Dawn, getting over the ex made me think of Carly Simons "You're so vain" argh..I know who fits that one for sure!! I was also thinking about Marty's "Wait for no one" I think that is a break up song too.
Later gang Jilly

Yep - will agree with you on both of those - and I wonder if we're thinking the same person for you're so vain - I was thinking RS:INXS to give you a clue!

Great songs everyone. School is going well, but things are hectic right now...maybe I can be around a bit more when the day-to-day routine is in place. I know I will when they stop shuffling kids around. Dawn, that avi is making me think of her famous line - "I'm not bad, I'm just drawn that way..."
I can't remember if I've said this one or not, but "Without You" from the musical RENT is a great mopey break-up song.

I also had an ex who it fitted too! ;D ;D ;D Cheza - not to worry - I hope school isn't taking up too much of your time & we'll see you around soon. Have we included wish you were here in this list? Either Marty singing it or Pink Floyd.

I don't really care for country music, but Toby Keith's He Aint Worth Missin' is a very therapeutic break-up song.

What about "Missing You" by John Waite or "Take It On The Run" by REO Speedwagon for a defiant break-up song?

Man Cheza those are good ones. Did we mention "Babe" by Styx yet? Is that a break up song, or I have to leave song? Anyway it used to make me cry in high school. lol

I finally thought of one. "All of Me" by Louis Armstrong
You took my kisses and all my love You taught me how to care Am I to be just remnant of a one side love affair
All you took I gladly gave There is nothing left for me to save
All of me Why not take all of me Can't you see I'm no good without you Take my lips I want to use them Take my arms I'll never lose them Your goodbye left me with eyes that cry How can I go on dear without you You took the part that once was my heart So why not take all of me

A good one I've come across is by Reba Mcentire and Vince Gill. It's call It Just Has To Be This Way.The sound of your voice the touch of your skin If we go there it will start all over again So don't even call there no need for checking in If it's really over let it just be over
No,we won't be sharing coffee Or having lunch from time to time I won't ask about your family Please don't ask me about mine This is never what I wanted And it's killing me to say It just has to be this way
We gave all we could we fought the good fight But no matter how we loved we couldn't get it right It hurts to let go but it's harder hangin' on I don't want it to be over we know that it's over
No,we won't be sharing coffee Or having lunch from time to time I won't ask about your family Please don't ask me about mine This is never what I wanted And it's killing me to say It just has to be this way
And even if I change my mind Don't let me hurt me one more time Stay away from me be as cold as you can be
No,we won't be sharing coffee Or having lunch from time to time I won't ask about your family Please don't ask about mine This is never what I wanted And it's killing me to say It just has to be this way
Oh,it just has to be this way

I look up to her because she's been through so much. Her first band all died in a plane crash a long time ago. She even wrote a song that is dedicated to that.

"Sweet Marie" by Hothouse Flowers
Found a note of words this very morning Written on the best paper you could find You left it on your favourite table And I expected your goodbye It said like something about separation It said for the two of us only good It said like fly in our own direction And spread our souls across the world Sweet Marie I'm alive
Last night I went a walking down by the lakeside It was a hot balmy night and three ducks flew by I came to a tree I said hi can I sit here And listen to the crickets lullabye And I will make you a basket From the rushes by the lakes Put your memories and thoughts in it Take as long as it might take
Oh I hope you find your good fortune I hope you find peace in everything you do I hope the colours of the rainbow Colour your clothing And I know you'll find love I do
Sweet Marie I'm alive

How could I forget Reba! Still (or and still?) does it for me. Will have me sobbing in mere seconds. Till you love me is brilliant too.

Here you go Dawn!
Till You Love Me Reba Mcentire
I sent you roses, I warned you I would Do all that I could to show you the way that I feel Please, dont say Im wasting my time Ive got nothin but time so Ill do all that I can to catch That ghost of a chance
Chorus: The sunlight, the moonlight Are beyond my control And there are stars in the heavens That Ill never hold But if dreams give you power Then Im strong enough to offer my heart And never give up till you love me Till you love me
I looked in your eyes, so bright and so blue And thats when I knew that you could be mine If good things come to those who will wait Well, I guess I can wait if thats what I have to do Oh, its worth it for you

Here's another good Reba song.
Whoever’s In New England Reba Mcentire
You spend an awful lot of time in massachutes Seems like every other week youve got a meeting waiting there Business must be booming or could something else Be moving in the air up there
You say that its important for our future An executive on his way up has got to play the part Each time duty calls you got to give it all Youve got with all your heart
When whoevers in new england is through with you And boston finds better things to do You know its not too late cause youll always have a place to go When whoevers in new englands through with you
I hear the winter time up north can last forever Ive been told its beautiful to see this time of year They say the snow can blind you till the world you left behind Just disappears I hear
I packed your bags and left them in the hallway But before you leave again theres just one thing you outta know When the icy winds blow through you remember that its me Who feels the cold most of all
When whoevers in new england is through with you And boston finds better things to do You know its not too late cause youll always have a place to go When whoevers in new englands through with you
