better....but then Dilana sang it her way and just let us have it....it was great.
But yes Klly.....they better not even try to redo Creep (it can never be done)
Lukas....wow....he should front this band...i dig him so much. I think it will be an interesting season.

lukas, hmmm. I did enjoy his performance, but he's got this vanity that I already find irritating. Reminds me a bit of He Who Shall Not Be Named.
And Fly, baby, I think you are too young to appreciate Rebel Yell. You had to be there. And by there I mean the 80s when every parent freaked out about the dangerous Billy I.
I liked Storm's voice a lot. Zayra didn't do anything for me. Magni very disappointing. He kept acting like he expected more from the crowd. Ya gotta earn it, man. Chris cute but sang terribly. Never ever pick a Sting song. Too hard to sing!
Natasha, don't worry about not being impressed yet. I think it takes a couple of weeks to really get to know the rockers and their voices/styles.

Fly....Rafael was there...his hair is just a few shades lighter. The girl who sang the Jefferson Starship song was playing up to him during her set. He was making his trademark face.
I just love Paul from the house band. I'm disappointed they weren't introduced individually last night. They rock.
